I mean trying to influence local politics and voting in local elections may seem silly in this moment but it is how Republicans have gained power and have moved their agenda forward. You've seen all the stories about qanoners taking over school boards. Instead of them that needs to be you.

One of things that has kept me from pure despair is just a few days before the ruling, my local DSA chapter helped get their endorsed candidate elected onto the city council of DC. They knocked on 40,000 doors and our endorsed candidate won by nearly 20% points in a crowded field. A dedicated force of a couple dozen volunteers over the course of a few months got a progressive (and another democratic socialist!!) onto the city council of the nation's capital.

And there's so many different things you can do based on what you're interested in!! If you're like me and aren't great at talking to people there are other things you can do to help out! I'm a designer, me and a couple other members of the comms team put together a primary guide that's going to be handed to other chapters nationally to be used in their own local races. Now that I'm plugged into an org, I personally feel a sense of power and community that I just didn't before. If you have the time and are able, I strongly recommend getting involved in a local org that you're passionate about, or think of running for a local position yourself.

I know rn everyone's angry and wants to do something to un-fuck the situation we're in, and given what OP has said above and what I've personally witnessed and taken part in, we're not as powerless as the other guys want us to think we are.

I am sad

things are going so well i don’t know why i feel like this. i. broke off on of the most meaningful relationships in my life and i have made so many sacrifices and i just really hope by the end of it all it is worth it because i am tired. i am so tired of being strong and doing it all when i really don’t wanna be doing jack fuckin shit.
