I was just looking for some fun in paradise but instead I was faced with the challenge of a lifetime. My name is Skylar Porter I’m Twenty years old and this is my story. I've been here so very long And every word is calculated Never questioned or debated All these practiced poses I could wreck it I had to But I'm the wreck so what would that do? My masterpiece will fall apart It was over before the start

That’s true, and mine are just horrifically mundane.

Not at all, I wouldn’t dare. Get me back? Oh no, I should be expecting something diabolical, shouldn’t I? Oh, so now you think I’m tasty, hm? [laughs] Good to know, I’ll remember that. But I don’t know I think both of us running away would work better. It hurts my feelings knowing that you’d allow it to eat me though. A for effort is good enough for me. Well, obviously it’s the best method. Hey, it might benefit you more. I mean, you’d get to cuddle me and that’s really a gift. That’s dependant on whether I’m okay with you changing my life for good and whether it has a positive outcome or a negative one. Such a tough decision. I am the master of playing cards right, no lie. I can’t imagine them comparing to pillows at all. But obviously coconuts over humans every time. Hm, I’d like to think I’m a nice guy but it’s not necessarily you making a fool of yourself that I like about the conversation… But the little ways you struggle to start your sentence and have to clear your throat and look at the ground. It’s all very entertaining in a way that’s more adorable than fool-like.

I never said that. Those were your words not mine, I won't argue with you though. 

Oh really? I find that hard to believe. You won't even know what hit you all of a sudden you will just know that it was me getting you back. Uh no...what? [Laughs lightly] Someone needs to distract the animal though and I just happen to think that someone is you, you would be my hero and all. I'm sorry... what do you expect me to do though? There is no point on both of us getting eaten. Well good because that is what you got. Is it really? You have to be the first guy that says that. You would think that I'm not so sure though.  Can't help you there because it really depends on the person whether they embrace the change and make it a positive or negative one. If you have to think about it you can't handle it though. Another thing that only time will tell. [Laughs] Exactly they can't compare to pillows but they are better than humans for many reasons like they don't snore or hog all the blankets not that we have any of those here. It's not? Oh... I uh [Clears her throat] Damn it. I mean thank you...?

[looks down at her before breaking into laughter] That is the perfect idea! I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. 

Oh, but you should have seen your face though. Well we definitely have a solution for us both now. But wait— what if none of us see the hungry animal? Damn, I thought that plan of getting your darkest secrets out was foolproof. I won’t, I’m really quite hurt. Well see, I thought you would have done that first but after thinking about it in more depth I realised that clearly you’re the kind of girl that likes to make a guy think to get the true meaning behind her words, so obviously I finally got to the cuddling part. Hm, you do tempt me. Life is already so much different, what’s a little more? Ooh, would you? I really need that cuddling partner. I’m beginning to feel very lonely and a coconut to cuddle sounds real great. Ah, but I’m quite happy with this conversation so why change it?

Right? Oh easy, I’m the one with the perfect ideas here.

  Now you’re making fun of me? That’s hurtful but it also gives me a reason to get you back for that little prank. We do, we do. Then we might get eaten together or you could have the animal eat you first and give me a chance to run after all you probably taste better than I do. Apparently it wasn’t. I will give you an A for effort though.  I would offer to make it up to you but I rather not.  Oh so now you think more in depth in to what I say? I am surprised. Guys usually just hear what benefits them though I suppose the conclusion you came up with does benefit you. Yeah obviously that was what I meant. [Playfully rolls her eyes] Of course you are tempted but would you go through with it? This would be more than a little change though. I would but like I said you have to play your cards right. Coconuts are the best cuddle buddies well at least here on the island at home I preferred my pillow. Because you really are a nice guy and you don’t want me to make a fool of myself? No? Yeah I thought it was worth a shot.

Oh really? Well I hope that’s true, maybe you can think up an idea for our current predicament? Hm, that’s a really good idea. So does this mean I have to warn you about the cat-like animal behind you that seems to be looking at you as if you’re food? Well, how about you tell me a deep dark secret and then if I tell someone you know I’m not trustworthy. [laughs] Just kidding, I have no way to provide you with proof. Ouch, that really hurts, Sky. Are you sure? Are you sure you just don’t really want to cuddle me? Oh is that right? Hm, I’m not so sure I can believe that without testing it first. Is Coco cuddly? Does he have a friend I can cuddle? I don’t think it has see.

It is true so there is no need for hoping. Oh I have an amazing idea for that. [Takes a step closer to him and looks around before whispering] we just need to find a boat and voila we get out of here. [Her eyes widen and she turns to look behind her] 

That’s not funny. But yes if there was really an animal out to eat me I would appreciate it if you told me. Haha yeah not happening. I guess we will just have to let time work its magic and prove that you can be. [Smiles smugly before laughing] You’ll get over it. If I wanted to cuddle with you I would just say “Mason I want to cuddle” okay not really.  You can test it but like I said once you do your life will never be the same.  Coco is very cuddly and he might, play your cards right and I might ask him to find you a cuddling partner. Well it would work If you just let it.

I pride myself in it. Well then it is what we will do.

That sounds like a great deal actually, I can’t say no to that; looking out for each other. I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t, but I’m a trustworthy guy. [chuckles] Sounds about right, great combination. Oh, Sky, is this you proposing that you would like to cuddle with me? [winks before laughing] You know that’s never been a great conversation changer, right?

Sounds like a great plan to me.

Of course it is, I came up with it and I have nothing but great ideas. It might even work for other things for example if I see an animal coming towards you ready to devour you I can give you a heads up. Are you really? I need proof of this. I’ve seen better combinations but I guess it suits you. [Laughs lightly] I—no this is me being horrible at making you not think you are not… cuddly? Besides once you cuddle with me you could never go back. I already have a cuddle partner though, his name is coco and yes he is a coconut. I don’t know it seems to have done the trick.

Exactly, better than not. Turning a negative into a positive.

Then we better make sure you don’t get that title. Really? No, not at all. I’m definitely okay with that. It does. Then I’m definitely not a monkey, all rugged and non-cuddly. [laughs]

You are a quick learner Mr. Asher. That is exactly what we should all do.

Yes we better do that. I’ll make you a deal if you ever start acting like a party pooper I will help you so that you don’t become one and vice versa, how does that sound? I’m debating whether to trust that it was just a little or not. Good then it’s settled you are a sarcastic charmer. You don’t seem rugged well not in the sense you mean it I mean obviously you are boyish rugged and you seemc uddly I mean um most people seem cuddly.  Yeah so [clears her throat] the weather has been lovely here.

No, it’s really not the best of titles. Yeah, just a little though. Both, we can go with that. Well I would like to hope so, the majority of them looked like monkey’s from what I see in cartoons.

I suppose I can, I mean we might as well make the most of it, right? 

I would think not, I would hate to have that title. I think it is more than a little actually. I can go with you being charming and sarcastic it beats just being sarcastic. And you sir look nothing like a monkey though monkeys are adorable and cuddly.

It was very easy and of course — okay then. Seems like a decent reason to not worry, when they realise the boat hasn’t docked we’ll have people looking for us.

Well then I will work on that. Okay, maybe I was being a little sarcastic. That’s cool, you’re doing pretty decent. [chuckles, winking at her] Ouch, ouch that hurts, Sky. Right, right, if you say so.

Good. I just wanted to really enjoy my holiday.So much for that, huh? Yeah... we will. 

You should because no one wants to be known as the party pooper. A little? You think? So I see that you are fluent in sarcasm or is it charm? Hmm might be both. I was kidding you are much better looking than a caveman. [Laughs]

Okay, apology accepted and we can move on then. Deal. Well then it will take a while for them to start worrying about your lack of being around.

Not at all, I really would hate to be the party pooper in this epic party. You don’t know how to take a compliment very well, do you? It’s depressing because while we’re looking horrifically like cavemen and you’re just really not.

Thank you. See that was easy and now all is forgotten and yeah I'll just drop it. Yeah they might not start to worry until I was due to return. 

Good so then don't be the party pooper and I won't have to call you that. Epic? Now you are just being sarcastic. I uh I do-- Okay maybe not so much. [Smiles and looks down at the ground] Like cavemen? You look nothing like a cavemen, cavemen were cute. [Chuckles and shakes her head ] kidding,  kidding youalso look quite nice... uh everyone here does.

You don’t even know anything about well, anything so it’s okay. Don’t be, there’s no need. Oh, well that’s horrible. I’m sure they would notice though, and worry.

There’s a point, I guess I have to be all positive now. I don’t know, even considering we have been ploughing through the days without our usual resources, I’m pretty sure you’re still as beautiful as you were on the boat. Which is quite depressing for the rest of us actually. [chuckles]

I know but still... I just feel the need to apologize okay so be a nice guy accept my apology and let's move on, deal? I guess eventually they wil in their defense I did tell them not to be bothering me when I left so they probably think I'm having the time of my life in paradise. 

You do because being a downer is never fun and you don't want to be known as the party pooper, do you? I-- yeah I don't see how that is depressing for the rest of you. [Smiles]

It’s not uncomfortable, it’s just not necessarily a nice thing to think about, but it’s not like I haven’t been thinking about it before now anyway. So, I’m sure. Really? How busy can they be?

I’d imagine it does, being negative about everything definitely isn’t a good thing. [chuckles] Maybe, on occasion. You don’t need to thank me for honesty.

That may be the case but I still shouldn't have brought it up. Okay good. I'm still sorry. Um well my dad is busy with his new family and my mom well she uh she has a lot going on and I have no siblings. 

Nope and it also takes up a lot of energy, energy that we shouldn't waste. I think you need to get your eyes checked or maybe being in the island has started getting to you.

Of course I do. It’s fine, really. I mean, it’s nothing new. Are you sure they won’t be worrying? 

I guess, takes a lot of practice though. Nope, you definitely have that covered.

You sure? I didn't mean to make this uncomfortable. I'm sure that they haven't noticed that the boat I was in crashed. They have pretty busy lives. 

It does bu it beats being negative about everything, trust me I would know. So you're a charmer? [Laughs lightly] Uh thank you...?

I can’t argue with the logic, I agree wholly. I uh— No, I don’t get to see my family a lot anyway. My sisters might wonder why I haven’t gone to see them in a while… 

Yeah, it could be. Well, it’s the kind of attitude you get used to, maybe? I mean optimism is great and all. Obviously. Like I said, I’m not wholly negative. I can do optimism sometimes, maybe it just takes a push from a pretty young woman.

Good, i'm glad you agree. Oh... I um I'm sorry I didn't... I shouldn't have asked and we can just drop the subject. Just um well my family is probably not even worried at least not yet. 

Maybe but you can also change that and be different. Oh should I go find you a pretty young woman then?

Knowing it’s been awhile is depressing in itself, knowing the actual day would be much worse. I have not, though it’s not always snowed either. I guess it does count for something. I’m not that negative. This island isn’t so bad. I mean, I wouldn’t be doing too much back home either so I guess it’s better than nothing.

Tell me about it, that was the whole reason I stopped counting it just makes everything easier when you don't know. Do you think your family is counting the days you are gone? So see this could be a good thing for you. Really? Because so far you are being very negative. Oh dear there was optimism in your words, I can't believe it.

Fair point. I gave up counting a while back because I was being hopeful others were. Yeah, I’d imagine it was around there somewhere. Well, no snow here by the looks of the bright blue sky. We don’t have an awful lot at the moment. There’s a point, still a pretty pessimistic point, but I’m not one to judge.

I doubt that there are many still counting, I gave up because after seeing how many days we had been here with no sighting of boats it was beginning to get fairly depressing. I've had Christmas in islands before of course I was younger but still the lack of snow is no big deal. We don't but we have a few things and we have our health, that has to count for something, right? You are just Mr. Negative, aren't you?

And here thinking that way will keep you alive. You at least have your siblings here though most of us don't have that luxury not that I have siblings but still you get my point.

I think we’re supposed to be optimistic of getting back before then, though I’m not even sure of the date so that seems far fetched. But you’re right, Christmas for me hasn’t been the same either. How do you propose we do that?

I can be optimistic but I'm not delusional. [Laughs] I have no idea either I stopped counting days a few moons ago. I think Thanksgiving is close though. So maybe having the holidays here won't be so bad? Uh... I don't know, make the most of what we have? Give thanks for being alive?
