becoming an adult is essentially having all your friends in different cities and permanently missing someone

Coming back onto this blog is kinda weird. To see a visual of how I was like just a few years ago is weird and eye opening. I’m a lot different and a little bit more at peace but some negative pieces are still the same and still very much a part of me. This blog really helped me through some hard times.
drink some water you beautiful and capable but dehydrated bitch
Do you have any advice on how to "find yourself"? I've lived majority of my life according to the rules of my parents and friends, and now I just feel like a shell of a person. I know I need to become my own person, but I just dont know how... do you have any tips? You seem to have really made your life something extraordinary.
Personal development and self awareness comes with experience and knowing yourself, which is something that everyone undergoes throughout their lives. Self improvement a continuous journey because people are constantly changing. Think about who you were a year ago and think of how you’ve changed within that time. We are all products of our environment, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t our own individual people, including yourself. Don’t be afraid to break free from any societal contraints, rules, or expectations that keep you from being yourself. I know it may seem confusing if you feel as if you don’t “know yourself”, but knowing yourself is simply knowing what you like or don’t like —this doesn’t necessarily have to be different from what other people do or don’t like, but everyone is unique in their own way and it’s up to you to figure out your passions and interests and pursue them in whatever way you think works best for you. We are products of our environment, meaning we are what we surround ourselves with and what surrounds us. Sometimes we don’t have a choice with the circumstances we are put in, but at a certain point in our lives we reach a point where we have the ability to make these decisions for ourselves.
So even though you feel like your personal development has been stifled by the people surrounding you, you are still special and you are still a unique person. Just as much as these people are allowed to voice their opinions, you are allowed to voice yours. Question everything. Break free from any societal constructs that hold you back from being happy with who you truly are. Feel free to express yourself as long as you aren’t harming yourself or others. Your own self expression, just as much as my own, can serve as a point of inspiration to anyone going through the same thing that you are going through to be able to become themselves as well. We don’t ever really “discover ourselves”, but rather we grow into ourselves more and more as we go through life and experience things that shape us into who we truly are.
when someone asks you how was 2016/life….
I don’t want to look like anyone else.
I want to look like a stronger me.
I want to look like a faster me.
I want to look like a more confident me.
I want to look like the happiest version of myself.
I don’t want another person’s body. I don’t want their hair. I don’t want their smile. I don’t want their boobs, or butt, or anything. I simply want to look like the best version of myself.Â
Note to my ex.
Today my professor told me every cell in our entire body is destroyed and replaced every seven years. How comforting it is to know that one day I will have a body that you will have never touched.
This just made me feel so warm.
thank you.
Important especially for victims of abuse, remember your body is yours and it heals in more ways than you realize.
I reblog this every time I see it because every time, I’m a little more me and a little less you.
