✨ Mopping Up Your Fuck-Up: On Reversing a Spell 🔮
Yesterday, I posted about how my full moon wish / prosperity spell didn't quite turn out how I wanted.
Today, I did something I haven't needed to do in my 4 years of being a witch: reverse a spell.
Before I get into it, I wanna encourage all witches to learn how to reverse a spell BEFORE you need that knowledge. I was fortunate that I already had some information on how to do this, so I didn't need to do too much research before casting. It also helps that my spell wasn't exactly earth-shattering, but you for sure want to know how to undo / reverse a spell in case you DO cast a spell that makes you quickly say "oh shit oh shit oh shit what have I done."
Think of it as a way to prevent yourself from having to search "how to put out a fire safely" in the middle of your kitchen being on fire.
Anyway, today ended up being another shitty day in the realms of work and finances. Because I had a nagging feeling that my spell was to blame, I decided to reverse it and try again another time.
As a refresher on spell reversals, I watched this video:
This video goes over some of the different ways you can reverse a spell depending on what you have and how the original spell was casted. I recommend it!
Without further ado, here's what I did to reverse my spell:
Step 1: I casted a circle.
This isn't required for spell reversals, but I felt like the spell was fucked up enough and didn't want baneful energies fucking with me further, so I wanted that buffer.
Step 2: Centered myself & spoke aloud my remorse.
I said in my previous post that I felt like I pissed off the moon. While the jury is still out on whether or not that's the case, I thought, "Well, it couldn't hurt to say sorry."
So, I spoke aloud to the universe and the moon my remorse and regret on how I conducted my spell, stated my intent of undoing my working, and let the feeling of remorse fill me up just enough that I felt ready to start disassembling with gusto (but not so much that I would have been too emotional to continue).
Step 3: I lit a black candle and disassembled the spell.
I used a black candle to help with banishing / neutralizing the unwanted effects of the spell.
To disassemble my spell, I opened my spell petition away from me, and I ripped it up. I put the previous night's candle, bay leaf remains, and used cloves in a sealed bag. I cleansed my cauldron with the smoke from the black candle.
I used to watch this show called Star Vs. The Forces of Evil, & while I was brainstorming how I should conduct my spell reversal, something that immediately popped into my brain was [spoilers if you haven't seen the show] the Whispering Spell chant used when Star ends all magic in the series finale. I thought it would be PERFECT for this spell.
The words are:
"Break the bond
Tear the fabric
Cleave the stone
Stop the magic"
Scene here for those interested:
Not gonna lie, chanting that while disassembling my spell felt SO good. It kept my intention pointed.
Step 4: Once extinguished, I snapped the candle in half and disposed of everything.
I sealed the bag of disassembled spell components and tossed it in the dumpster outside.
Once I came back in, I washed my hands and then used a cleansing spray all around the apartment (for good measure, plus it had been a while since I cleansed).
I also cleansed my space and then lit a rosemary herb bundle to add back some good magic into the space. I haven't redone my wards in a while and my space felt stale energy-wise, so that checked two boxes at once.
On another cleansing note, I'm going to cleanse my body in the shower & put some vanilla lotion on while meditating on self-love.
Having to reverse a spell, even if it's the right choice you made for yourself, can be hard. I know I personally am feeling a little stung by the fact that I had to reverse a prosperity spell, of all things. We witches can be hard on ourselves, but this is why it's called a practice! that's why I'm taking some extra time to tend to myself 🩵
✨ Initial Thoughts ✨
So far, I already feel lighter, like a fog has been lifted. I still feel like crying at the drop of a hat, but that's definitely due to mundane reasons (read: hormones), so not giving that too much weight. I'm hoping the shower cleanse will help with that.
I'll update this post as the week goes on and will let you all know if the spell, uh...rather, I guess lack of a spell, works out!
🎐 Chime in! 🎐
