Simple rules to help promote movement in combat
It lets melee combat feel a bit better than running up and slugging it out until someone drops
Even more fanfic for my dnd oc Beacon <3
They had to invent a new sin for them <3
Semi-emergency writing commissions!
Hi! My shitty retail job sent me from full time to part time with half of my hours and now without health insurance, just as I was going to finally start getting ADHD treatment and HRT
I'm trying to get my financial situation sorted and will have plenty more free time, so I'd like to try and write some commissions!
My rate is about $.02 per word, so $1 for 50 words, $2 for 100, $5 for 250 words, etc etc. That's my minimum, I tend to ramble, so you may receive a little extra if my brain rot kicks in
Iii will not pretend to be the most prolific writer, the only commission work I've ever really received has been creative work for homestuck, specifically classpects. Power analysis and land analysis is kind of my bread and butter, but I've done all sorts of things like sessions, items, etc
You can find my work here:
https://creative-classpect.tumblr.com/tagged/Land Analysis
https://creative-classpect.tumblr.com/classpects
I also have some minor experience in short fiction! These are some minor pieces I have written here, on this blog
I'm also very interested in dnd, monster of the week, and lancer! I've been a dm and player for a decade now and have a lot of experience, both in terms of writing flavor text/narration and designing homebrew items, classes and subclasses, ancestries, etc. You can find most of my work for that over here: https://homebrewery.naturalcrit.com/user/kess09?sort=alpha&dir=asc
---
Really, I'm open to just about anything! I'm certainly willing to try!
You can commission me here: https://ko-fi.com/kesscal
If you can not commission me, I would still really appreciate if you could make a small donation or share this post! <3
I appreciate you dearly <3
Hiii my commissions are open :3
Support Kess Callaghan
I'm also open to art trades! Just dm me :3 !
Random dnd subclasses I don't think I ever posted
Ok hope you like theeeem!

Beacon’s last conversation with The Riptide
“I said you performed fine. Did you want a reward for failure?” Mirell said coldly, her eyes never looking up from her maps and reports. Beacon grimaced, gripping their hands so tightly that their nails drew blood.
“I am not some child in search of validation. I asked you a simple question that you refuse to answer! Do you-”
“No.”
“Are you serious? Mirell, I-”
“Yes, Beacon, I am serious. Really. Your little ‘battle scars’ simply do not impress me. A resounding: No, I am not proud of you. You failed. You didn’t even die trying.” she said dismissively, with the same tone and intonation as one may order their regular drink.
“I did better than a courtesan had any right to.” Beacon spat.
“Of course, my pearl, of course.” she cooed, mockingly.
Mirell made a small wave with her hand, a familiar beckoning gesture. Beacon readily obliged, walking behind her chair and lovingly wrapping their arms around her shoulders. Beacon had draped over her like this a thousand times, their touch and caress as gentle and tender as ever, careful not to have their blood touch her fine silks. As warm and thoughtful and as loving as Beacon’s touch was, the expression never reaches their face, never touching their single, unblinking, solitary eye.
“I didn’t expect you to perform well. You are not exactly a warrior, my pearl. But for what you are, you performed fine.”
Mirell lightly traced a long claw across Beacon’s arm, following the trail of blood running down their forearm. She curled her talons around their wrist, pulling Beacon closer and pressing her lips to their arm, kissing the blood stain and breathing deeply. She smiled.
“Thank you for putting on my favorite perfume, my pearl. You’re so pretty when you’re angry.”
Beacon’s voice was a low whisper, like a small escape of breath that was physically pressed out of them. To Mirell Grimlock it was music to her ears.
“Anything for you.”
--
This was Beacon’s last conversation with Riptide. They left that night, slowly traveling north and sleeping on the side of the road. They joined the party 3 days later.

(I've been actually writing a bunch lately :3 ! My character has an evil toxic dommy mommy that's a dragon lady <3 I wanna write more fun evil stuff with her
Part of why I had so much fun with this was at the time of writing I had 2 sessions back to back of visiting Beacon's current their partner's homes and meeting their families + 2 private rp conversations about their relationships. So I had a ton of fun developing exactly what their past abusive relationship looked like <3 and both of their partners players want to beat the shit out of Riptide <3 im winning <3 yaaaay :33
Embershroud
Art source: David Ko
Embershroud turned back to Beacon. Their size was prodigious, as large as a cart. Their fur ruffled with smoke and soot, fire blazing through them still. Their eyes, like burning coals, softened. In a small, innocent, squeaky bat voice Embershroud asked.
"Why do they look at me like that? Like they're scared of me... did I do something wrong, Mx. Beacon?"
Beacon turned to look towards the people, the townsfolk that gathered for the exorcism. Some were family of the dead, others were concerned neighbors. In a voice like soothing water, Beacon spoke.
"No, not at all dear. You did a very good job, but you've grown so big! They're small. And it can be very scary to be small."
"Oh... I see... are they... are they mad at me?"
"Not at all, dear. Not at all. You didn't hurt them."
Embershroud bristled, looking back down to the bodies on the floor. Half of the smoldering corpses in the room belonged to the family of the house. The other half belonged to the raiders who set the house on fire. Poor little embershroud, a tiny soot sprite living in the chimney, saw the fire and rushed to aid. The damage was done. The raiders already killed those inside. Embershroud, growing to incredible size from the housefire, engulfed the attackers in flames. Unwilling to part with the family that fed them, that housed them, Embershroud continued to burn. It was morning now and the families, friends, and loved ones of the home wanted to pay their respects and honor their dead.
Embershroud snorted out soot like a chimney sweep, thick smoke plooming from them. Beacon restrained themself from choking as to not offend them. In the same small, innocent voice, to small for a body so large, Embershroud told Beacon
"I think I'm ready to go now. You'll take good care of them, right?"
"I will, dear."
"You promise?"
"I promise, dear"
Beacon placed their hand on Embershroud's head, petting the bat/boar spirit's fur and brought them into the Tower

So I started writing more for Beacon and I wanted to write a little about one of their spirits, Embershroud <3
Dnd party idea I heard a million years ago that I'd like to implement now
Which is funny because it's all homebrew classes lmao
The pitch: the party is all awakened magic items out to save their creator/avenge their dead creator
Weaveknights are arcane halfcasters to match paladins and rangers, wizard martials.
Spellbreakers are abjuration masters with magic armor/shield. A chestpiece made from the lock to the tower
Artillerists send out bursts of energy. A magic staff or wand belonging to their creator
Spymasters are divination experts. The mage's crystal ball
Vessels are people with powerful sealed entities inside of them. The creator entity is based around, you guessed it, buildings and constructs. They could be the tower itself, transforming into a stone mech
Commander is a class based on old warlord stuff, command the battlefield and resources. Think Cecil Stedman, Amanda Waller, Nick Fury. A Soul Eater based subclass where you turn into a weapoooon :3 im working on that one atm, no clue how that ties into it but you see the vision
You See The Vision
My personal hag lore is they are parasites to the weave itself, gorging themselves on magic until it twists, warps, and mutates their mind, body, and soul
In this way, any creature type can have hags. Extraplanar creatures like angels, devils, and elementals can have their own hags
Hags are always trangressive, something entirely anithetical to how people typically act
They are shunned and outcast by their nature, only finding understanding with other hags and even then, the coven structure is strict
Hiiii so here is some flash fiction I wrote for my oc
Oh yeah, I forgot to post this here
For a blog made to archive random shit I sure never use it
Ok so here is my jjk cursed technique <3
Cursed technique: Distant Shores
"A cursed technique with an unusually long range, Distant Shores allows the wielder to control vanishing points in the form of dark, all consuming water. It's users are able to conjure portals and gateways to a realm known as The Undertow, a turbulent ocean mimicking the deepest trenches. Wielders use this immense preasure difference to trap, crush, or implode their enemies.
No sorceror is able to survive prolonged exposure to the Undertow, not even it's own users. With the sole exception of Satarou Gojo, of course. "
Mechanics
Distant Shores possess a comfortable range of 3 miles, roughly the distance of the horizon. What it lacks in speed and variability, it makes up for with raw power and range. Akin to a landmine or arillery cannon, it excels as a decisive first strike ability. Only the size of its portals cost cursed energy, its range does not tax the user in any way.
The user must perform a hand sign to open a gate. Each gate requires cursed energy to maintain. The larger the gate, the larger the cost. A 10 foot wide gate can be comfortably held for about 10 minutes while a 90 foot gate can only be held for about 10 seconds. Additional gateways divides this time accordingly. The size has no impact on their crushing power, each is a nearly unescapable trap of crushing darkness. Nobody has ever survived more than 3 minutes in the Undertow and no wielder of the technique has survived more than 6 minutes.
The Undertow does not exist permanently as another realm, instead being conjured briefly by the technique, akin to an incomplete or open domain. For this reason, Distant Shores can not be used rapidly or in quick succession, requiring a build up of a few seconds before activation. Even brushing against it can cause someone to be dragged in, so mainting it is usually preferable as a form of zone control if a surprise attack doesn't work.
Due to the preassure of the Undertow, areas where Distant Shores was used have a unique cursed energy residual, feeling physically much heavier or lighter. This remanant feature allows the technique to he used much quicker while in a recently affected area, within about 3 hours.
Distant Shores can open a flat circle or sphere of thick, heavy, lightless fresh water. These areas are linked through the Undertow, appearing as distant pinpricks of light, akin to stars.
The maximum size of these gateways is directly related to their distance to the user.
Generally speaking,
10 feet while within 100 feet
20 feet while within 1,000 feet
30 feet while within 1 mile
Up to 60 feet wide for anything between 1 mile and 2 miles, to a maximum of 90 feet acrpss for anything between 2 to 3 miles away
Shikigami: The Drowned God, The Lost Titan. Leviathan
Leviathan is a shikigami bound and sealed by the clan. It's pacts have allowed it to exist beyond a singular user, instead living on the collective users in the clan and passed down through generations.
Leviathan is a megaladon roughly the size of a bus with 3 rows of teeth and 3 sets of eyes. It acts as an engine of the Undertow, able to strengthen it's effects and as a dangerous predator in the watery otherworld.
Leviathan is summoned by ritual tattoos on the user and a blood sacrifice to 'chum the waters'. Due to it's unique pacts and unnaturally long life without ever being banished or dismissed, Levithan can only be dispelled if all users are unconsious and enters a blood frenzy if its summoner is knocked unconsious or killed.
Leviathan is a solitary predator, viewing its summoner as little more than a nuetral hunting party, like a schooling fish.
Domain expansion: Void Between Stars
The user immediatly drags the surrounding area into the Undertow without a means of escape. Not only that, but the user becomes immune to the crushing weight, darkness, and rushing water of the Undertow.
Cursed tool: Uncharted Atlas
A world catalog with splotches of ink. The atlas allows areas marked by the Undertow to be preserved indefinetly, collecting areas used over generations. In practice, it allows for preparation and past uses of Distant Shores to be borrowed to either quickly open past gateways or to maintain gateways for little cost.

And that's what I gooot ^ 3 ^ I love The Vast and eldritch ocean/space powers
My brain rot is mixing, commander class but reflavor it as chronomancy and do some Lord English type shit
Temp hp as slowing people down or being totally immortal, all the system/strategy abilities as having performed the task
Any time an ability takes a while to use, like 10 minutes or an hour, it's them going "give me a minute" in the same way people say "give an inch and they'll take a mile"
Yeah so anyways I felt like making a warlord class for 5e
I don't like how people do warlord, it feels too passive and slow. Giving attacks to others means you aren't actually doing things yourself
I also don't like warlords with leadership dice or whatever, them having a resource feels kind of lame to me
My fixes for this currently is having some special attack actions for a taunt, a 'know your enemy' type of feature, and mark like in ye old times I didn't play
Bonus action for orders is funnn, I have some generic ones
Following up on that, I've been playing laserllama's puppeteer artificer and having a lot of fun with that support aspect. Part of it is reaction ways to give an ally an extra attack and what not. Cribbing off of that slightly and expanding, down the line warlord has a reaction to give an extra attack, retreat, or to reroll a saving throw
Other warlord thing so far is having a battlefield presence, some burst aoe support thing, not something permanent like a paladin aura. So far it's for repositioning, diffcult terrain + str/con save advantage, and one for half cover with advantage on dex saves
Current subclass ideas atm issss
- Magister for 1/3rd caster and some elemental spirit stuff
- Tyrant for a fear aoe and using hostile orders on enemies
- A stealth one for ninja leader things like hide order or a battlefield presence that creates heavy obscurement like smoke/fog you get to ignore. Some Assassin's Creed type stuff
- Aaand I have a siege master idea for some artiller barrage flaire
Aaaaaand thats all I'm really sitting with at the moment
My usual fashion of rambling in a spam discord channel about homebrew instead of posting here lol
I like the idea of "took a wrong turn" being a phrase among longer lived ancestries to describe the passage of time and alternate paths. Like people often say "in another life" but we get 80 on average. When you can expect to live 300, 500+ it feels more apt to describe it as taking a different path since you have the time
Like my character Beacon, a firbolg, and this vampire npc Ophelia, could have been friends and had a connection. But that was a mistep 20 years ago. Too long ago and settled to change that, but recent in the grand scheme of things to know it could have been different
Anyways I think dwarves, elves, etc having an alternate phrase to "in another life" would be cool
Kess's writing commissions!
Hi! My name is Kess/Kestra, I'm an amateur writer. I've been running the homestuck/classpect blog creative-classpect for a super long time and doing commissions for quite a while now. My latest project, the dnd Vessel class, just hit over 33k words. So I kind of thought it was time to actually formulate how I take commissions
What I offer
- Essays, critiques, reviews, and analysis. I've written a significant chunk for the K6BD fan wikipedia for fun and have literally dozens upon dozens of in depth classpect/sburb session posts. Organizing information is my jam
- Short original fiction! Narration, prose, dialogue, etc. I've written all sorts of drabbles and flash fiction in all sorts of genres. I'm comfortable with writing romance, fluff, angst, violence, and bodyhorror
- I've been gming dnd 5th edition for over 8 years and ran campaigns for Monster of the Week and Lancer. I'm very familiar with game design: creating mechanics, custom items, quests, npcs, etc.
What I don't offer
- Hate speech, obviously
- Smut, I'm just not experienced with writing any lol
Pricing, USD via Ko-fi or paypal
Prices are not perfectly set in stone but my usual rate is .02 cents per word, so $2 for 100 words. Ko-fi and paypal take a cut so I had to slightly increase my pay to even really be worth it. My current commission options are:
$5, Micro writing: 250 - 500 words
$10, Short writing: 500 - 1,000 words
$15, Longer writing: 1,000 - 1,500 words
Prices are not exactly set in stone! I'm open to talking about longer content, shorter content, etc. If you ever have any questions or requests feel free to DM me here or on ko-fi!
Homestuck specific offerings
While obviously you can commission me to write whatever, I do have 2 homestuck specific commission options
$16, Land analysis: Typically around 800 words with room for additions, such as minibosses or the denizen's lair
Examples: https://creative-classpect.tumblr.com/tagged/Land%20Analysis
$20, classpect power analysis: Typically around 1,000 words. While I do have almost every classpect written out, some are still missing and some of my older work could use another pass. Writing something more specific and tailored to your oc is well within my wheelhouse
If you can't commission me, I would always greatly appreciate a donation! If you can't contribute, reblogging and sharing are always greatly appreciated!
