Wedding dresses in non-replica versions
2004 movie: Design wise it reminds of the one Teri Polo wore in the 1990 miniseries. But OH the lush materials, gentle lace, and just a tiny lil’ hint of mint green in seams and details that really makes the dress look antique. I saw this one up close in London and loved it. Probably my favourite from the movie. Design by Alexandra Byrne.
Czech Republic: The first non-replica tage production to feature Christine in a wedding dress, hence very exciting to see their take on it. I see similarities to the movie one in the bodice and silhouette, but the skirt has a more independent design. I love the textures and hint of silver in this one. Design by Roman Solc.
Estonia: Following the Czech production only two months later, it was cool to see another non-replica production also doing a wedding dress for Christine. This also has an off-shoulder solution with fringes and drapes in the skirt, like the movie one. But the overall look is somehow more modern day. Design by Ellen Cairns.
Restaged UK Tour: OK, so technically a replica version. But seriously. Subpar fit, and sad level of decorations. It looks like a toile. Grumble. I refuse to credit this one to Maria Bjørnson.
Mirror bride dresses: In Hungary (left) and Poland (right) they do have a mirror bride appearing in wedding dress, but we never see Christine wearing it. Hungarian design by Nelly Vágó, and Polish design by Magdalena Tesławska / Paweł Grabarczyk.
