These are words or terms (both in English and Norwegian) that may clarify things, words that have a language barrier, or cultural differences. Note: some things may be specific to some seasons.
Alt er love - Specific to season 3. Translates to “Everything is love”.
Ass - abbreviation of the word ‘altså’, which is typically added at the end of a sentence, meaning thus, hence, therefore, etc.
Balloon Squad - Specific to season 4, alluded to in season 3. Refers to the five boys, Elias Bakkoush, Yousef Acar, Mikael Øverlie Boukhal, Adam Malik, and Mutasim Tatouti.
Boy Squad - Specific to season 3. refers to a group of characters - Isak, Jonas, Madhi, and Magnus.
The 2 Chrises - Chris B. refers to girl Chris, while Chris P. or Penetrator Chris refers to male Chris.
The Collective / The Flat - The apartment in season 2 that Linn, Eskild, and Noora live in, and (SPOILER) in season three that Linn,Noora, Eskild, and Isak live in. The collective just means it’s a shared apartment.
Digg - In context to person it generally means awesome, cool, good looking or sexy. Could also be used in contexts of food, which would mean yummy or delicious.
Fy Faen - expression that just means “dammit” or “oh shit”. Usually the subs translate it to “fucking hell” but it’s not really quite that crude.
Girl Squad - refers to a group of characters - Eva Kviig Mohn , Noora Sætre, Sana Bakkoush, Vilde Lien Hellerud , and Chris Berg.
Hei - “Hi” pronounced almost exactly the same
Hooke - came from the English slang of “hooking up”. In English, it typically means sex, but in Norway it usually means making out or heavy foreplay.
Jeg elsker deg - “I love you”
Kjæreste - a gender less term for boyfriend/girlfriend. Directly translates to “dearest”. Not specific to any season, but the genderless part is important in season 3 when (SPOILER) Isak is texting his parents and says “I have a Kjæreste. His name is Even. That’s a boy’s name. The reason he specifies that it is a boy is because it is a gender less term.
Kollektive / Kollektivet - The apartment in season 2 that Linn, Eskild, and Noora live in, and (SPOILER) in season three that Linn,Noora, Eskild, and Isak live in. The collective just means it’s a shared apartment.
Kos / Kose / Kosegruppa - Specific to season 3. Kos / Kose directly translates to ‘snuggles’, but is kind of untranslatable. It means the overall feeling of warmth and coziness you get with friends.
Russefeiring - also referred to as “Russ”. a Norwegian high school celebration in which students in their third year and second semester party really hard. Public drunkenness is usually associated with this tradition. It usually spans from late April and ends in mid May the same day as Norwegian Constitution Day. Usually if they are not in school, they are partying on their buss. A lot of times, kids wear corresponding clothes or colored overalls. Their friend groups get together and rent or purchase bus or a car.
Serr - shortened version of the word ‘seriøst’, which means seriously.
