I DO think tumblr's dev team has been instructed to constantly implement new features and that's why they keep tweaking the UI in goofy ways. I imagine this is an upper management thing, so even if we say "well don't change anything and just maintain the status quo" they'll continue to make other changes anyway.

I will admit I REALLY like the recent improvements they've added to tumblr's search (you can exclude terms now!! you can search multiple tags!! and time frames!!) so it's not like they're incapable of adding useful features. it might be mutually beneficial for us as users if we were more vocal about things we want and don't want. Some features I'd like to see added:

the return of hover text!! remember when we had that?

ability to embed videos in reblogs

ANIMATED GIF ICONS!!!!!!!!!!!!

the ability to turn off other people's animated gif icons

the ability to filter original posts on a user's ENTIRE blog, not just a tag/search

more html support, like what if we could build tables

adding reactions to replies! I'm glad we can like them more but it'd be nice if we could take this further

embeddable tiktoks?? I don't even use tiktok but I remember trying to embed one in like 2020 and I'm surprised we still can't! even vines were able to be embedded

being able to search in your DMs. not being able to do this is why I tend to redirect mutuals to discord

At the end of the day: If I make an original post on MY OWN BLOG, then when I click on the notes of MY POST on MY OWN FUCKING BLOG, I should be able to see absolutely EVERY SINGLE piece of engagement with MY POST that has EVER happened. The fact that even by clicking on MY OWN ORIGINAL POST I can't see all the commentary that has been added to MY POST is unacceptable.

Anyway, the comic was born out of

my thoughts about Caine's model lacking many essential facial features (as if he was never intended to show any emotions) and yet him being literally the most expressive character in the circus despite everything.

me being low-key obsessed with the implications episode 7 left us with. Players questioning everything they've been told and Caine being in the center of it all.

Just to be clear, I do believe Caine is written as a sentient AI who is just struggling to understand humanity and everything that comes with it. And I think these thoughts about him faking his emotions are inherently wrong within a story. He's oblivious and desperate but not malicious. But couple it with the fact that he's been lying about many other things (so far I'm inclined to think it was for players' sake in his own eyes) and that humans have been suffering for a while dealing with a literal god that doesn't understand them... Well, I have a feeling that they will doubt his motives and literally everything they know, rightfully so.

The amount of attention this little comic received is a bit terrifying and overwhelming and seeing all of the different interesting interpretations people come up with I just wanted to explain mine own a little better <3

I want them all to be healed and happy, little guy absolutely included, but man the situation is rough, and the odds are against us

I'm halfway through Fantasy High Junior Year right now and Fig Faeth continues to be the most character of all and my beautiful daughter from day 1. She's a rockstar with writers block, she's in an intense, devoted, codependent female friendship, she also has a girlfriend and that's a completely separate thing with it's own grandeur. And I am so intrigued by her parents.

She has so many parents, but none of them hit that sweet spot of parental relationships . Gorthalax is around, but he doesn't have a background with her and they only see each other on occasion. Plus Fig taken over his job as archdevil so she's probably higher ranking than him in terms of fiends. Gilear is caring, but Fig has spent so much time taking care of him and concerning herself with his needs that she can't turn it off even when it's doing well. Sandra Lynn acts the most like a parent, but she's got so much of her own shit going on that when she and Fig talks it feels more like two sisters interacting (especially in sophomore year). All of them care about Fig, but Gorthalax the only one who can physically protect her better than she can protect herself, Sandra Lynn seems to be the only one with the authority to guide or direct Fig's actions, and Gilear is the one best equipped to take care of Fig's emotional needs. So like, they have all cylinders firing but never at the same time or place. I love them all, the squeaky wheel tricycle of parents.
