Hey ghouls! 💜

This week I finally wrapped up on my beloved thesis, yippee!! I spent this semester creating a Monster themed teen magazine, parodying the 2000s teen magazine I grew up with! It was a lot of work getting everything drawn, writing articles, planning etc, but I had SO MUCH fun!! 💕

Honestly this project really felt like a love letter to my life long love of all things spooky and camp!! 💜

Here's a sneak peek at one of the fake ads I made for the magazine! I bet sea monsters would LOVE a good waterproof mascara, so here's Kraken Beauty for all your aquatic cosmetic needs! 🫧

Aaa Season 2!! 😩💕

I can't believe it's been 15 years since season one first aired, and now we FINALLY have a season 2 🤧🎉!!

That cliffhanger's been killing me for years, and now we finally have closure omg. I first watched PSG around 2016 (and maybe I shouldn't have lol), so I've been drawing fanart and rewatching it for a WHILE 😳

With this new season we've also gotten so much new content, new music, new characters and ofc, new outfits 💅 The official PSG socials announced a music festival, and I loooved the poster so much, I decided to redraw it!! 💕✨️

BTW on the last pic I added a whole bunch of my sketches and fanart of Panty and (mostly) Stocking over the years, so much has changed over the years buuut somethings really stay the same lol 🤧

Thank you all so much for the love on my first, it seriously meant the world 🥹💖

This time I rescued a thrifted Ghoulia (armless + BAD hair situation 😭). After a boil wash, I decided to lean into the untamed bangs and go for a grungy, edgy vibe 😩🖤

The liner was such a fun challenge, I skipped brows since I couldn’t settle on a design… but honestly, the eyebrowless look kinda?? Goes hard?? 👀

Also huge shoutout to a random Purrsephone in my collection for lending a hand (and arms) so Ghoulia was properly... armed... for this photoshoot 💀💀💀

What do you think tho, does she pull off the messy edgy look? 😳

Back in March, I went on a little sketching spree inspired by @billgreening ’s beautiful Barbie designs, it was a major shock to hear about his departure :(

He’s such an icon within the doll world, and a huuuge personal inspiration to me as both an artist and an aspiring toy designer! 😭💕

I finally decided to render and share one of my favorites from that batch: the 2008 Hello Kitty Barbie ✨️

Growing up, my sister had a gorgeous Barbie with the Steffie mold, and I’ve always adored it... even before I knew it's name 😳! This design’s cute pin-up vibe and the Sanrio x Barbie combo made it impossible not to draw! 😩💖💕💖

Do you have a favorite Sanrio character? There's soooo many.... I can never just pick one 💀

AWWWWW OMG!! I JUST SAW THIS!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 💕💖💕

The biggest thing I learned is thinning yr paints helps it stay nice n flat, andddd use tiny brush... I used a nail art brush!! The dress was an altered Rainbow High fashion pack, so I cant take credit for that, it is super cute tho!! 💅

It was soo nervewracking tryna make everything kinda symmetrical... the eyebrows aren't twins but I posted anyways, idgaf 🤧

I think it def helps that I'm in a fine art program and have definitely painted a LOT... just usually on a canvas,, and way larger scale,, lol!! 😳

I just finished up another repaint (this time ghoulia with a dress I actually made lol) that I should be posting next week-ish, thank you again for yr support!! 💕 :D

OKAY, I know there's a very small amount of May left buuuut, I STIIILLL wanted to make a mermay post before it ended! 🧜‍♀️✨️

I've never posted something like this before, so quick explanation:

I wanted to try designing sculpting a little figure with polymer clay for the first time, qnnnnd here it is!! 😳 My silly lil mermaid!! 💕

I finished this a while back, and in hindsight, I wish I knew about flexifiles 😭 💔 annnd maybe using liquid acrylic instead of heavy body and tears 💀...

「Abbey Bominable」❄️💜❄️ (please read caption!)

For those who don’t know, I’m Sri Lankan.

Growing up, I rarely saw South Asian dolls, and even as an adult, I still don’t. India has the largest population in the world, and yet I can’t name five mainstream dolls with a defined backstory or personality that go beyond just “being South Asian.”

Last week, I attended a Sri Lankan formal hosted by students like me. I wore a saree for the first time. I didn’t realize how deeply moved I would be by simply wearing a cultural garment. When I saw myself in the mirror, I felt like a princess. Not a Disney princess, none of them look like me, but that’s still the only word that comes close to how I felt.

Everyone deserves to feel that way.

Over the past few days, I drew Abbey Bominable from Monster High in a saree. She may be blue, but honestly, she’s the best representation of South Asians in dolls I’ve seen so far. And I can’t wait for the day that sentence becomes untrue.

I hope that me, and my peers, the next generation of the toy industry, can bring meaningful change. One day, there WILL be a major character who isn’t just ambiguously brown, but explicitly and unapologetically South Asian. Maybe even Sri Lankan. Maybe even a main character.
