shortly after her husband’s death rei takes up smoking. it’s a way of coping to start with the trauma and everything that happened but after a while she says that it reminds her of his fire and his warmth.

she’s 100% aware that smoking is bad for her but doesn’t really care at this point. she’s so far gone in her own misery that she doesn’t really care about her own health very much. her sisters as well as other people close to her have tried to get her to quit several times but it’s no use.
