I like saying no. It lowers their enthusiasm.
Itās space. It doesnāt cooperate.
Humans⦠They are not the cowering wretches we were promised. They stand. They are unruly, and therefore cannot be ruled. To challenge them is to court death.Ā
You know, Iāve often wondered why it is we have children in the first place, and the conclusion Iāve come to is, at some point in our lives, we realize things are screwed up beyond repair. So we decide to start again. Wipe the slate clean. Start fresh. And then we have children. Little carbon copies we can turn to and say, āYou will do what I could not. You will succeed where I have failed,ā because we want someone to get it right this time. But not me. Personally speaking, I canāt wait to watch life tear you apart.
I have an obsessive character. I manicure my nails at three in the morning because nobody else can do it the right way. Maybe thatās the secret to my success.
You think youāre the only superhero in the world?
You know, Iām supposed to say I donāt miss it. Thatās what they teach you in trauma recovery. Ā Define yourself by what you have, value the differences, make no apologies for what you lack. And itās all true, for the most part⦠but it doesnāt change the fact that Iā¦Ā Ā Iād give anything to see the sky one more time.
