edward.
“I DON’T KNOW IF IT’S CONTACT SPORTS SO MUCH AS JUST… that specific sport in general. it’s the only one that really keeps me entertained,” edward offers, a faint hum escaping his lips as he does. he tries not to blurt it out when she thinks of emmett, but before he can even really think about it, his shoulders are straightening just a touch. “emmett.” and then he needs to find a way to cover it up, throat tight before he’s offering a brief, “he’s usually the one that people associate the word ‘bodyguard’ with, so…” yeah, that was as good of a cover - up as any others he might have been able to come up with. “he’s more of a baseball guy. i’m really the only one in my family that enjoys football.” a crease formed between his eyebrows at her compliment as he tries to figure out how to respond to the compliment - truthfully, he’s never been the best at taking them, never really known how to respond, so it take him a second to recover from it, his golden eyes blink at her for a moment before he’s flashing a quick grin, shoulders lifting in a brief shrug. “the spotlight… it’s never really been something i craved, i guess. not as much as a quiet life. where i’m comfortable.” where he didn’t have to worry about people realizing who he was, recognizing him from his past, putting the pieces together that he hadn’t aged since he’d known them. but she didn’t need to know that.
“DAMN, IF SPORTS DON’T DO A GOOD JOB AT KEEPING YOU ENTERTAINED...“ she paused a bit to think it through. some people dissected her words a lot, so she had to make sure they were selected perfectly. “then i don’t know what can hold your attention for a long time.” eyes narrowed in on the man. that was pretty damn fast. oh well, she didn’t want to be one of those ones that dissected everything apart. that was quite obsessive. “don’t get me wrong, all of you look like bodyguards, but you’re more of a model while he seems to be more of a brute force.” then the other blond one was more of a sad poet kind of guy. at least that was how they all looked like to lauren and she was always big on appearances. “well then it’s clearly obvious you’re already my favorite one. i happen to find baseball quite passive and boring.” she shrugged of the sport as a whole. gosh, edward was harder to figure out than those shakespearean plays they had to dissect in class. “so the i’m going to lock myself in my room for a couple of days and blast some angsty and depressive music type?” that was always what she thought of when she thought of quiet loners. “i never would have pegged you for one of those unless i actively watch you around school. do you know some people do that?” lauren caught a couple of people staring at her at times, so she was going to assume that edward caught the ones looking at him and his adoptive siblings.
