In this world, space is seen as both the Devil's domain and the pathway to God, since besides the Sun/God, everything else has been swallowed up by the darkness. Vampires who are captured are typically executed by being sent outside, where they burn up from the light of the Sun (or the Light of God). By going outside to hunt a vampire, in the eyes of the Church, Soleil is risking her soul, not just her body, to fight these creatures.

currently working on some tragic lesbians that will rival Nat and Mai in terms of yearning and tragedy guys.....like....imagine you're vampire hunters and have to hide your relationship from the church....and then one of you gets turned and kills your mentor....and then gets 'executed' by the church but really goes into hiding for 47 years.....and then the remaining one grows old and becomes High Priest....and then you reunite but one of you still looks 25....and you both love each other but your religion and perceptions of evil get in the way and then you both die when the sun burns up.

In an otherwise dead universe, a cathedral orbits the Sun. Named the Hand of God by its inhabitants, the station is the last bastion against the encroaching darkness brought about by the Devil and his servants: soulless creatures called vampires. With the Sun - God's Light and Shield - as their guide and defender, warrior priests hunt the vampires on the station, protecting God's flock from those who wish them ill.
Soleil and Tyvern are two such warrior priests, raised in the church to be ruthless and just killers. Hiding their intimate relationship from their elders, the two work together to hunt down the vampire clans of the station. However, they discover a terrifying secret at the heart of the church - one that will change their lives forever.
