Annie noticed the way his eyes closed and his fingers shook and so she put her hand on his to try and calm him down. “They are lying to you. They want you to think the worst.”
“Thank you Peeta..” She blushed a little and chewed on her lip. “I didn’t realise he was looking at me at times. It was..an on purpose kind of thing. We didn’t really like each other at first and I assumed the worst but during my Games he began to help me and afterwards, we spoke more and he would help me with my Episodes alongside Mags. By the time of my Victory Tour, we were together and Snow knew.”
“It’s not a problem.”
He almost jerked away at her touch but managed to calm down for a moment. He didn’t know why, maybe because she was his friend and he needed a true friend here of all places, but she helped calm him down.
“That’s so sweet.” He admitted, smiling at her slightly. “It’s good that you have someone like Finnick for you. He loves you very much, I take it. You deserve it.” He made it very clear that he truly meant it, taking her hand for a moment.
Peeta opened his mouth to speak but he heard someone in the distance walking their way. “Come, hide!” He whispered, knowing full well that they wouldn’t be hidden, they would just be at the back of their cells.
