Babylon 5 - S03E05, “Voices of Authority”
Been working on a multifandom project for a while now. Still have a long way to go before it’s finished, but I wanted to share a small piece from the beginning.
Can you identify all the fandoms just from the symbols in these few frames? 👀
(Hint: the answers are in the tags in the order they appear)
Me, trying to guide a mindfulness meditation at work today:
“Breathe in, bringing that sense of calm with you…”
Also me: this would work better if I sounded like Delenn.
- Delenn, I cannot allow this! - I understand the risks, captain.
Babylon 5 - S02E18, “Confessions and Lamentations”
Babylon 5 rewatch: A Distant Star
My “ship wall” — signed photos of the screen couples that have lived rent-free in my heart for years: Odo/Kira, John/Aeryn, Adama/Roslin, Janeway/Chakotay… and now, finally, Sheridan/Delenn at the top. Clearly I have a type: slow burns, devotion, equals, love stories forged through war, sacrifice, and friendship. After watching Babylon 5, I realized this wall was incomplete. Sheridan and Delenn weren’t just a new addition—they were the blueprint, the couple that likely gave rise to so many of the others I love. The only signature missing is Mira Furlan’s. I won’t get that one in this life, so I’ll hope to meet her someday in the place where no shadows fall. ❤️
Going to a B5 convention today. I guess I’m going in the right direction….
Babylon 5 - Revelations + Romeo and Juliet
If you lived on Babylon 5, what would be your ideal job?
I’d absolutely apply to be Delenn’s attaché. I’m confident I could outperform Lennier with the very simple strategy of not attempting to assassinate her husband. Low bar, but I’d clear it. Also, we’d obviously become best friends. I can help style her hair, carry ceremonial fruit, and hype her up before big council moments.
Her little skip at the end is everything. I love them so much!
the important thing about attachés in Babylon 5 is that they serve as labradors to their respective ambassadors’ anxious cheetahs
My first ever Sheridan/Delenn fan edit. Enjoy!
@burneddownthegym You might like this one...as you mentioned they are obsessed with holding hands....
Thought I would return the favour of sending in an ask! <3
What is your favourite Delenn moment? If that's too specific, you can absolutely have a shortlist, or even talk about specific episodes instead!
Great question! She had so many incredible moments, but my favorite has to be when she dissolves the Grey Council in Severed Dreams and comes to Sheridan’s aid:
“Only one human has ever survived battle with a Minbari fleet. He is behind me. You are in front of me. If you value your lives… be somewhere else.”
Such an amazing moment.
I tend to gravitate toward strong female leads like Kira from DS9, Roslin from BSG, Aeryn from Farscape and Janeway from Voyager, but Delenn might be the best-written female lead I’ve ever encountered. I loved that she never judged people, showed seemingly limitless compassion, could absolutely kick ass when necessary, and—most importantly—never lost her agency. As she once told John, “Never forget who I was, what I am, and what I can do.”
I also really liked that she was never conflicted about her feelings for John. She was very open about how she felt and wasn’t afraid to pursue him. That’s very different from most of the other female leads I mentioned, where it was usually the man doing the pursuing. Delenn knew what she wanted and went after it, but she never lost herself in the process — and I think that’s one of the reasons she’s such a great character.
Sorry Sisko but “Ivonova is always right. Listen to Ivonova.” 😉
I know a lot of people say these two shows are the same (or that one stole ideas from the other) but to me they feel completely different. They just happen to both take place on space stations and have really complicated people living on them that grow, change and become different people at the end. Exceptional writing and acting will accomplish that.
