“And maybe, just maybe I’ll come home”
There's this writer/blogger from Vienna that I really look up to. She started a hashtag where she writes about her friends that became family. (#loveletterstomybeautifulfriends)
From an early childhood stage on I used to count friends as family because I never had many relatives. That's why I want to do exactly what said blogger does. Write love letters to my friends that are more like family to me.
A year ago I met three wonderful human beings. I had known them for quite some time already but our journey together began about a year ago in March. Nevertheless I feel as though we met before the more and more I really get to know them. Not physically but spiritually. There's this wonderful quote that says "Two souls are sometimes created together and in love before they're even born". The longer I spend on this planet the more I agree. Sometimes you meet someone and you just know. Know that it's not the first time you met them but maybe the second or even third. But why does it have to stop at two souls? Why not four? Sometimes I picture us as soul sisters. I see myself in them and maybe, they reflect themselves in me. What I know for a fact is that they mean the world to me. Take L. for example. Out of the four, I've known her the longest. If I had to describe her I'd tell you that she's the kindest soul I've ever met. L. cares about everything and mostly about the people she holds dear. Before I got to know her, I thought she's kind of shy and keeps to herself. But when there's a topic she's passionate about, you'll literally see the spark and the flame inside her go off. She's fierce, strong, brave and still continues to be kind. She reminds me of those summer nights where the air is filled with laughter, bonfires and the smell of freshly cut grass. At the same time she's like a silent forest, filled with hidden wonders awaiting to be discovered. There's a world of wonder inside her too. Her heart is as big as our mother earth and I feel like she feels the world's feelings. You may see her as a fairy, but she's always prepared to fight for her beliefs and what she feels is right. I aspire to act like her in situations where everyone around you thinks different from your beliefs and you're still yourself and stand up for your beliefs. Therefore I associate her with earth, a greenish yellow (just warm colours in general), sunflowers, stars, still waters (like a lake), warm hugs and laughter, and the strength to keep going and fight for your dreams even when life weighs you down.
I'm nearly one hundred percent sure that R. is not from this world. In a way she was the one to unite us with her joyful and deep spirit. R. is creative, free, wild, independent and the embodiment of spirituality. Sometimes it almost hurts looking at her because her spirit and soul beam through the layers of skin and shine for everybody to see. R. reminds me of the sea or the ocean. At first glance you seem to see everything about her. But when you take a closer look, you realize that you only saw the first layer of what makes her R. Like the deep unknown, unexplored ocean. My associations with R. are summer, flowy dresses with wavy hair, rings (jewellery in general!), sunkissed skin, running water (like a waterfall or the ocean), the sounds of waves crashing ashore, and an elf-like behaviour. She's a spirit of nature and moves everything she touches.
Last but not least, S. She's like a lioness. Powerful and strong, yet kind and loving. She's straightforward and, like L., ready to fight for what's right. I feel like she's not afraid of anything and I really admire that about S. She inspires me to fight my fears on a daily basis and to conquer life like she does: unapologetically herself and with her heart in the right place. S. will take you like a storm takes a village. She's a free soul and lets nothing weigh her down. Did you ever stand on a hill, maybe on a cliff overlooking the sea, or let's say a high building and looked down while wind was blowing through your hair and you felt as if you were close to flying because the wind was so intense? That's her right there. S. makes you feel like you can accomplish everything just with the energy she releases. Maybe that's not the right way to put it - whenever she enters a room I feel alive. Trust me, I've felt numb before and it sucks, but as soon as I see her or talk to her I feel alive or at least not that numb anymore.
On halloween we were at S. house and cooked together (it’s one of our many traditions). It was in the middle of the night after some epic deep-talks about the universe with all its magic, when R. suddenly said: “guys, we are like our own little tribe!” - and we definitely are. I’m blessed to have them in my life and to go through this journey we call life together.Â
