Year 11 trip to the V&A, October 2014 - Study of Kimonos, Pattern and Textiles.

Year 11 SJBC Artist’s visited London’s Victoria & Albert Museum on Monday to study Japanese and Chinese Artwork and Costume. The group produced beautiful sketches and skilled photography to put towards their coursework project titled ‘Ordinary/Extraordinary’. Year 11 will be producing their own Kimono designs based on the trip

SJBC Art Mural - Our Lady Queen of Heaven Primary school 

The purpose of this project was to help build girls self esteem through art.  They all seemed to really enjoy working together as a team and enjoyed the attention they got at break times when the younger children crowded around to watch them at work.  The weather was great too and perfect for mural painting.

  The subject matter for the murals was ‘The Gruffalo’ which was painted outside the year 2 class room and the ‘Great Scientists’ which was painted outside the year 5 class room.

  This was a really wonderful experience for the girls involved and they were a pleasure to be with.

Young Art at the RCA - 2014

Here are three photographs of the year 9 students who attended the private view and opening evening of the Young Art Exhibition at the Royal College of Art last night. 

The exhibition was in aid of cancer research for children and our students raised £100 by painting a picture based on the theme Life on Earth. There were over 7000 entries from different schools and 7 of our SJBC students got into the exhibition which is a great achievement. 

Laju Lori Skinn got a highly commended.   The other students whose art work is currently being exhibited include: Leianne Aquino Meija, Kiran Nangla, Hershey Pasicolan, Greta Miftari, Michael Espinosa and Jaber Hussain.

We are immensely proud of their achievements and delighted to have their work exhibited in such a prestigious venue, especially as the event contributes to such a worthy cause.

SJBC Art Students took part in the annual 'Young Art' exhibition at the Royal College of Art, London. The Event is a showcase of children’s artwork which raises funds for Cancer Research UK. Approximately 7,000 paintings by pupils aged between 4 and 18 will be on display.
