Dear Fruit Tart, Thank you for being a birthday cake for my auntie. She is visiting from Vietnam for the first time and it happens to be her birthday. So I got her you instead of a traditional cake because traditional cakes usually are too sweet for the Vietnamese palate. She was so excited when she saw you coming out with candles on top. To us, having cake on birthdays is the norm. So when my mother announced that this was only her second cake in her 48 years of life, you became much more meaningful. My auntie had tears in her eyes and I felt more humbled and blessed that I get to have cake every year for my birthday and on other's birthdays as well. You reminded me that people all around the world may not celebrate their birthdays the way we do. That celebrating birthdays with parties, cakes, and gifts is a blessing and a privilege, and not a right or a given. My auntie enjoyed you very much. Well, we all did. Your fruits were fresh and crisp. Your cream was light with just the right amount of sweetness. Your thin layer of chocolate and flaky graham crust gave the overall bite a nice crunch.
