Pretty sure this sums up the feelings of every gardener between the Rockies and the Atlantic, right? https://plus.google.com/110488610477608761785/posts/ahdeuhWQWha

So many fantastic reasons to get out in the garden! Why do you garden? http://click-to-read-mo.re/p/9z6j/53110fc7
Back to School Gardening
The students will plant the raised beds over the next few weeks with easy to grow cool season crops like radishes and lettuce. To get the garden growing, Washington Capitals forwards Chris Brown (right with ball cap) and Stanislav Galiev planted one of the raised beds with kid-friendly herbs that are fun to touch, taste and smell like lavender, chocolate mint, German chamomile, rosemary, parsley, lemon thyme, wild watermelon salvia, and chives. Lovely. Just lovely.
My Russian mammoths are finally blooming. 10 feet tall and awesome!!!
Stunningly beautiful!
Over the course of about a month, the cucumber went from a teeny waist-high plant with a single adorable flower to a roof-climbing monster that churns out 2-4 fruit per week. Every few days, I have to dissuade new branches from trying to latch onto the gutter (I keep redirecting them down and sideways, so that we can reach the flowers to pollinate them). I am in awe of its tenacity.
Pictured at the bottom is the first fruit it produced - we’ve since harvested and eaten lots more!
Very nice!
Canned tomatoes were a success, and I am no longer terrified of canning. Now on to bigger projects.
It’s amazing how easy it can be, right?
Salsa verde.
Sigh.
Very nice! Did you use a specific recipe?
Beets … mmm beets and corn are going gang busters. Toms finishing, carrots are, a bit short at the moment. Zucchini’s have flowered at last, should be getting some soon for the spiralizer.
Looking great!
Shallots from my garden, over a hundred of them, and they are sweet and delicious. I’ll eat some. I’ll plant the suvivors after frost. If they live through winter, I will have fresh green onions first thing next spring.
Very very nice! They keep so much nicer than onions, imo. And the flavor is so divine!
I’m finally getting some #tomatoes!!! #garden #gardening. #livingofftheland (at Triforce Manor)
Very nice! Zelda would be so proud!
Salad (cucumbers, celery, purple cabbage, apple, walnuts, corn, spinach and radishes) topped with spiced guacamole and tofu sausage. Sooo filling 💚💚 #vegan #whatveganseat #raw #dinner #rawgust #salad
Yum!
Creature of the Kale
Some of the Fall garden seedlings are starting to emerge. Now, if the weather will only cooperate.
I was discouraged when my 1st plant went down, but I’m glad I didn’t stop there. Thanks to every1 who helped me get started. Jalapeño #1 is getting chopped tonite. #gardening
Yes! Nice!
