Now realizing in 2024 I was the only person regularly posting davidboty (on instagram) and in 2025-now I am the only person regularly posting junghun that's so poetic. My criminally underrated best friend yaois.
YOU KNOW WHAT'S FUNNIER.

On consumption being a continuous theme in junghun... (warning for mild talk of disordered eating)
Literally - their habits of gambling (consuming money) drinking, smoking. Jung-bae's little acts of service for Gi-hun, at seemingly any timeframe in their relationship —
That's easy. Ok. Figuratively - the way they act when they're left without each other. Letting their guilt over their losses consume themselves (Jung-bae when Gi-hun went missing, Gi-hun when he exited the 2020 games and didn't have Jung-bae to ground him, THEN when Jung-bae was killed) and spiraling out of control (Jung-bae driving his wife and daughter away due to his fixation on Gi-hun, Gi-hun becoming unhealthily fixated on the games; then in the 2024 games after Jung-bae's demise, delving into violence and eventually strangling Dae-ho with his bare hands)(this can also be thought of as Gi-hun consuming Jung-bae's thoughts, then 1- the games and 2- the need to avenge Jung-bae consuming Gi-hun's thoughts). And THEN coping with that with MORE consumption, or by rearranging already present acts of consumption. Jung-bae getting into mountains of debt without Gi-hun – consuming money, Gi-hun eating much less without Jung-bae – abstaining from consumption, yet also smoking more; replacing that act of consumption with another.
Now back to the scenes of Jung-bae assisting Gi-hun on these acts of consumption, namely the one where Gi-hun refuses being spoonfed. I think this is also a refusal of affection. These acts of consumption, all things they did together, all (albeit suboptimal) bonding activities. And Jung-bae offering food, specifically being something Gi-hun has distanced himself from... he can't fall back into that comfort. The last time he did he twisted it all, and he will again. Unfortunately he's proven right by the narrative when dear Jung-bae is shot in front of his very eyes.
Hell...... the revolt is an act of consumption. Consuming ammo. Consuming energy. Consuming lives. AND THEY DO IT ALL TOGETHER AS WELL... Gi-hun picks Jung-bae to go on the double patrol with him. One last act of consumption. From the beginning to the very end.
