Storm Reading Guide (2000s - 2010s)
X.S.E is the successor to the X-treme X-men led by Storm. However, they're now an international task force dealing with mutant matters. As Storm leads her team across the planet to deal with threats, she has another calling to her homeland she hasnt had since childhood. Seeing the lands Ororo was worshipped on as Goddess of the Storm reminded her of purpose as a protector before she was an X-man. An event known as M Day left 98% of mutants depowered, causing an international power vacuum and mass genocide. This forces Storm to travel across her homeland to put an end to the anti-mutant violence at its source. Her return to Africa opens doors of the past, tackle conflicts in present, and leads to questions for her future.

As mutant-kind is facing extinction and are at the center stage of public opinion, Storm's role as mutant leader, X-man, and hero enters the political arena when she agrees to marry into the royal family of Wakanda. Her responsibilities to mutantkind, division in superhero community, and the rise of international and internal political tensions places Ororo's in a position where her words and actions will impact the world. Her reign as Queen begins with a royal progress across the Marvel Universe to being the face of an international resistance against the authoritarian regime created by fellow superheroes in Civil War.

Storm stands with mutankind in a fight for survival. As enemies seem to be relentlessly plotting against Utopia, the nation and sanctuary for mutants and human kin, the X-men question their methods to make mutants safety and survival certain. The X-men experience an unprecedented ideological and literal split in ranks to pursue their own ways of guiding mutantkind. The Pheonix Force return for Hope Summers pits the X-men against the Avengers, who assumed jurisdiction and authority over Hope, who the X-men believe may be the key to reversing M-day. Meanwhile, Storm and her husband's loyalties are tested in the conflict which continues to escalate into irreversible harm.

The effects of the battle against the Avengers has an irreversible impact on the X-men and mutantkind, especially Storm. Mutantkind is reborn at the cost of lives and morale. Storm's marriage is annulled and she is exiled from a throne she defended, protected, and ruled. The X-men are, again, split in half, this time over the death of Charles Xavier. In this collection, Storm's efforts to heal from the past adversity and protect the future places her back in leadership to resolve and strengthen the bonds with her fellow family: the X-men, she joins X-Force to battle new threats while healing old wounds, and reunites with foes and friends and family alike.
