izzy’s   hands   curl   slowly   at   her   sides,   tension   coiling   tight   enough   that   her   manicured   nails   press   half moons   into   her   palms.   a   quiet   kind   of   grounding,   or   maybe   restraint.   hard   to   tell   which.   the   sharp   click   of   her   heels   against   the   hardwood   lands   clean   in   the   space   between   them,   measured   and   precise,   like   she’s   setting   a   rhythm   he   doesn’t   get   to   ignore.   even   the   way   he’s   sitting   there,   all   loose   limbs   and   careless   sprawl,   makes   something   flicker   behind   her   eyes.   hot.   bright.   just   shy   of   reckless.   “poor   baby,”   izzy   coos,   soft   and   syrup   sweet.   voice   laced   with   something   that   turns   sharp   the   longer   it   sat.   a   single   knuckle   pressing   lightly   to   her   cheek,   tracing   an   invisible   tear   with   exaggerated   care.   “i   guess   you   only   like   to   hear   other   people   talking   when   their   ordering   you   around   like   a   bitch.”   her   lip   trembles   in   a   mockery   of   sympathy,   lashes   fluttering   too   dramatic   to   be   anything   but   deliberate.   “tell   me,”   she   continues,   voice   lilting   upward   like   she’s   asking   something   genuinely   curious,   “does   it   sting?   knowing   the   people   you’re   so   loyal   to   couldn’t   pick   you   out   of   a   lineup?”   izzy   leans   in   as   she   asks,   the   space   between   them   collapsing   until   it’s   filled   with   the   soft,   expensive   scent   clinging   to   her   skin.   something   floral,   likely   stolen,   with   a   bite   to   it.   her   voice   drops.   quieter   now,   almost   conspiratorial,   “or   maybe   you   like   it   down   there,”   she   murmurs,   the   words   brushing   his   ear.   “nice   and   safe   at   the   bottom, right?   no   expectations.”

she's all syrupy sweet in tone , yet her words are vicious . the prettiest flower often has the strongest poison . the remark curls vividly in the front of his mind as he watches her . dark eyes tracking every move she make .
