"I want to be as beautiful as the ocean"
Wouldn’t it be nice to have a hand to hold?
A long post, for myself.
Something I think that people tend to look over or excuse is how runners, especially college women, are like an exception to a rule when it comes to appearance. I have graduated college now, so my distance running career in athletics is done. Now it’s up to me to run on my own and race on my own.
This summer I had a hard time motivating myself to do it, because I wanted a break. I went from 115 to 124 in only a few months, but I know some mileage will pull this weight back off. I know that an ED has more to do with the mental perception of food than what you look like, I just felt like putting this out there that you can look how you want and successfully get there in a way that others may not think about.
By running four miles a day and eating 1200 calories (eating usually a few hours before running) I was able to lose soooo much, and not compromise my sleep, skin tone, or health in a major way. I won’t pretend I didn’t bruise up constantly, but I never had hair loss. My preference to the aesthetic I like to keep my body has a lot of impact, but my body has always looked like a ballerina or a distance runner’s. Something that I learned in SEVERAL of my classes in exercise science is that the BMI chart does not have great accuracy when it comes to distance athletes, because it would say that they were too low to be healthy when this was not the case. Same was true for body builders, their BMI would say they were morbidly obese rather than the absolute muscle bound beast that they were.
I still fit in all my clothes even with the weight flux. Which tells me most of what I have gained has been because I lost muscle and gained fat. And also, I am aware that I am not fat. But I was happier with how I looked a few months ago rather than now. But that’s all gonna change, because I have a half marathon in February, and I’m not gonna show up on a race line the way I am now. I love looking fast, I love my body tight and ribs showing. So that’s what I’m going to do.

“Take care of your appearance, dress well, wear some perfume, and use manners even if you’re just staying home. Beauty and elegance isn’t only for the public; it’s for you in your privacy too. A finer way of living.”
