It's so sad, but true. T_T
Hehehe. BJ's version of a romantic midnight kiss. Happy New Years everybody.
Aw, the feels.
More sketches inspired from the musical.
So, I might've listened to the musical soundtrack (a lot) and sketched some of the scenes. I'm hoping they'll go on tour (pretty please Beetlejuice Broadway?).
Colored ballpoint pen sketch. Layered spider poncho concept.
Sketch of BJ loafing around in his underwear. Typical.
Meet the Juices - minus Donny. BJ hates his brother after all.
BJ’s father always makes me think he was inspired by the one in the Munsters. Beetlejuice looks like he’s already asking for a handout from Charles. (”Ten more Dollars!” lol!)
Before there was Courage the Cowardly Dog, there was Percy the Petrified Puss. He disappears sometime after the first season. Doomie takes his place for the most part but he still shows up here and there.
Lydia’s so violent!
BJ gets the big dewy shojo eye treatment because - why not? Lydia’s a teenage girl after all. You can just think of it as a BJ trying to appeal to the Twilight-reading demographic - because he’s sparkly! Lol!
Brought to you by the color, “Processed Red.”
Another older BJ fan sketch. Thought it’d be cool if his hair became more pointed and deadly. My style at this time was in between drawing him too real and too cartoon. If you don’t go easy on the facial hair/rot around his mouth, he can end up looking like a handsome rugged pirate instead.
An older pencil sketch. Newer drawings in progress. BJ and Lydia as plushies.
Inspired by a scene from the Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian script by Johnathan Gems. Yes, I’m a Beetlejuice nerd. I found the script and read it.
After the first movie only featuring BJ a few times, it was interesting to learn the would-be sequel had planned a lot of scenes with him just being...well, himself. Some of them were kind of fun, like this scene where he just hypnotizes a woman into giving him free cheeseburgers.
Actually, a lot of the scenes felt like they could’ve been used in the cartoon. Maybe they were... (???).Â
Thumbnail comic. This one feels super sketchy. Midway through my ballpoint pens felt like they were running out of ink. Was it you, Rumpelstiltskin? Did you use up all my ink?
R: “Drawing me comes at a price!”
The dialogue was meant to be just vague enough to imply whatever you want it to imply. But BJ is a demon so his idea of fun would be messing with everyone equally.
Surprise! It’s not a Beetljuice drawing - but he is crazy. Layering different colored ballpoint pens and going off of my memory of what Rumpelstiltskin use to look like before he became more...”sane” (boring?).
Not.
It seemed like such a cute idea - BJ sitting there pulling petals off a flower. But then it got dark and possessive really fast. Well, pulling petals off a flower is rather cruel to flowers. Kind of makes you think, huh?
Oh, you’re wondering why all the petals showed up again? That was intentional. Everything I do is intentional.Just think about it. You’ll see.
I almost forgot about this little Mr. Dark sketch. Surprise!
Don’t smoke.
