Why is it when the child matures,
the parents become childish?
A Fable
One sunny summer afternoon, an old turtle was walking along a river. During his walk, the old turtle met a beaver. The beaver, having finished building his dam, was filling the dam with valuable items.
The old turtle stopped walking and motioned for the young beaver to join him on the bank of the river. When the young beaver had made his way over to the old turtle he asked him angrily,
“Why do you bother me when you see I am busy acquiring valuables for my home?”
The old turtle replied,
“I wish to warn you of the dangers of valuables. Take time to appreciate what you already possess.”
The young beaver scoffed,
“What do you know about valuables?” he asked snidely, “All you possess is the house you carry on your back.”
“It is true,” the old turtle said, “I do not indulge in worldly things, but I do know how addictive they can be. I used to be friends with a squirrel who was just like you. He adored valuable items and was constantly filling his nest with them, but eventually his nest became too heavy and he fell from his tree.”
And the old turtle continued on his walk.

My mind speaks a language only I can understand, and it’s so much easier to look like a fool than to teach someone else the words.
I’ve learned the hard way that people don’t stay; their friendship is the broken promise of their unwillingness to learn the patterns of my speech.
Yet with every false hope, and every failure, and every ounce of abandonment the language changes:
words have different meanings, sentences different structures, the patterns not so readily seen.
The complexity of my lonely mind changing everything, until I alone hold the key.

Death, its all around
it’s unavoidable.
Dead trees with skeleton-like branches
Just standing, just staring.
Empty flower beds, a graveyard
of what once was.
And standing here in the crisp, cool air
it may seem like the end,
with all of this death,
it's hard to tell
but it’s simply the
beginning.

Friday November 13, 2015 Paris, Je suis désolé, For the pain and suffering you've had to endure, For the heartbreak felt around the world, For the fear stamped upon your soul, You will never again feel completely whole. Je suis désolé, For the loved ones never returning home, Whose next birthday candles will never be blown, For the City of Lights having to go dark, On World Kindness Day, they left their mark. Je suis désolé, For the friends who went out to a Friday night concert, For the family dinner interrupted with gunfire, For the innocent lives taken that day, Away from their families. Far away. Je suis désolé, For the terrorists with hatred upon their hearts, Who tore your entire world apart. There is no way to give back what was lost, Or fill the void left in your hearts. No way to fix what has been done, And as for me I'm only one, But there is one thing I need to say: To all those in mourning, Je suis désolé.

My mind is empty and full,
The future vast and nearing.
Possibilities swarm my thoughts,
Fading as quickly as they came.
Happiness dances in piles of ideas,
And fear is temporarily forgotten.
Doubts are an inevitable disease,
And change is around the corner.
Today is the future,
Yesterday the present,
And tomorrow is new and waiting.
A New Beginning
When I was younger I used to write poetry, just silly little poems that most of the time did not make much sense. A few years later I tried to keep a journal. I have actually attempted to keep many journals and all have been busts. Recently I have gotten back into poetry(and hopefully now it makes more sense) and have been pretty good at writing it all down. The poems I write tend to reflect events in my life and can get personal. I am taking a bit of a risk(for me anyways) in posting some of my poems, but seeing as this is kind of anonymous and this is what tumblr is for why not. So here goes -Sissy
