Lily knew being on social media was nearly a requirement when being in the wrestling business. Even if it was to talk about matches, storylines, past things, the company was all for the fans connecting with the shows. It was how they got their money. Keep the fans interested, they come to shows, superstars get paid. She did miss it when the world wasnât so ruled by technology and having to detail each little moment in a life. She had photos stashed from her life, but she didnât want to share private memories with thousands of people.Â
Smiling softly, she noticed how he had looked away quickly before she glanced up to him. Maybe this would be a breaking the ice point? Get him to talk about something he loved? âWhat kind of cake is your favorite?â she asked, looking around and noting the different superstars and backstage hands working and talking. She did like the environment backstage when it wasnât chaotic. Just people getting to know each other and share stories.Â
Her lips turned to an O as he explained, using the utensils to pick up shredded chicken and some barbeque sauce. âWell, I started out doing some commercials and hosting an low scale wrestling talk show, and eventually decided to try out for the WWE. They had me on NXT for a while and now I made my way up here to do backstage interviews and Talking Smack. You know, the glamorous life of a Canadian,â she said with a small laugh and a shrug. âI donât sleep my way to the top. If thatâs the only way I can make it somewhere, then that job just isnât for me,â she explained, leaning down and picking up a water from the cooler. âWhat about you? What made you want to become the Lunatic Dean Ambrose?â
Derekshould have known that she catch on. He had already pre-decided thatshe clearly wasn't a wrestler, which left backstage personality orsome type of ring announcer. Either way she had attention to detail,it as practically in her job description (even though the voice atthe back of Derek's mind reminded him that he didn't actually knowher job yet, but he shoved it away).Â
Hekept his eyes on the ground longer than was necessary before dragginghis eyes up to the blonde, trying to seem less excited than he was.He couldn't help it. He was a dick sometimes and a grouch likealways, but cake was the answer to his heart â to his core. âI'ma fan of anything chocolate, honestly. But my guilty pleasure iscarrot cake and it's so weird because vegetables don't belong oncake, but that one does.â
Shedidn't react the way he had assumed, but he was still pleased withher giving away some of the deets. He picked at a few cubes ofcheese, tossing a small handful onto his plate as she gathered herchicken. âNice, not a bad way to go.â She wasn't the only onethey had called up from NXT, but she as by far getting one of thebetter gigs in his mind. Backstage interviews were always going to bearound, same for Talking Smack so she wouldn't have to worry abouther opponent getting hurt or something and her being out of a match.
âMorepower to ya,â he commented, sticking a carrot stick into his mouth. It hung out limply like a piece of hay, but he left it there for amoment. He followed her action, grabbing himself a water as well.âNever really dreamed of doin' anything else. Kind of just had theidea for the crazy lunatic guy and the gimmick just kinda took off.âHonestly, Derek wasn't even sure some days. He just knew this was allhe wanted to do with his life.
