It probably is kind of fun to be a parent bird and find big fat bugs to put in your child’s goalpost mouth. And the more you do it the larger your baby gets, which shows your progress. Pandea rubra, also known as the red paper lantern jelly, may have a bell measuring just eight centimeters (about three inches) across, but its graceful tentacles can stretch much farther, trailing behind as it drifts through the water.⁠ ⁠ These delicate jellies are found in oceans around the world, from the surface to depths of 3,300 meters (10,000 feet), where they feed on tiny krill and copepods. Their transparent dome and flowing tentacles are a reminder that some of the ocean's most remarkable animals are also among its smallest.

Something about the bastardization of the story time and time again proves that nobody in power really cares about the people who would resonate with King’s Carrie White. A girl so ugly and repulsive she’s been removed from her own story. The societal need for women and girls to be constantly perceived as attractive is what fuels a fair amount of her torment in the book, but that person isn’t even allowed to exist on the screen. We cannot empathize with her; it isn’t allowed. It’s fascinating to me.
