Went for a more simplified, predatory feline-ish feel, which also is more menacing lmao
Also less colours bc the previous ones didn’t feel quite right anymore, and a couple outfits options!))

Fur rippled down their back, cup slowly being lowered to the table. “A surprise, yes,” they agreed, staring hard at Ray as they nodded. “But this is also very new to the both of us,” a smile grew on their face, sickeningly sweet and maybe just a bit too sharp to be genuine. “You are the first we’ve told about this.”
Anoor shook their head softly, choosing to ignore the brief, intense heat on their shoulder before Ray removed her hand. “You know me Lionel, I like to keep things to myself,” they looked back to their friend, reigning in their disdain and the edge in their voice. “But she insisted.”
“Ha! You did get me! I never woulda guessed.” Lionel laughed in that deep, bassy tone of his. He returned the shoulder punch to Ray, also noting just how hard she hit him. That almost hurt. He just guessed because he’s such a big guy with a lot of cushion, she’s have to be a li’l more forceful for him to feel it.
His eyes lit up with awe when Anoor said he was the first they’ve told, “Aw jee, that’s kinda honouring.” He said, rubbing the back of his neck, a very slight flush to his cheeks. “And I promise not to tell a soul without your express permission.” He put one paw on his chest and another in the air, holding up three fingers, “Monster Scouts Honour!”
Lionel looked between them again, smiling at both, his ears wiggling. He then squeaked in surprise, a thought occurring to him. “Oh I must get the Great Lutri’s blessings for you two! Just a second!” And before either of them could stop him, Lionel was off, dashing back into the bakery.
Nonononononono. She reached hand out to lionel, hoping to grab him before he left, but he was gone like a shot. Her outstretched hand was grasping at nothing. “O-Okay Lionel! Hurry back now!” She waved him off with a smile, a smile that faltered not long after.
She buried her head into her hands, bunching the feathers at the sides of her head into her fists. The lean sinews in her forearms were taut as her grip tightened even more. “You shoulda killed me when I gave you the chance.”
The smile on their face melted away with each step Lionel took, their face a blank slate when they turned their gaze to Ray, eyes glowing vicious in the black holes.
“Oh believe me, darling,” their voice dripped with venom, lifting a hand to snake a claw under her chin, “I sincerely regret my decision not to.”
A deep, rumbling growl rattled up their throat, the tip of their claw poking sharply into the soft skin, lifting her head up. “Of all the stupid ideas you could come up with, this is your best option?” Anoor scoffed, tearing their hand away with an expression like they’d accidentally touched something disgusting. “Dating. If I wasn’t worried about scarring Lionel for life, I’d tear you apart right now for the mere suggestion. No,” they turned their eyes back to her, the toxic glow burning into her core, “the time for take-backs is over. But dig this hole any deeper and I will find a way to make you regret it until your last breath, trust me on that.”
Once again, Lionel rolled out of the cafe and back into his seat, a small plate in hand. On the plate appeared to be a fish, but closer inspection it was actually a cake! It’s fins and scales all handcrafted in fondant. Lionel put it down in the middle of the table, sitting quietly for a moment.
“There, that’s all there is to it! Our blessings to you!” Lionel chirped, “And as for the li’l fish cake offering, someone can eat it, if they want to. Or I can..” His eyes darted to said cake while he spoke, sparkling with delight. “Miss Donuts makes these special. They’re a feast for the eyes and the mouth!” He began to waffle on, once again singing his praises for his friend’s baking.
Lionel caught himself after a while, looking sheepish again. “Sorry, you know me, I really like sweets.” He chuckled, “So anything going on with you two? Any plans for later?” He asked, so not to get caught in another ramble, and let his friends get a word in edge-ways.
Even though she hated everything about this situation, she couldn’t help admit, she was starting to revel in Anoor’s discomfort. She wasn’t much better off herself, but she had to take whatever pleasure she could get out of this waking nightmare, “Alright, fine” She jabbed a finger into the creature’s long neck, “You want to lie to the poor bastard instead? Be my guest.”
Her tone immediately lightened once Lionel barrelled through the door. As he waffled on and on, she sat there in silence, staring at his gift. Pulling this façade was hard enough as it was, but when he’s going out of his way just for her sake(and Anoor’s too, though she didn’t want to take notice of that)? “Oh… thank you so much Lionel! I think I might have a slice…” she grabbed for a knife, yet she could only hover it over the cake. She didn’t want to destroy it, she felt like she had destroyed Lionel’s trust enough as it was. Welp, it was only going to be eaten anyways, besides, imagining the knife driving through Anoor’s flesh made it far easier.
Her eyes were starting to moisten, she was almost ready to spill the truth, but Lionel’s question allowed for a quick diversion. “A-ah! Yes! We– uh, Anoor! Has planned something very special for us tonight!” She directed an open palm, passing the question to them, “Please! Enlighten our good friend.”
Anoor had a biting remark ready, but before they managed to open their mouth, Lionel came rolling back out of the café, all smiles and excitement and a plate offered to the two of them. A plate with a cake that was somehow more than just food, if they understood Lionel’s words correctly, and for a moment their resolve to continue this faltered. Sure, they were used to lying, to keeping a facade up, but.. It didn’t feel right, not with how easily Lionel accepted their lie as truth, or how genuinely happy for them he seemed.
But they’d rather still keep the lie up and the smile on his face, than reveal it and see it disappear. “Thank you,” they finally said, voice softer than they’d intended, gaze having stayed on the cake while their thoughts ran off. Stalling for time to gather themself and their thoughts, they grabbed the mug of chai and drank. How was one supposed to act in these situations?
Immediately gone in their own mind, their body visibly flinched when Ray’s grating voice called their name and attention back to the table, glowing eyes rising from the mug in their hands. “I.. have,” they just barely managed to turn their question into a statement, slowly lowering their drink back down on the table. “I wanted to treat Ray to a nice evening, so-” the words burned on their way out, smile on their face hiding a grimace, “-I’m treating her to a five-course dinner, and a rum tasting either later tonight, or tomorrow.” Their tail swished behind them, a claw tapping a staccato on their mug.
A nightmare: You have to relive your most traumatic experiences over and over and over again in such vivid detail that it isn't possible to tell if it's happening in reality or not. And you're not able to wake yourself.
The shadows were too deep. They couldn’t see, only hear the sharp, strained sobs from the figure beside them, feel hands buried in their fur, feel how they shook even with Anoor’s body and neck wrapped around them.
The shadows shifted. Their body hurt more than ever, more than the ever-present jabs of heat in their neck. Lightning tingling through their backlegs with every movement, their tail like shattered ice, cold and grinding. There were arms around their head, a voice in their ear full of tears. A weak purr in their throat that only made the boy choke back a sob and hold them tighter.
Then there was a light, and the boy was torn from them with a cry, hands holding him down, even more hands on Anoor as they tried to stand. Collars and binds tied them down, pricking white-hot dots of pain into their legs and neck. They could only watch, too weak to fight.
Could only watch as angry, mocking words turned to punches and kicks, could only watch as the boy’s siblings turned on him and beat him down in front of Anoor. Could only watch as his head cracked against the floor with a sickening sound that made time stand still.
Only them could they move, the hands on them no longer holding them down, crawling to the still body with a keening sound. He didn’t move. He didn’t breathe.
Even when they nudged his hand and licked his cheek did he not move, eyes staring empty, tears staining his face. He was gone.
Gone, gone, gone, dead, killed, he was gone and Anoor felt something break inside of them, a snap so loud the figures in the room should have heard it. Instead they saw the shadows rolling in around the edges of their vision, an unearthly scream leaving their lungs before the darkness overtook everything again, playing the scene again and again and again and again until there was nothing but the pain and the fear and the intense ache in their chest.
Anoor woke, hours later, breath shallow and eyes scrunched shut, curled in on themself, phantom pains (real pains?) stabbing through their body. Slowly they pried an eye open, taking in the dark room they slept in, recognition slow to ease their mind.
The pulled out of bed, shaking blankets off their body as they padded to the window, tapping the glass with a sharp claw. A nightmare. One more to add to the collection. Just a dream.
Their chest tightened at the thought, a feeling like shards of glass grating against each other. No, it- it wasn’t-
A sharp stab of pain in their left eye made the monster snarl and bring a hand to their face, eyes screwed shut until the pain ebbed away, leaving only a cold feeling behind.
Not a dream, not even a nightmare. A memory.
Who..?
Nightmare: It is a completely normal day, in fact it's a good one. Anoor's in the kitchen boiling water, and they look in the cupboard, only to find... There's NO TEA! DUN DUN DUN >:3c!
They were in a good mood. They’d woken early, considering it was their day off, the sun shining gold and warm in through their windows, blankets soft and snug around their body. Anoor felt rested as they got out of bed, stretching their long body before padding to the kitchen, humming a soft tune under their breath. The apartment was clean and bright, the couch looking ever so inviting as they passed the living room, making a mental note to laze about as soon as they had tea in hand.
Filling and starting the kettle was done fast, the soft murmur of the water heating up filling the room with background noise while the barista picked out a cup from the many in their cupboards. A special little one with shiny crystals growing off the side of it.
Reaching out for the small tin beside the kettle they pulled the lid off, tea egg ready to be filled and put in the cup, but instead they stopped cold in their tracks.
The tin was empty. They didn’t remember using the last of the leaves. No worries, just grab another blend. Shaking their head, Anoor opened another cupboard and pulled out a different tin, popping the lid off. Empty.
They picked out another. Empty as well. Their mouth felt dry, a cool dread in their limbs. Empty. Empty. Empty.
They were all empty. There was no tea left.
Anoor woke with a start, head swivelling around in the bright room, claws dug into their blankets. Just a dream.
Just a dream.
They certainly didn’t unceremoniously run to the kitchen to make sure that they did, in fact, have tea in their cupboards. Just a stupid nightmare.

Anoor nodded politely at the monster who came out of the café. Miss Donuts, as Lionel called her. “And you as well,” their gaze lingered on her a moment before snapping back to the phoenix when she spoke, the faintest of glows surrounding their pupils.
“Agreed. Just look at us now.” the smile accompanying the comment was icy and disappeared fast, claws tapping on the table.
Anoor’s ear twitched at the question, leaning back in their chair. “Lionel offered me some help when I didn’t expect it, and I went back to thank him. We just went from there.” Hopefully Lionel wouldn’t comment on the conscious omission of details surrounding that whole debacle.
“It’s so wonderful we all can be here and friends!” Lionel clapped his paws together happily. He did notice how vague Anoor’s answer was, but simply nodded in respond. They probably didn’t want to say how they were rather drunk and rude that night.
But before Lionel could of said anything anyways, Donuts was back out with their drinks. Black coffee for Ray, spicy chai for Anoor, and possibly the biggest honeycomb latte to have been made, topped with a mountain of whipped cream and li’l bits of chocolate honeycomb. Lionel looked so excited, he might have fallen out of the chair.

It was another moment before Lionel practically tumbled back out of the cafe, balancing a stack of pastries that somehow didn’t spill all over the floor. He sat back down with his friends, the remains of a treat with blue frosting around his mouth.
“Sorry for the wait friends! Just a bit of a sticky situation Derby needed some extra paws for, it’s all sorted now!” He grinned at the both of them. He turned his attention to his sweets, happily biting into his favourite, a donut of course! His whole body relaxed, as he lost himself in a sweet, sugary bliss.
After a minute or so of being in his daydream, Lionel floated back to reality, pondering something. “So what do you two do when you get together eh? I’d imagine it’d be a quiet night with a drink or two. Ooh! We could do a movie night together at some point!” He said, before taking a sip of his drink. (And getting whipped cream on his nose!)
“I suppose it does.”
Her demeanour relaxed once Lionel came into eyeshot. That sweet grin of his was infectious to her, making even Anoor melt away into the city’s noise. But once his questions were posed, she froze.
“We…” she thought hard, the possibilities swirled around in her head, “are..” time was running out, she exchanged panicked glances with Anoor, “dating!”. The feathers around her neck shuddered in waves when she realised what she just said. No turning back now.
“Y-yeah! We’re dating!” She exclaimed with a dumb smile on her face. She could feel vomit starting to crawl up her throat. She grasped onto Anoor’s shoulder, pulling them close to her, claws digging into their flesh, “Oho! ain’t nothing quiet when we’re both on the booze!” Every muscle in her body shuddered all the while, screaming at her to run for it, “We always got the whole bar chanting our name with a few shots in us! Don’t we babe?”
“And a movie night would be great! Let’s just hope neither of us are-” Her grip tightened even more, nails threatening to puncture skin at any given moment, “-busy.”
Anoor nodded at Lionel when he returned, quirking a brow at the stack of sweets the Lutri was balancing. How he managed to not drop a single one was beyond the barista.
They slowly sipped their tea, enjoying the warm liquid. It was a good blend, and delightfully spicy, maybe they should actually ask who made this, share some recipes teamaker to teamaker. Their claws tightened just a fraction around the cup, eyes darting to Ray when she began answering that question. Their eyes locked, barely hidden panic clouding her amber gaze. They’d only just agreed on a truce, and already there was a question they couldn’t truthfully answer. A vague answer could probably work, Lionel had already given them an easy out.
But they didn’t have a chance to even open their mouth before that word left Ray’s beak. ‘Dating’. An awful, terrible lie, but no sooner was it said before she plastered a grin on her face and wrapped an arm around them, pulling the tall monster close with a vice-like grip on their shoulder. They couldn’t help how their entire body tensed up at the contact, body frozen in horror at the suggestion and overwhelming rage that she dared touch them. Their claws twitched on the cup with the desire to rip her hand from their shoulder, rip it from her arm to never touch them again.
Instead they forced their body to relax, putting the cup down just a bit to nod a toothy smile down at the phoenix. “You’re absolutely right, darling.” They chuckled, hiding the itch in their teeth and the fire in their chest with the mirthful sound. “You wouldn’t believe the things she’ll do if the crowds chant loud enough.”
But as much as they were lying through their teeth, just as honest was the smile they sent Lionel when they looked back to the Lutri, his nose topped with a smidgen of whipped cream. “I agree, movie night sounds-” their tail swished behind them when Ray’s nails dug into their skin, smile brightening up a notch, “-delightful. I sure hope we can find a date that works for all of us.”

Almost. “But,” and they flicked their claw against her beak, the smooth back of it pressing against her chin in a mockery of affection when they pulled their hand back, “I have no desire or intention to hurt him. He reached out when I did not deserve it, and I am loathe to lose that.”
They folded their hands around the mug of tea. “If that means I have to play along with this, then so be it. That, if anything, is a price I’m willing to pay.” They carefully lifted the mug and considered the chai inside for a moment. “I suppose this means a truce.”

(Closed RP with @ray-coming-at-ya and @skindogben )
A few weeks after being visited by the long, furry monster barista, Anoor, Lionel decided to invite them to coffee at his friend’s cafe. Lionel liked to have his friend circle quite closely knit, so he invited Ray too, and then all his friends could meet!
The Lutritudo waited excitedly yet patiently, in the front of Donuts’, his tail swishing just above the ground. It was a rather quiet day, not too much hustle and bustle. A gentle breeze picked up the scent of fresh baked goods, causing it to waft down the streets.
Lionel looked between Donuts and the other Lutri, Derby, working, and down the street. He wondered which of his friends he’d see come down the road first.
Ray glanced between the street and the map on her phone, almost falling over storm drains and having far too many near-misses with pedestrians. Once the scent of freshly made donuts crawled into her nostrils, she was certain she was going the right way, noticing that familiar hair curl not long after. “Oh, look at that! First time anyone’s been later than me!” She dropped onto a nearby chair, smacking her pelvis against the seat with very little grace. “Sooooooo… is your friend hot?”
Anoor shook themselves slightly, a clawed hand smoothing down the fabric of their top. Normally they didn’t care for wearing clothes, but normal didn’t include having a hole in their chest. And having a glowing green hole in your chest probably wasn’t the best first impression to make, so for the sake of Lionel’s friend Anoor had decided to wear something that covered and hid the wound, while still making them look fashionable. With a dash of expensive jewelry on the side, of course.
Finding the café was easy enough though, after having looked up directions from their apartment. It just took a little longer than expected to actually get there, which meant Anoor was running a little late.
When they finally saw the café, an easy smile slid onto their face at the sight of the big, pink security guard sitting outside. But as they walked closer, their smile faltered, eyes zeroing in on the monster sitting at the same table. You had to be kidding them.
“Lionel,” coming to a stop beside the table, they sent the Lutri a smile, nodding their head slightly in greeting. “And.. Ray.”
The smile she got was more teeth than anything else. “So good to see you again.”
“Already planning on flirting Ray?” Lionel chuckled, giving his friend a light punch on the shoulder (or rather almost the entirety of her side because of his huge paw), “They shouldn’t be too long now, and then you can decide that.”
Lionel kept his eyes on the streets for the other monster, and giving them a smile and wave upon seeing them. “Anoor, I’m glad you could make it!” Lionel gestured to the seat on his other side. He then gestured to Ray, “And this is my other friend- Wait..”
Lionel took a moment to register the fact Anoor knew Ray’s name before even introducing her. He put up his paws, eyes going wide with realisation. “You two know each other already!? This is great!!” He squeaked excitedly, his tail loudly thumping against the ground. He looked between the two of them, and he couldn’t help but give the biggest beam of his life.
Lionel had gotten himself so excited, he began to say something but in Lutri tongue! For as happy as he was, he needed to calm down a bit, or he might pass out. He took a few breaths and started speaking again, in English this time. “So now that we’re all here, what do you two feel like having? And don’t worry, it’s my treat!” He smiled at both of them again, his ears wiggling.
She sat there in complete silence as Lionel gibbered to the two of them, staring at Anoor, hoping to all the powers in the universe that she was just having a horrid hallucination. That she was passed out in a gutter somewhere and that furry abomination was simply a figment of some fever dream. She dragged her fingers along the length of her wind pipe, feeling all of the bumps and ridges… feeling the teeth digging in.
“Great…” She said quietly, “It’s always good to see you again, Anoor…” Her beak curled up into a cold smile. Her clenched fists rested on the table, smoke dripping through the gaps of her fingers. A faint glow made the skin on her hands look almost transparent, showing all of the veins and tendons that resided in her palms. The smell of donuts was slowly being overpowered by the scent of grilled chicken.
She was ready to leap over the table and see how many white hot knives and forks she could shove into Anoor’s eye sockets. The thump of Lutritudo’s tail on the ground, however, seemed to make her think twice about that. “Black coffee’ll do me for now.” She stated through clenched teeth.
The smile on Anoor’s face only grew toothier when they noticed how Ray touched her throat. They’d gladly keep her to the promise they made last time they saw her.
“The world sure is a small place,” they deliberately kept their tone light, sinking down into the remaining chair, eyes not straying from Ray. “I never would have guessed you two knew each other.”
Their claws twitched, hands resting on the edge of the table in an all too relaxed manner. They remembered the feeling of those hands, remembered the fire. How they’d love to make an end to that infernal glow illuminating her fingers.
“I’ll take a spicy chai, thank you.” They finally tore their gaze from Ray, facing Lionel with a thin smile, one ear inconspicuously trained on the phoenix.
