@sketchbooksaints
Something different. Sketching with a blade.
Who knows what Trick or Treat 2020 has in store for us.
Stuck in creative rut? Autumn is the best time of the year to get inspired. There are so many great subjects to experiment with. When all else fails...Paint skulls on rocks...why not?
No excuses...dont have your good pens and stock? Ball point pen and cardboard works just fine...and a white colored pencil. And yes, to answer a question..there is a tentacle theme developing here.
Again, it starts with an eye. From there, its anyone’s guess...
Quick sketch in the waiting area for an oil change...Wasn't feeling particularly "chatty" today...and you can usually feel when people are glancing curiously at you, the one person NOT using an electronic device to pass the time...if you leave the sketchbook in plain sight when you get up to get coffee, with these sorts of sketches, social distancing isn't usually a problem.
Well, it started as an eye...then it was a fish, a squid and then... I'm just not sure....
It’s a different kind of Easter this year......for everyone...
I can't remember the last time I used watercolors (we're talkin' decades). I forgot how much life they can add to sketches......soooo, Why not? "As I've always said, I prefer your lips red. Not what the good Lord made, but what he intended." -Roger Waters
Sometimes you think..."I'm just gonna sketch somethin', but what?" "Oh, maybe something retro, yeah that's always cool"
Then, the weirdness sets in....
A quick sketch dedicated to all of us that make bad decisions, most of mine, especially today, are food related.
What's the point of having a skill if you're not willing to push yourself and/or work to improve that skill. I've always struggled with portraiture. Don't be afraid to post quick sketches, works in progress and experiments. By doing this you can see where to focus your attention and you'll develop a thicker skin when dealing with your critics.
I scribbled this out with 2 colored pencils and a charcoal pencil on some sort of black stock of unknown origin I found in a desk drawer. Yeah, it needs work.
Way back Wednesday... was doing some cleaning and found these old sketchbook pages from maybe 15 years ago.
A somewhat "non-traditional" Santa Claus, post holiday sketch.
