Ā I HATE the texture of it. I had this misconception that once it began to loc it would instantly get this rough/textured look that so many locs have but mine ..... not at all. They are still soft, silky, and shiny even when they are not freshly moisturized. I know it's still early in the game but UGH ..... ššš
10 Week Check in From JĆ©ri
Hey Everyone! I just wanted to do a quick checkin in since Iām about halfway behind my sisters as a I reach the 10 week mark. Iām loving the journey more and more each day. Everything has been going pretty well. I did have some dry/itchy scalp issues around week 6 but a nice scalp massage with tea tree oil helped. I have been getting my hair retwisted about every 3 weeks. I normally keep the style in for about 2 weeks then let my hair down for the last week before another retwist. The hardest thing not to do is to play with my hair when itās not in a style. I love feeling how my locs have changed and grown. This week is the week that my hair is down, so Iām going to try my best to leave it along until Sunday. Wish me luck. Here are some pics since I last updated.

Week 15....month 3 week 3 however you may say this journey has begun and stuck! Iām so excited to see my progress. I didnāt start off short had a nice length but now my hair is brushing the top of my shoulders (when loose and hanging), Iāve learned new remidies when it comes to my hair. Iāve always been the type to wash my hair 2x a week and now I canāt I donāt like the itching but Iāve learned that FRESH LEMON WATER(lemon juice and water) in a spray bottle keeps your hair clean in between I lemon rinse every other week now! My hair is flourishing and so am I! Different styles different looks different hair different Meeeee!!!!
Hey yall .....
It's been 14 weeks to the day and my hair is beading and frizzing EVERYWHERE (pictured above). I know it may be hard to tell from the pictures but my locs are beginning to thicken up particularly around the roots and to touch or squeeze them I would say they feel stiff like yarn. I have noticed my locs have a natural wave to them and I wonder if that is due to the natural curl pattern of my hair but I am still excited to begin styling and to test some flexi rods. I also realized today that once I pull down my current style I should take a picture of my loc length so that in 3 months we can compare and see what the growth is like.
Overall my journey is definitely going pretty well at this point and I'm feeling really good about how they are coming along.

Hey everyone. I'm JĆ©ri the middle sister and on 12.31.18 I was able to finally join my sisters in this journey. I used the instant loc method to begin and during my first retwist I will interlock the roots. New Year, New Hair!Ā
Well its officially been 5 weeks and 1 day to be exact and when I looked in the mirror this morning I thought to myself my hair was looking good but I wasn't sure it had actually changed any šš
š²š² .... well after doing a side by side I can see how wrong I was. They have obviously lengthened(stretched) and are beginning to loc. My roots are feeling a little harder than the rest of each loc but overall my hair is still pretty soft and flexible. My ends as you can see are still pretty loose as well.
Guess we will see where I am in about 3 more weeks ššš¤š¤
Week 5 šš½
Wow already a month! I canāt believe itās this time already! My locs are starting to bud upšššš no turning back at this point (not that I planned on it). I can say I need to get a better schedule for maintenance because I have a lot of free hair (baby hairs) that instead of being in their loc home they fray around which is causing a messy look orits growing with another loc. I wanted to āwolfā for a little but I think I should keep up on my maintenance š¤š¤š¤ but none the less THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL ššš
Well the journey to Hippie locs has more then just begun in week 3 I learned how free my locs really are. Doing the maintenance on my own I learned a few wanted to try and join together and become one. I learned that I may have to twist my hair more often because the try to combined. I can definitely see were they are starting to form a bud and starting the formation. I very excited and have so much more growth to go.

Yes a few still found themselves untwistedĀ by my first maintenance but they were all around the nape of my neck which is probably because of shirts and coats rubbing
Although I am definitely still in the starter phase there definitely are some points of locing occurring which I discovered today when my stylist washed my hair and the parts remained and were still twisted.
Lets go weeks 4 - 6!!!!!!Ā
We three have a very long journey ahead of us. Three women with three very different textures of hair and with that we each will experience each stage differently. Therefore I thought I would write a quick general post about the stages we each shall experience and as we journey through them we will be able to post our personal photos and feelings for each.
THE LOC STAGES
STARTER: 3 - 6 months
Looking silky smooth and perfectly parted with your comb coils, two strand twists, etc.
Feeling:Excited!!
BABY (budding): 3 - 9 months
So those beautiful coils or twists you began with now may begin to seem puffy. Ā Depending on the length you began at your hair may be āsproutingā all over the place.
Feeling: SETTLE DOWN ā DO NOT start over twisting or re-dividing your hair. Ā
TEEN (locking): 6 - 18 months
Your buds and sprouts truly are beginning to look like locs. Ā Your hair has officially spun into a network of intertwining strands that extend throughout the entire individual loc. You also may notice that gravity has taken over and your locs have dropped.
Feeling: RELAXED & ready for a good shampoo!! āŗ
ADULT (maturity)
Each and every loc is firmly meshed and tightly interwoven. Seeing consistent growth.
Feeling: Iāve crossed the FINISH LINE!!!!!
ROOTED (beyond maturity)
The years have passed and depending on the care you have given your locs you may notice thinning and some even breaking off. Ā Regular trimming and proper hair care is vital on your journey.
Feeling: Maybe Iāll shave them all off and rock that beautiful fade like so many others.
LOC GOALS (Tami)
Hey ya'll ..... So sure I'm just starting this journey and have no clue where it will end BUT I do have goals.
I THINK I am a midback length kinda girl ..... not too short but also not too long. I've always worn this length braids when I had them done and I loved the styles I could create.
I chose a picture with grey locs because first off the women in my family grey BEAUTIFULLY and secondly because my loctition definitely pointed out the grey hairs when I spoke of coloring my locs ... ššš¤£š¤£.

Day One:
So I became the big sister šā¼ļø only āš½ days apart my big sister (Tami) started our loc journey together! All 3 of us have spoke on how we all wanted to start this journey and as they say āGreat minds think alikeā BOOM I sent a picture in our group chat (with our mom and we got yelled at š¤£š¤£š¤£) that I started my locs! My sisters were shocked at the style and size. *surprise* They had a totally different vision of what they would look like! Iām a true hippie at heart so I WILL have āhippie locsā.
Now seeing Tami...for me it was a shock š² they were so beautiful and shiny. Already having beautiful length, to see a totally different style and her texture hair it was like ādamn girlā! Iām so proud of her for starting her journey and us doing it together. The classic comb coil starter loc ahhh the simplicity sits so perfect in my sisters head. The āclassic locā š
Hey Everyone, It Cam! š
Locs....hmmm where to begin? I have been in love with locs since the first time I can remember seeing them. Coils, interlocked, and two strand twist and so many more ways to start them *oh my šÆš*! Then I would feel my hair and be told āI could never have locsā, and that started my determination but I could never dedicate to it. Why? You may wonder š¤ well I got caught up in trends...cuts, color, weaves, and more I wanted to try everything. I knew with all the changes I wasnāt loving my hair. I wasnāt doing what I really wanted to do and that was to LOC MY HAIR!
Why I Locād my hair?
1. Iām finally doing what I wanted to do!
2. My hair is my strength and Iām truly growing.
3. Natural Growth š
So on October 19th, 2018 I started my loc journey with the interlock method and I canāt wait to see this to the END!
Hey Everyone ... Its Tami!
Its 5am (mon ā fri) and the alarm goes off and itās time to start another day. Ā I prepare and then I look in the mirror and just stare ā¦ I canāt even begin to figure out what to do with all this hair on my head. Ā After 36 almost 37 years I am OVER the cuts, trims, colors, straightening, curling, braiding, washing, etc. Ā I am now in a routine where I wash my hair maybe once a month, I comb through it once a week, and it is ALWAYS back in a bun whether itās wet or dry. Ā Not to mention 10 years ago I was blessed with a BEAUTIFUL little girl of my own who has more hair on her head than any child should ever have. Ā
So why did I start my loc journey ā¦.
1.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Iām tired of talking about it Iām ready to do it
2.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I understand this is a journey and I am ready to commit and learn to love my hair again
3.Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I have hair envy when I see women with these beautiful locs BUT I understand every woman and their loc is different due to the maturity of their locs and the texture of their hair

SO ITS OFFICIAL ā OCTOBER 21, 2018 my journey has begun with the use of the comb coil starter method.
