Popular chat platform Discord plans to roll out age checks globally starting in or after June 2026, opting people into teens settings by def
Discord is supposedly saying this is going to affect "only 10% of users", but I really don't believe them at all. It's always going to be way worse and affect more people than what they claim.
So in case anyone needs it:
After Discord announced plans to require age verification for all users, a free, HTML-based tool emerged that aims to bypass facial scans on

Word crimes I have personally witnessed
Since my early days on the internet, I have kept a file where where I record phrases that people have said on the internet that have really razed my hackles.
“Thanks for your inciteful comments”
Are you thanking me for starting a flame war?
“Right of passage”
This is what you have when you’re a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
“Free reign”
Sometimes the monarch offers you a 100% discount.
“Slight of hand”
They’re very dainty hands.
“Doesn’t phase me”
Some people might be turned incorporeal in situations like this, but not me.
“Sight your sources”
They’re beautiful sources. Gaze upon them and appreciate their splendor.
“This peaked my interest”
Now that my interest is at the summit, it can only go down.
“Rein supreme”
The horse is in charge now.
“For all intensive purposes”
These purposes are quite vigorous
“Deep seeded”
I’m sowing six feet deep.
“Wet your appetite”
I’m very well-hydrated before dinner.
“Mute point”
I’m going to articulate this entirely using gestures.
“I’m honing in on your location”
You probably went through a lot of whetstones on the way here.
“Baited breath”
The opposite of bad breath: it’s such a pleasant odor that few can resist its allure.
“For piece of mind”
Young Frankenstein’s assistant should have been willing to pay for this instead of stealing a brain from the university laboratory.
“Sneak peak”
Sometimes those summits can really catch you off guard.
“Tow the line”
I assume this is what tugboat operators do.
“Reek havoc”
Sometimes a stench is terrible enough to cause chaos.
“per say”
You owe me performance royalties for using that phrase. I charge $50 per say.
“Cease the day”
This happens earlier in the winter, especially after Daylight Saving Time ends in November.
“One foul swoop”
Not to be confused with a fowl swoop, this one is probably up to no good.
“Tongue and cheek”
A match made in heaven.
“Cold slaw”
You should keep your shredded cabbage in the fridge after adding the mayo.
“Here, here!”
I’m paying close attention to the location of the applause.
“Safety deposit box”
Where we keep our OSHA-compliant gear.
“I don’t want to take this for granite.”
Of course not, it’s clearly bismuth.
“Tenants of the faith”
I’m pretty sure it’s a violation of city code for a non-residential church building to charge rent.
“Coming down the pipe”
You don’t want to know what’s in the plumbing.
“Pallet cleanser”
The forklift operator is expected to use this to keep things sanitary.
“Extract revenge”
I’m going to attack my nemesis using this syringe.
“Statue of limitations”
Carved marble can last a very long time before expiring.
“Case and point”
I’ll case the joint, then gesture with my finger to draw your attention to anything suspicious.
“Chalk-full”
Rock climbers carry bags that are like this.
“I’m going to pour over the data”
Please don’t spill your coffee on spreadsheets.
“That’s just an old wise tale”
You shouldn’t be so dismissive of elderly wisdom!
“Jerry-rigged”
Old Jeremiah is always up to funny business.
“Don't give me short shift”
If you're getting paid by the hour, you don't want your employer to send you home early.
“This peeked my interests”
That sounds like an invasion of privacy.
for anyone curious the correct forms are:
Insightful comments (full of insight)
Rite of passage (a rite is a ceremony)
Free rein (rein like a horse, although I have heard an argument for "reign")
Sleight of hand (sleight meaning deception)
Doesn't faze me (faze meaning bother)
Cite your sources (cite meaning quote)
Piqued my interest (piqued meaning stimulated, but also irritated)
Reign supreme (reign like a monarch)
All intents and purposes (self-explanatory)
Deep-seated (something integral)
Whet your appetite (whet meaning hone or sharpen)
Moot point (moot meaning irrelevant)
I'm homing in (like a homing missile)
Bated breath (bated meaning restrained, like abated)
Peace of mind (common homophone mix-up)
Sneak peek (common homophone mix-up)
Toe the line (to follow the rules, from military formations where they line up by putting their toes on a line)
Wreak havoc (wreak meaning to cause)
Per se (a Latin term meaning "as such" )
Seize the day (self-explanatory)
One fell swoop (fell meaning evil)
Tongue-in-cheek (like when you're trying not to laugh)
Cole slaw (ask the Germans)
Hear hear (meaning "I/we agree" )
Safe deposit box (because the deposit is safe)
Take this for granted (self-explanatory)
Tenets of the faith (tenet meaning a core belief)
Not sure what "coming down the pipe" is referring to
Palate cleanser (the palate is the roof of your mouth)
Exact revenge (exact meaning to call for something urgently)
Statute of limitations (a statute is a kind of law)
Case-in-point (meaning "this is what I'm talking about", as in this point makes my case)
Chock-full (completely full, etymology is possibly from "choke")
Pore over the data (pore meaning to look carefully)
Old-wives tale (an urban legend)
Jury-rigged (haphazardly put together. it's some naval term idfk)
Short shrift (to give little consideration. shrift is a confession)
A few corrections;
"fell" as in "one fell swoop" means ruthless and decisive, not evil.
"Coming down the PIKE"
"honing in" is not the original phrase, but is grammatically correct and has almost precisely the same meaning, if more versatile.
"Exact" as in "exact revenge" means something like demand, enforce, or *enact,* not "to call for." When one "exacts revenge" they are doing something, not asking for it to be done.

On this day one year ago, I was fired from Crumbl Cookies because my grandfather suddenly died and I cried when I found out and was on the clock. They make you sign a waiver to not talk about the recipes that lasts one year after your termination. Well guess what babes. That day, is today. RIP Nanu, you’ve been missed. But for anyone who likes the Chocolate Chip Cookies or the Iced Sugar Cookies, check out the recipes in the links. Feel free to ask about other recipes, it’s been a year but some things are just reskinned versions of these lol. Good Luck and Happy Baking.
Edit: Here is a Master List of all the recipes I have been able to remember thus far; I will be updating it as I am able!
Here are 543 images (1.5GB) of items at the Philadelphia Museum of Art arms and armor exhibit You're free to use them for anything, even c
casual reminder that this museum has their entire collection digitized and available free for public use: https://art.thewalters.org/ and they have armor/weapons there
Do any of u have decent recipes that are like 5 ingredients (not including spices) and take 45 mins or less to prepare i gotta stop eating sandwiches for dinner
yeah hang on
ignore the title of this google doc because it's a long story but it's a really solid recipe for southwest chicken alfredo
this is a vegetarian potato curry recipe that's about 75% spices; once you get the potatoes in there you can really do whatever you want with it
this is literally just pasta, broccoli, and cheese babey and you can live off that shit for DAYS it makes such a big portion
bro this spinach/pesto/3 cheese flatbread is so fucking tasty bro
also you can make the flatbread yourself it's super quick!!
oh hey I'm eating this white chickpea chili right now, much like the curry it's mostly spices and you can do p much do whatever you want with it
don't let the name fool you these potatoes are delicious any time. not just breakfast.
this is slightly more than five ingredient when you add them together but if you have time and really wanna fuckin treat yourself I recommend these chicken strips + this cornbread + either these potatoes or these buttered veggies on the side.
These are my two favorite comfort foods. They're very easy to make and dont take long to cook.
Garlic butter rice
Orzo mac and cheese (comes out a little bit soupy)
this recipe for gogumabap (sweet potato and rice) saved my life when i couldn't eat hardly anything for a long time. the recipe itself calls for a heavy bottomed pot but you can absolutely use a rice cooker and put the rice and diced sweet potato in together and just let the machine do its thing
If you have a crockpot, I do a really good pulled pork carnitas that is:
Pork - any cut boneless
Onions- chopped anyway you like
Orange juice - about one cup (you can use about 2 tablespoons of the condensed frozen stuff if you have it)
Root beer, pepsi, or other cola soda - about one cup
Preferred chili mix seasoning - 1-2 packets depending on how intense you like your flavoring and how much pork you put in
Garlic - as much as you wanna, specifically smashed not cut
Canned or frozen corn - to your preference
Dump all that into your crockpot in the morning (or the night before) and let it run on low until dinner. Cook some rice if you feel like it, or just serve over tortillas.
bro WTF, I wanna try this just for the sheer shit of it
Can we include darebee.com with ao3 and wikipedia on our list of really good nonprofits with excellent services that we stan?
It's a free, no sign-up, no ads fitness resource created by professionals who view this as activism (fitness should be accessible to everyone), and it's very thoughtful and thorough.
Features I really like:
- all instructions for workout routines are diagrammed on single pages with a clean, easy to read layout
- there's 30 or 60 day programs you can follow if you, like me, don't know what to do. they take you through a rotation of workouts so you're working different muscle groups on different day for a specific purpose
- there's so much variety and there's a filter so you can find the level and your goals and type of workout you wanna do
- you don't need any equipment
- some of the programs are RPGs or adventure stories! How's that for motivation. There's also badges and achievements or something but I haven't looked that closely at how that works yet
- they're nerds. they name workouts after D&D classes. There's a Lannistrr workout, a batcave workout, a witcher workout
- I've only scratched the surface
I'm doing this really easy one to start out

to anyone in the areas impacted by the wildfire smoke, my #1 biggest piece of advice as someone whos been dealing with wildfire smoke in the NW united states for years, is build yourself a Corsi-Rosenthal Cube
they perform as well as expensive HEPA air cleaners, and are comparatively VERY inexpensive. all you need is a box fan, 4 air filters, a piece of cardboard, and some duct tape!!!!
i think it took us maybe a half hour to put ours together, if that, and we replace the filters every 3 months. it's really made a HUGE difference, both when the air quality is bad, but also with our allergies
Saw these easy to read instructions on Twitter. Stay safe 💚
Great time to start pricing this out by the way, fire season starts… on the summer solstice this year, that’s fun. Signs point to it being a doozy.
Hi guys! I thought I should just share my whole mini little library of Project Hail Mary-related things so they're all in one place:
It includes:
A digital copy of the movie (with subtitles in 30+ languages via download)
My transcript of the movie (more on that here)
Audio recordings of the movie
A PDF of the book
An EPUB of the book (for e-readers)
The full audiobook
A copy of Andy Weir's doc on Eridians
A copy of Andy Weir's spreadsheet on Astrophage physics (among many other things!)
A draft of the screenplay for the film from 2022
An audio recording of the director's commentary
My transcript of the director's commentary
There is also a UHD copy (that's too big to fit in the drive) here!:
Securely store, share, and access your important files and photos. Anytime, anywhere.
Please note that because of the way that google drive works, some of the subtitles only work if you download the file yourself.
The audiobook, audio recordings, and commentary all have their properties programmed so they (should) work just like songs with a track number, album cover, artist, and so on if you download them.
There are two audios of the movie, one is the entire film untouched and one is that same audio cut up and broken down into separate scenes for convenience.
Additionally, there are two versions of the movie transcript, one with time stamps that match the audio recording and one without. The time stamps (+ their titles from the audio) are outlined in that version, so if you double-click on that tab or click "show outline," they'll all show up and you can pick a specific scene.
Similiarly, there are two different versions of the director's commentary transcript. The first is made to listen along to the commentary, while the second is more intended to be read on its own. The first is a direct transcription of everything that's said (an attempt, at least), while the second is slightly cleaned up for easier reading, meaning things like jumbled sentences and stuttering were removed or reorganised, but nothing has been actually paraphrased. Both are broken down into different scenes based on how their conversation goes, and the listening version includes timestamps.
The first few seconds of the commentary are missing unfortunately as my US friend who was kind enough to record it for me had some technical difficulties at the start, but the she paraphrased the part that was missed. The commentary starts at that first red shot of Ryland Grace's face in the coma suit 32 seconds into the digital copy.
There's also a google doc with some instructions to follow if any of the files aren't working, which usually happens when too many people try to access or download something at the same time.
As always, if anything's not working right or you notice any mistakes in anything, please let me know and I'll fix it as soon as I can!

Important rules for the "age verification" era of the internet that we're living in:
1. Do not do age verification.
2. If you have to do age verification, cheat. Do not under any circumstances give them your real ID.
The tool presents users with a 3D model they can then manipulate to, the creator says, bypass Discord's age verification system.
Oh no I dropped my link, what a horrible thing! Sure hope this doesn't get reblogged until it reaches users from the UK and Brazil!
And remember to not make a second account just to test out what works best when verifying your identity
