thinking about how many a times you’ll be in bed with robby with your head on his chest just yapping his ear off and usually he’ll let you go on, sometimes he’ll even listen, but other times when you’re really just talking for the sake of talking his big hand just wordlessly descends over your mouth, and it’s so big that it spans the entire lower half of your face close to covering your nose too and he just shushes you quietly eyes still on his book n gives you a kiss on the head and nothing more until he decides you’re ready to be let loose again :(
Amiee Huang, eldest daughter to immigrants, aspiring businesswoman, and artist at heart, attempting to find her own path in life, while trying to please everyone else.
Sinclair Bryant, almost divorced businessman, walking encyclopedia, and golden retriever in human form trying to navigate and piece together his life after his wife's betrayal.
What do these two have in common? Just an immense love for food, business savvy, and oh yeah, the heartbreak they both share after splitting up almost six years ago.
When they reunite, they have to untangle the strings wrapped around their lives, and maybe they'll even find that their hearts never untangled from each other.
summary: another night of lackluster sex with your boyfriend leads you to Robby's door. who else would you confide in about your lack of pleasure than your closest friend. he's sure he can show you a thing or two.

“Yeah baby— I’m so close!”
The old wood of the twin bed creaked and bumped into concrete walls. Soft thuds echoing off the walls, mixing with the feverish grunts of your boyfriend. Plaid sheets messily sprawled around your body, undone from being pushed aside in an effort to peel your clothes off.
It’s an unsightly scene, at least in your eyes. Your chest pushed into the mattress, his sweaty hands gripping on to the plush skin of your hips, pulling your bottom half up and bending you in half. Weakly pushing and pulling his cock in and out of your somewhat interested hole. The feeling of his sloppy rhythm against your ass. Like a fish flailing on dry land. A pace that only he could enjoy.
Boring. Yawning. Sloppy.
The three words that stuck to your brain throughout the entirety of 15 minutes. You were glad your face was pushed into the pillow and partially covered by your hair. Or else your boyfriend would see the flat expression that you couldn’t manage to cover up. Playing off your ‘pleasure’ with fake high pitched moans. It’s good enough to fool him, make him feel like he’s really doing something.
“Oh gosh I’m gonna—!” He chokes on his words as his hips come to a halt. Forcing you deeper into the pillow and mattress as his hips stutter. Dumping another sad, sad load into the condom.
A deep sigh left your lips, as you rolled over on to your back. Your boyfriend pulled out and sat on his heels, panting like a dog. A stark difference in who really got to feel it tonight.
This is how the routine went on. You enter his dorm room, while his roommate is gone for the evening. Laze around on the cramped bed, converse about your days, then go straight into the act. You grew to— you had to grow to get used to it. Did you enjoy it, like it? Like is a very strong word. Of course, you cherished every moment with your boyfriend. But after the ill-fated honeymoon phase passed, a deep pit had started to form in your stomach. One that screamed concerns from its very depths.
But you aren’t shallow, never will be. You know there is more to a relationship than sex. He got you flowers on every date. Held doors open for you. You liked the way his fingertips felt when they ran over your scalp. You can learn to enjoy mediocre sex. Maybe he just had to be trained a little more.
Who were you kidding? Why should you have to train your own boyfriend on how to make you feel good?
“So uh— did you finish too baby?” You cringed at the question. Sweet, simple Derrek. Too lost in his own pleasure that he couldn’t tell, in the last few weeks, you had not been able to finish with him at all. Forcing you to take the burden of saving his ego by lying to him everytime.
“Yeah, yeah I did. Thank you, honey.” Forcing a soft smile on to your lips as you give his arm a soft pat.
And on with the routine; exchanging a few kisses, pulling clothes back on, and getting ready to slip out the door.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, yeah baby?” He asked, holding the door open. The dim light of the dorm hall contrasted with the bright, warm light of his dorm room.
“Yeah. Yeah, maybe. I might have to study extra tomorrow night for my microbiology exam on Friday. But, I’ll call your line.”
“Please don’t tell me you’re studying with Robby— You know I don’t like that guy.”
You turn your body to start walking away. Really to hide the massive eyeroll. “How many times have I told you not to worry about Robby?”
You finally slip away from the dorm. Hearing the heavy, wooden door shut behind you as you trail down the hallway, a deep weight lifts off your shoulders. Finally dropping the act that came with every intimate night. The act of pretending that you didn’t want to shake him and scream to finally make you finish. To listen to your needs for a change. Throw in a spank in or something. Call you anything but your name.
You float out of the building, walking through dark courtyards with students lingering around walking to the library or back to their own dorm. Not much is on your mind as you aimlessly stroll. Thinking about what to eat in your little stash of snacks. If it’s time to do laundry. If you’d have to let your fingers slip into your panties to feel some kind of release. Mundane. That’s all it felt like after evenings with your boyfriend. Not magical, blissful, or euphoric.
It’s not long until you are on the floor of your dorm room. Passing by closed doors, old flyers start to peel off the walls. As you approach your door, reaching into your bag for your keys, your eyes drift to the final door at the very end of the hall.

Do Not Knock After 9 PM! - robby
Your lips curled up from its original thin line. You knew Robby would make an exception this one time. It’s only 9:07 anyway. He always knew how to lift your spirits.
Fleeting past 3 doors, standing in front of Robby’s. Knuckles rapping against cool wood. A muffled groan on the other side, followed by subtle padding of footsteps leading up to the door.
“How many times do I have to tell you people… Read the sign—” As the door opens, Robby rubbing the tiredness from his eyes. Stopped in his slight annoyance from your surprise visit. Leaning against the door as he softens.
“Well good evening to you too, Robert. Am I interrupting your 9 PM bedtime? ” you ask with a fake pout.
“Never sweetheart.”
The mere presence of you is enough to turn Robby’s evening indifference into something sweeter. Reciprocating your smile with a slanted smirk of his own. Jerking his head backwards, motioning for you to come in. l told you to stop calling me Robert, slipping from his lips as a mumble.
Slipping your shoes off and dropping your bag by the door. Your body finds its new home in Robby’s bed. Falling back into the mattress, that is somehow more comfortable than yours, humming at the easing feeling on your back. And Robby is quick to flop right next to you. Lean arm folding under his head, giving him room to slide right next to you. Pressing your sides against each other. Your head rests on his arm as a cushion as you lean into his body.
According to other people (anyone that isn’t you and Robby), this is not how two friends hang out. Friends don’t cuddle, which you weren’t cuddling anyways. It’s for body heat, and dorm beds are tiny; there's only so much space to go around.
Ok, maybe the both of you cuddle. Just a little bit. Locking arms, tangling legs, occasionally falling asleep in that position after long nights of studying. It’s for bonding! It’s hard to make meaningful friendships in med school. Everyone either is too busy to hang out, or lives too high up on a self-proclaimed pedestal. And that’s why Robby is your closest friend. Best friends even, that occasionally cuddle, sleep in each other's bed, and give the off handed kiss on the cheek. Completely platonic. Anyone who thought you were more was overthinking it. Especially your boyfriend, who was not too happy when you would catch you sitting too close for his comfort.
“Friends don’t call each other honey and sweetheart!” Derrek would say.
Yes they totally can.
“What happened to your night out with your boyfriend? What’s his name, Connor? Brian?” Feigning interest in his eyes.
“It’s Derrek, don’t be a dick Robby. And it ended a little earlier than I thought. So why not pay a visit to my second favorite guy?”
“You must have the wrong room because Freddie Prinze Junior isn’t in here.” You roll your eyes and bite back an annoyed smile. With the uneventful time you had with your boyfriend, you were not in the mood for more jokes. Rolling your body over to let yourself out.
Robby whines, grabbing at your forearm to pull you back in. Pulling you back to the position you were previously in; cradled into his side as you rest on his tricep.
“Heyyy, I’m joking. You know I have all the time for you. What’s on your mind?” He said while nudging your side with his hip.
With a huff, you sit up and press your back against the cool wall, pulling your knees to your chest. Shaking your head, searing denial into your brain. Robby was not the right person to talk to about your bedroom troubles. As much as you want to.
“It’s nothing. Just didn’t feel like going back to my dorm.” But Robby knew you better than that. He egged you on, pushing and prodding you to tell him more. What did you really have to hide from him? He told you everything and as did you. Even though he loved to tease and poke fun at you, he never tried to judge you.
Biting on the inside of your cheek, you look at him cautiously. “If I tell you this, you cannot tell it to anyone else. Like at all.”
“Oh, so I can’t tell Freddie Prinze Junior?”
You smack his arm. “I’m being serious Robby!”
“Ok, ok fine— What’s the matter?” Robby moves himself up, just like you did. Back against the wall and knees slightly bent. Taking a hand to hook under your bent knee and pulling your legs to drape over his lap.
You groan and lean your head against the wall. Squeezing your eyes shut as embarrassment began to creep up your face. As open as you are with Robby, admitting anything about your sex life with your boyfriend was hard. Maybe it’s because you were trying to be serious with Derrek. And vowed to not give Robby any ammunition in order to make him get along with your boyfriend. But the dull sex was weighing on you. You had no one else to vent to about it.
“For the past few weeks, maybe a month… Derrek has not been able to…” your hands roll in motion. “Finish the job. My job, per say.”
Robby’s eyebrows scrunch, that smart doctor brain of his took a few seconds to catch your drift. His lips turned into that sickening smirk that you knew all too well. He was not going to let you live this down.
“You’ve been letting that bonehead have sex with you and not let you finish?” He taunts the idea in the form of a deep laugh. You wanted to give him another swat on the arm for laughing. But, you knew better because you knew he was right to laugh. To develop an inside joke with you for later down the line with this new information. Something that will cause him to give you a knowing look anytime he is in the same vicinity as Derrek. A very, I know something you don’t know I know, look. One that came with a shit eating grin.
“It’s not that he’s not letting me finish, I just don’t think he really knows that I’m not finishing…”
Robby dips his head down to level his eyes with yours, eyes that have been avoiding his ever since the conversation started.
“Are you telling him that you finished?” You nod sheepishly. He stifles a giggle behind his lips, shaking his head to shake away how much knowing your own boyfriend can’t satisfy you is elating him.
Robby always knew that Derrek was not going to be good enough for you. You were a med student, top of your class during your undergrad. And he was just some guy. So uninteresting in Robby’s eyes, he didn’t know his major or care to remember his name. Robby can do a way better job, but he never really admits that to himself. Usually too busy with his roster full of other girls pawing their way to the top to even consider why he thought he would be a better choice for you.
“So what— his dick too small? Or he’s a minute man?” Robby asks, another nudge with his elbow, egging you on for more. He is one of the nosiest men you know. But that’s because it was so easy to get the words flowing from you. So trusting of Robby you have no fear in telling him every detail.
“He lasts as long as he can! He kind of sounds cringey? When we have sex. I don’t know, hearing him grunt was not as hot as I thought it would be. He sounds like a pig. But any time we have sex, it’s just that. Not that exciting or freaky… It’s so vanilla.”
And there came the flood gates. Weeks of sexual frustration coming out in the form of broken words. Airing out everything to Robby. From how vanilla sex had been feeling, to how your boyfriend refuses to acknowledge foreplay as an important part of sex.
Just as Robby hypothesized; Derrek is fucking boring. He knew that from the very beginning. Hence, why he knew nothing about him, and didn’t care to know anything about him. And with this new information, he wanted to laugh harder than he should. Tease and rub it in your face that he knew all along that this guy was not right for you. To ditch him, find someone more in tune with your needs and intelligence.
But Robby is a good friend, he wasn’t going to rub it in your face. At least not tonight, maybe tomorrow after a lecture. It hurt just seeing his best friend not get treated the way she deserves. He brings a comforting hand to your knee, rubbing his thumb over the fabric of your jeans.
“I just don’t know what to do! I don’t want to have to teach him how to have good sex. And it feels like it’s been so long since I’ve had good sex that I don’t even know what good sex looks like!” You whine.
“What exactly are you missing?”
It felt shameful to admit, shallow. Admitting that you felt entitled to something more than a kiss and fuck.
“Well he doesn’t… he doesn’t do any of the things I want to do…” It’s too late to look sheepish in front of Robby. You were so willing to tell him about your bedroom troubles. He motioned you to keep going, more detail. Robby never liked vague details.
“He’s never eaten me out… or ever really does it the way I like too.” You get quieter with each word, shrinking into yourself. What a humiliation ritual, admitting to yourself and your friend how unsatisfied you have become in your relationship.
“And how exactly do you like it?” he pried, really interrogating you this evening.
“Like, toss me around or something! Pull my hair, I don't care!” Begging and pleading to the room. And Robby heard you loud and clear.
“Poor girl, you really do have it the worst don’t you?” he said with a taunting frown.
“God, why did I even come to talk to you? What would you know…”
A deep chuckle erupts from his throat again. Relishing how easy it is for Robby to push your buttons. You enjoy it though, enjoy that Robby doesn’t try to put up a nice guy act. He can meet you at your level and try to bait you into giving it back to him.
“I’ll have you know I am a very generous person in bed. Always make sure the girl I’m with gets a chance to meet the finish line too.”
You narrow your eyes, mind whirling around how hard you found it to believe in his own words. Robby has always had a reputation of trying to sleep with any pretty thing that walked on two legs. You even had the misfortune of walking in on him and his fling of the week once or twice. He was known to sleep around. So, your mind wanted to fill in the blanks by thinking he was selfish in bed. Who can blame him? Robby was handsome and knew how to use his words well. As much as you want to be Michael Robinavitch’s number one hater, you heard the subtle whispers of girls talking about what he could actually do in bed. You refused to believe it, you know the real Robby.
“Really? Michael Robinavitch, the man that can’t seem to commit to one person for more than a month, has enough care in his heart to treat a girl right in bed?”
“Yeah, I’m wounded that you don’t believe me.”
“Because you’re full of shit.”
“Nope. If I was your boyfriend, you’d be creaming around my cock every night.” The way he said it so casually. Like it was just another passing thought in his mind. Talking to you like it would have no effect on you. It did have an effect on you, a big one. Widening your eyes in bewilderment, how could he just say that to you? Out of the blue?
You were put into fawn mode. Fingers freezing in an invisible grip, heat rising up your neck and flooding into the plush skin of your cheeks. Warm air catches in your throat, fighting with the urge to say anything back to him. The words are lost on you, he got you right under his thumb. Trapping you in a corner where you simply can’t move on from what he said. His forwardness and confidence gave your heart a little skip. As close as the two of you were, the topic of sex was never a hot one. Maybe a jab about being up too late because of sex. But this was new territory for you.
“Yeah right… Ha ha very funny.” At this time of night, you weren’t really in a joking mood. Especially jokes at the expense of your own pleasure, which you had been seeking out for so long.
“I’m not joking. If you’d let me, I’d show you a good time.” Robby’s hand that was once a comfort on your knee, slowly slid down to your thigh. His fingertips felt more of your warmth as they slipped to find comfort between your thighs. He managed to stay a respectful distance from your core, but close enough to make you aware of Robby’s growing intentions. Hooking his hold around your thigh, giving you a firm squeeze on your thigh. Your body instinctively pressed your thighs together.
“Stop Robby that tickles. Your room is so fucking dirty, you really need to clean it…” You were quick to try and change the subject.
Robby was leaning in closer, eyes connecting with yours once again. His warm breath fanned against your face. A part of you was screaming inside to pull away, this is turning into a weird direction. You have a somewhat, semi-serious boyfriend. You pride yourself on loyalty. But that little devil on your shoulder was more convincing. Just hear him out. See what he has to offer. He’s your best friend, why wouldn’t he be telling you the truth?
“You know I wouldn't lie to you sweetheart. Cross my heart.” His voice dropped to that boyish tone he would use to sway your opinion. A cute smile and a little sparkle in his eyes. Like a god damn puppy that was begging you to take them home.
And before you could think further, his free hand reaches for yours, intertwining fingers. His large hand envelops yours as he pulls it to his lips. Goosebumps spread over your skin as warm lips press against soft skin. Traveling from the top of your hand, to the bottom of your wrist. A tender type of kiss you weren’t completely used to, especially from Robby. It powered down your defenses, tense shoulders relaxing. You were deprived of this kind of sweet intimacy, weakened by a need for more than the standard. Your eyes followed his movements, kissing your skin and petting at your thigh. Robby started leaning in closer, maneuvering his body to wedge himself between your thighs. Lips traveling up your arm, skipping to your neck. It sparked the long lost warmth in between your thighs that you haven’t properly felt in a long time.
“Robby… we— I shouldn’t…” You stifle a mewl as he nips at the skin of your neck. “This isn’t right… ‘m with Derrek.” But your body betrayed your words. Softening underneath him as he slowly kissed up to your burning cheek.
“I won’t tell, I know you won’t… just wanna show you what feeling good really feels like. It’s for science. ‘S that ok baby?” His voice is ringing in your head. Squeezing your eyes shut to try and rationalize it. “It’s not really cheating.”
For science, please. It’s so wrong, so so so so wrong. You crossed the line of cheating when he kissed your hand. Derrek has been nothing but good to you.But you’re buzzing with excitement. A slick forming in your panties that you were sure if Robby found, he wouldn’t let you live it down.
Robby hovered his lips above yours, a sliver of space between you. The slightest movement will close the gap, seal the deal of your betrayal. The logical side of your brain is telling you to stop and shake your head. Run away to your dorm and act like none of this ever happened.
“Talk to me sweetheart. Do you want me to make you feel good?”
“Yes Robby… please…”
Who gives a fuck, you’re a girl with needs. And Robby is offering to help you meet those needs.
With no time to waste, Robby’s lips seal onto yours. Licking himself into your mouth, teeth scraping together as his tongue swipes over yours. The lingering taste of coffee and toothpaste trickling onto your tongue. It was delicious, more than you should like. Tasting Robby’s day on his tongue. Nervous hands reaching up to Robby’s stomach, feeling his body through the boundary of a loose cotton t-shirt he used for sleeping. You can feel Robby smiling into your kisses, amused how you were so in tune with him already. He pulled away briefly, making you whine softly as he pulled the shirt from over his head.
You have seen Robby shirtless countless of other times. This setting should be nothing new, but it was daunting on your mind. His knees perched between your legs, forcing you to stay spread open for him. A growing bulge in Robby’s sweatpants rutted against the fabric. Physical proof he wanted this just as much. You didn’t know you wanted it too, more so you felt your body pulling you in Robby’s direction. Taking you further and further away from Derrek.
Robby brought his lips back to yours, licking at the seam, pushing his tongue past your lips to take its place against your tongue. Your mind growing a fog you don’t realize he plucked the button of your jeans, pulling the garment down past your knees and over your ankles. An unforgiving wet spot forming on your cotton panties. The cute white ones with pink lace on the waistband.
“It’s like you knew this was going to happen didn’t you? Wearing cute panties for me.” He teased, tickling his fingertips on your navel. Threatening to go lower and lower.
“It’s not for you Robby.”
“Yeah, but I bet I appreciate it more than he does, right?”
Your silence was a good enough answer for him. Looping his fingers under the hem of fabric and pulling it down slowly. Robby watches intently as it glides against your smooth skin. Like nothing, the panties disappear behind him, into the void with your jeans. Robby lets a deep, content sigh escape his lips. Sitting back on his heels as he takes in the sight of your drooling pussy. Priding himself on how easily he made you a dripping mess. His hand caresses the nook of your thigh, traveling up to feel the warmth above your pussy. Robby pressed his thumb against your aching clit. A firm press, before beginning slow circles. Using your slick as a lubricant to easily glide the pad of his thumb around your clit.
The muscles of your legs tighten and shake all at the same time. It's as if he was using your clit as a joystick, stirring your body to be at his mercy. With a swift motion, Robby’s free hand pokes two fingers at the slit of your cunt. You gasp, finally moving your eyes to watch as he slides the long digits between your folds. Silent squelching as his thick fingers rub against velvety walls. Struggling to hold in a moan, pathetic whines fails you.
“Does that feel good baby? When I rub your clit and finger your soaking pussy.” It was vulgar the way he was describing it to you. Forcing you to picture it every way you can. You want to shake your head no, just to prove him wrong and remind yourself your boyfriend will always have your heart. But you’re not a liar. It felt good, amazing even. The most you’ve felt in a very long time.
“I think she’s enjoying it very much.” Robby answers for you. Easing the pace on your pussy, curling his fingers up against that particular spot with each thrust of his hand. “Pussy is practically crying for me. I think she wants more… What about you honey… Do you want more?”
Never in the months that you have been dating Derrek, had he ever asked if you wanted more. Watching as Robby toys with your heat, you nod your head slowly. Eyes never moving from his movements to not miss what he does to you for a beat. His smile widens, perking his cheeks up. Robby is eating up seeing you unraveling for him in a way he thought he would never have the pleasure of seeing one day.
He dips his head down, a quick swipe of his tongue up against your slit. Collecting your wetness on his tongue. You groaned and rolled your head back. Robby filled the gap between your clit and finger-stuffed slit by sucking his lips against the free space. Overloading your senses, feeling all of Robby against your pussy. Using everything he could possibly have, with the exception of his dick. He tasted the tart fluid in his mouth, humming into your flesh with satisfaction. Not too sweet, but not sour at all. The right taste that spurred him on to eat more of you. Robby gave his thumb a rest, replacing it with this mouth. Sucking on the bud and rolling his tongue against it.
It felt like hours he had been ravishing at your sex, dizzying your head and eliciting mindless moans and cries from you. Music to his ears, sounds that he knew your boyfriend never heard genuinely. It will be etched in his brain for the rest of his waking life. Shaking knees coming to a halt when Robby finally pulls away, wiping your arousal away from his chin with the back of his hand. It was over too soon for you. He got you so close to the brink, why was he pulling away now. Bringing yourself to your elbows, huffing as he pauses.
It was rewiring his brain, staring at your soaked cunt. He remembered how it pulsed around his fingers during each movement. He swooped in to save you from Derrek at the right time.
“That good, huh baby? We can go two ways; I keep sucking on your sweet girl and make you cum on just my tongue, or make you cream around my cock. Just like how I promised.” he proposed, leaning himself back in to loom over you. His hands started at your thighs, pushing up to your stomach, slipping under the top you had left on.
Any reasonable girl that loved their boyfriend would realize how wrong this was and stop it. You should have stopped it a long time ago. You were a broken record in your own head; screaming at yourself to finish this and go back to Derrek. Admit defeat and learn to love the sex you had. It’s a shame, everyone has their vices, and this was becoming yours.
“Don’t break your promise to me now, Robby.”
He smiles smugly, tugging his sweatpants away and letting them fall off the bed. No boxers, nothing to give you a moment to adjust the sight of him. Long cock bobbing in the air, rosy tip that had the smallest drip of precum. What a whore, of course he doesn’t wear underwear to bed. Robby was consistent in proving your own prophecies wrong. He was much more well endowed than Derrek had been. You pull your top over your head, reaching around to unclip and slip your bra away from your body. In all your naked glory, Robby celebrated in his head. Plush curves and supple skin, how could your boyfriend fail in giving your body the best is deserved?
Robby pumps his cock a few times, inching closer to line himself up with your slit. When his tip finally prodded your folds, it made a sickeningly wet sound. Coating his tip in all of your built up sin. He reveled in the feeling of your pussy on his cock. Rolling his head back as he sunk deeper and deeper. Hips pressing into yours, the most skin contact the two of you have ever made outside of cuddling. The depths that his cock was able to reach pulled out a noise you didn’t know you could make. Raw and hungry, mewling as he stretched you out to a new size. You braced yourself by grabbing on to his forearm. Pressing your eyes shut to see the white stars in your vision.
Robby started to roll his hips into yours, pulling his cock out half way then burying himself back to the hilt. His well tamed bush tickles your skin. He grabbed under your thighs, splitting you out and open. A deep stretch in your hip joint as he gave himself a better angle to thrust into.
“Fuck! Fuck fuck fuck… Robby!” you try to keep your cries hushed, not wanting to rudely wake up anyone else on the form floor.
The lustful sounds of skin slapping on skin as he deepens his stroke and quickens his pace. It echoed in your ears and pushed away any thought of your boyfriend. Large hand grabbing at your chin, squishing cheeks to get a good grip to guide your face up from the bed.
“Open your eyes baby, you wanted this, why aren’t you watching?” A comforting stroke of his thumb as your eyes obediently open.
Looking down to watch, the base of his cock disappears inside your pussy as he drags himself out and pushes back in. It was intoxicating, forcing yourself with the realization that this is what you were asking for. Begging the universe to give you one night of good sex. You held yourself up, eyes flicking from his face to your weeping cunt. It mirrored Robby, who was savoring the way you bit on your lip to stifle every little noise that came out of you.
“Say it..” He managed to say between his own grunts and moans.
“S-Say what…”
“That I’m better.”
Smug mother fucker. He can’t just enjoy the moment and let you feel good. He has to keep rubbing it in that you’re willingly cheating on your boyfriend with your best friend. His thumb presses down on your clit, quick to make smooth circles around the needy bud again. Like pressing a button to get the words to come out of you. The sensations that brewed in your core were more than you were used to handling.
“Shit! Robby… you’re better!”
He leans in close, the hand that was holding your face grabbing a fistfull of hair and giving it a taut tug. The mild pain on your scalp went straight to your core, walls squeezing down around him. A dark chuckle erupting from his throat.
“Better at what, dirty girl?”
He was stirring the pot with his words, berating and shaming you. You liked— loved it. Making you get off on your unfaithfulness. Another tug with his hand, the pressure of his thumb on your clit getting harder.
“You’re better at fucking me! You’re so much better Robby.”
“That’s my girl.” He praised.
That long lost knot inside you grew tighter and tighter. Toes curling as he thrusted into you like he was on a mission. As that knot snaps, you finally come around his cock, that deep loss of dissatisfaction is no more. It’s fireworks in your core, writhing in his hold as he fuck you through your orgasm. He kisses your bare shoulders and necks, whispering praises into your ears as he chases his own high.
“Such a good girl… Being a slut for me and letting me show you how good you can feel…”
His grip on your hair and thigh tighten, the edges of his fingernails sure to leave a mark later down the line. Rutting his hips into yours as his thrusts become uneven. Robby catches his release. Spurts of warm liquid flood your insides, painting your walls with his load. You couldn’t have cared less that he didn’t use a condom. It was worth it to experience the cloud you were floating on called bliss. Derrek is finally an afterthought. The shortlasting euphoria was worth it. Even though, when you lie awake tonight, you’ll remember what you have done.
Robby pulled himself away, a trail of your juices mixed together and coating his cock. A dripple of cum starting to leak from your slit. Catching his breath, he slides himself next to you, running his arm under your neck to pull you in close. A soft kiss on your forehead. For how wrong he was for making you cheat, he still made you feel good about it in some ways. Knowing he would be ready to comfort you in any way you’d ask when you eventually dump your boyfriend.
“So… what did we learn today?” he asks.
“It’s way better when you do it.”
a/n pt2: hello taglist i have not used in a long time LMAO
robby so pretends to hate cuddling but there's nine million pics in the designated house groupchat of him laying on his back across the couch with reader sprawled out on top of him drooling on his shirt. THAT is canon - 🍓
CANON!!!!!!! YES!!!!! he always acts like he’s resigning himself to letting you cuddle with him, purely for your sake, but it makes his heart feel so full every time <3 god frank always taking pics and sending them when robby’s scolding you <3 like robby will text -> Brat, come clean up your nail polish. I’m sick of asking.
and frank responds with a picture from like an hour earlier of robby conked out in the chair holding you in his arms with the message -> You and brat btw
or you’re out with a friend and text -> can i stay over till 12 tn? 🙏🏻 😇
and robby responds -> Seriously? All you’ve done this week is piss me off. Curfew’s 11 like always.
and frank sends a picture he took the day before where you’re laying fully atop robby on the couch, and you’re gazing at him with big sweet eyes and he’s smiling at you and with it frank just sends -> ?
What if Jack has to stay at Robby’s place cuz the heatings broke at his or smth n then Robby’s house only has the three rooms (Robby, frank, reader) so reader says jack can stay in her room
Js thinking abt all the shenanigans they’d get up to 🤭
Maybe even frank getting a little jealous reader is spending so much time with Jack
18+ mdni omg your mind.... several little moments have come to my mind so this is gonna jump around a bit and probably end up kinda long
first im picturing you're all in the livingroom when jack calls robby and the second you hear robby's "Hey, brother" you're grinning, disentangling yourself from frank on the couch, going to robby’s chair, and crawling into his lap <33
"Oh, shit. Four days to fix it? Yeah, man, I heard it's gonna be a cold one. Of course. We don't have a spare room, but--" there's a short pause before robby scoffs lightheartedly. "you kidding me? I like you and all, but I don’t miss waking up to your arm hitting my face. We've got a perfectly good couch--"
"He can stay in my room!" You chirp right away. Robby looks at you with a raised brow, Frank rolls his eyes, and you can just barely hear Jack's chuckle through the phone. Jack says something that you can't make out, but whatever it is makes Robby scoff again. "Please?" You frown. "He shouldn't have to stay on the couch..."
"She ends up in one of our rooms most nights anyway." Frank points out wryly. As if you'll be sharing a bed with anyone other than Mr. Abbot for the short 4 days you have him.
"Yeah. Sure." Robby allows. You break out in a huge grin.
When Jack arrives that evening with his duffel bag, he also comes with pizza, wings, garlic knots, beers, and cookies <3 he shrugs it off when you gape and robby says it wasn't necessary "Gotta eat, don't we? And you're doing me a big favor."
ugh it's like a 4 day long sleepover with your biggest crush <3 you break out all your cutest pjs, you guys are constantly oogling one another and being all touchy... at one point jack comes out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, and asks "How the hell do you turn on the hot water?" and you brightly say "Let me show you!" and are up so fast that it's a wonder you don't get whiplash....
of course it leads to Jack fucking you in the shower... and when you both emerge later, hair wet and in your pajamas, frank laughs and robby looks at you both over his glasses and dryly jokes "If you do that every night you're helping with our water bill this month."
ugh YES and frank getting jealous!! i think he’s fine at first bc he really does like jack and doesnt mind the dynamic of the four of you… but by the end of day 2 the constancy of jack having most of your attention does start to get to him.
it comes to a head the morning of day 3… frank’s definitely starting to miss you guys’ usual morning routine of making coffee and being all cuddly :(( he comes to the kitchen to find you already sitting on the counter, looking so cute with your bedhead and your legs swinging idly… but you don’t even look at him when he walks in, you’re staring intently at jack as he cooks breakfast
Frank grumbles back a quiet “morning” when Jack greets him, then grabs a mug from the cabinet… and you scowl and say “That’s Jack’s mug.”
and frank shoots you such an exasperated look, so over it. “Jack doesn’t live here, how could this be his mug?”
“He uses it every morning—“
“It’s been two mornings”
Jack’s wearing an amused grin and cooly says “It’s okay, doll, I don’t mind.”
“But you said you pick it cause you love the color.” You insist, stubborn. Then to Frank, “Use a different one.”
But Frank just scoffs and rolls his eyes and continues the process of brewing his coffee. You stretch out your leg to jab him with your foot. “Fraaaank.”
“Watch it.” He snaps with more bite than usual.
You pout. “Why are you so crabby? It’s no fun.”
“No fun?” He mocks. He puts down the bag of coffee he’s holding and approaches you. Plants his hands on the counter on either side of your thighs, boxing you in and getting in your face. “You want me to be fun, princess?”
“Yeah,” you murmur, already a little breathless… his lips are on you the next moment, heavy and rushed and possessive. You gasp into his mouth and he grips your waist to pull you closer to the edge of the counter, allowing you to grind against one another…
Soon Robby walks into the kitchen to see Frank fully fucking you while Jack casually cooks at the stove not 4 feet away. He groans and tiredly scratches his beard. Mutters “Jesus christ, it’s too early for this.” as he moves to stand beside Jack and lean against the wall. “We’ve talked about fucking on the counter.”
“Please,” Frank pants. “You ate her pussy in this exact spot last week.”
Robby ignores the heat that rises to his cheeks when Jack shoots him a boyish grin. “That was after dinner— there is active cooking going on right now! Food is out!”
“Don’t be a prude.” You tease breathily. You grin, pleased with yourself, when both Jack and Frank let out shocked laughter. Robby shakes his head, resigned.

"Sooo."
You knew that tone well. That was the tone Sasha used when she was about to say something that you would inevitably reply with 'no comment'. Ever since you had known her, she had a talent for sniffing out information about anything and anyone just by observing what was going on. It was no wonder she had a budding career as an attorney at one of D.C's most prominent law firms.
However today, you were proud to say that you were one step ahead of her, already anticipating the question, since it had been a recurring theme.
"Amara let it slip that you are seeing someone," Sasha started as she put her elbows on the table and plopped her face in between open palms. "And that that someone happens to be a regular at the cafe?"
Bingo.
"I plead the fifth."
"No! I'm revoking your right to do that!"
"That sounds incredibly illegal Attorney Edwards," you pointed out with a smirk, busying yourself with pouring the macerated strawberries you had been working on into a glass jar for later. "Don't want me calling the bar association on you now do you?"
"Good news, I don't think they take much umbrage with it if it's not regarding some misconduct that affects a case."
With a hum, you closed the jar and moved over to put it in the fridge as you felt her eyes burning a hole in the back of your head.
However, before you transferred it to the fridge, you turned, shooting her a playful grin and joked, "Just like this jar, my lips are sealed."
"Oh come oooonnn!" she begged as she vacated her spot from the counter to come and bump her hip against yours. It earned her your protest, which she ignored in favor of her continued badgering of the mystery man of the hour.
"He's gotta be something if you're over here baking stuff for him already."
"I-I'm not!" you spluttered, rounding on her to see a self-satisfied smirk plastered on her face, knowing she had caught you in, for lack of a better word, a lie. "'M-Mara asked me to come up with some new items for the seasonal menu and that's what I'm doing."
Sasha raised an eyebrow at your explanation, which clearly conveyed to you that she didn't buy it.
"Bullshit, you usually do that in the kitchen at the cafe, not here."
Yep. She definitely had a great future as an attorney of some sort. Or maybe you were just terrible at making up stories.
Probably both.
"I'm just trying something new out," you pouted, your voice turning low as you added, "plus, even if I was doing this for him, which I'm not, what's so wrong about that?"
"Nothing! Nothing's wrong with that it's just that I've never seen this side of you."
"And what side is that?" you asked, regretting the question almost immediately when a devilish smirk graced her lips.
Twirling her finger around a curly strand of hair, she threw her free arm around you and sang, "Ohhh just the in loooove side of you."
A choked sound left your throat at the accusation, and you gently shoved her away as you stared at her with wide eyes while you shook your head.
"I-I'm not in love!" you practically shouted.
"Weewoo! Weewoo! The bullshit meter readings are off the chart!" she chanted with a gleeful expression, fully aware of what a menace she was being, but having too good a time to stop. "Thy lady doth protest too much!"
Even with her being a menace, you couldn't stop the laugh that escaped your lips at how slightly unhinged she had begun trying to figure out what your feelings were for the 'Mystery Man' as she dubbed him
"Sasha please," you sighed, trying to keep a straight face, but failing as the impatient expression she wore was pretty amusing. "Okay. Fine. I might like him a little bit-"
"A lot don't lie."
You rolled your eyes.
"I like him okay? Happy?"
"Yes! See? Doesn't it feel good to say it!" she pointed out with a giddy smile as she clapped like someone who had gotten the best news of their life. "Oh he's gotta be something to have you all like…like," she made a circular motion with both of her palms facing your direction before finishing, "like this."
You rolled your eyes at her words, but the tiny smile etched on your lips at her enthusiasm was all the confirmation she needed.
"Oh. Oh. Girl you are whipped for him aren't you?"
"I…He's…"
There was really no denying it. You were absolutely whipped for Leon, but you didn't want to come across as desperate. But Christ! What was so wrong with really liking a guy and wanting to show that? Especially someone so…so…
"Sweet," you finally settled on as Sasha listened to you with a smile still on her lips, though a less mischievous one. "He's really sweet. You wouldn't think that first impressions and all, but he is. A gentleman too!"
You paused for a moment, a thoughtful look settling onto your features before you added offhandedly, "Also full of one-liners. I think he has a filing cabinet in his brain for them. It's uncanny the way he spins them up so quickly ."
A laugh broke through Sasha's lips at your explanation, and you were about to protest, thinking she was poking fun at you. Before you could do that, though, she shook her head and pulled you into a tight hug that caught you off guard.
"I was just joking about being whipped for him you know!" she teased when she pulled away, her eyes bright as she let you go. "But you are! Look at you. You haven't been this shiny since you started grad school!"
"That's not true!" you rebutted, before being quickly shot down with her giving you a look that clearly meant she disagreed with you. "Okay it's kinda true."
She nodded and hummed her agreement at your words, though she did have one more complaint to lodge. "'s not fair Amara gets to know already though."
A flit of laughter left you because, of course, that's what she was upset about. "She's the boss you know," you pointed out with an amused shake of your head.
The musical notification going off on your phone, which had been silent most of the day, drew both your attention to it. You were about to ignore it, going to ask Sasha what she was about to say, when once again,
'Ding!'
You could see the way her expression morphed in real time from mindless curiosity to mission-seeking as she looked between you and the phone, and honestly, it was pretty amusing. And it would have been more so if you weren't on the receiving end of it.
"Is that him?"
"I'm not a psychic so no idea," you retorted, eyeing your phone for longer than a moment.
You had texted him about two days ago, asking if he wanted to accompany you to see the cherry blossoms down at the National Mall, now that they were in bloom. It seemed like a good place just to hangout, and you could make some food for it and bring it along for a picnic. However, you hadn't gotten a response from him since, which did deflate you a bit.
In all fairness, he had warned you that sometimes his line of work caused him to go off the grid for a few days at a time, and he would try to message you whenever he could. It did seem like you had caught him in the middle of work, something you kept telling yourself, even if the little gremlin in the back of your head wanted to convince you otherwise.
So when your phone went off again, you couldn't lie about hoping that it was him. Eagerness to check the message quickly set in, as your eyes lingered on the device that sat on your coffee table. Staring at it for a second more, you turned back to look at Sasha, who raised an eyebrow in your direction.
There was something nice about being friends with people with whom you could have a full conversation with just by looking at one another. Sasha, was one of them. And you could see the way the cogs in her brain whirled before it clicked, and she shook her head with laughter.
"Okay okay," she declared, throwing her hands up as she glanced at the digital oven clock and back at you. "I gotta head back to the office now anyways so you have all the time to talk to your little boyfriend."
Your face immediately felt like someone had opened a running oven, and all the hot air was blowing at you just from her words. The almighty B-word. The one you had yet to confirm whether or not that was actually the case. Sure you liked Leon. You liked him a lot. And you guys had met up regularly these past few months for various things but -
"H-he's not my boyfriend!" you spluttered out, earning an eye roll from Sasha, who just shook her head.
"Yeah keep telling yourself that, that's what they all say," she replied with a wave of her hand as she made her way to the front door with you in tow.
"He's not," you repeated, albeit softer this time, as she slipped on her shoes and stood at the door.
"Well I think you should confirm with mystery man as well," she suggested as she cracked the door open and added, "he might surprise you."
'Or it might scar me for life.'
You thought to yourself as you said goodbye to her. When she left, you locked the door and hesitated for a moment before scampering back into the living room to retrieve your phone. With one eye closed, and the other squinting like you were doing a terrible job winking at your screen, you swiped down on the notification bar and were met with:
Leon (2 messages received)
A sense of enthusiastic euphoria washed over you in an instant, as you quickly tapped the notification message. The screen flipped and brought you to the last messages you had exchanged with him, and beneath it, was his response that came in moments ago.
You: hey Leon! the cherry blossoms around the national mall are blooming and I wanted to see if you wanted to check em out with me? - [Sent 2 days ago]

Leon: Id take DC winter over whatever I just went through anyday. Also can I pick you up for our adventure?
You: theres a charm about dirty ice piles though you have to admit. and you don't have to!
Leon: I want to.
"Oh," you whispered to yourself when you saw that message.
How was this man real? Was the bar so low that something as simple as him wanting to walk with you not even 10 minutes made you this giddy? Could it be that because he was your first real boyf-
"Whoa going off the tracks way too fast [Y/n]," you muttered to yourself as your thumbs twiddled above the onscreen keyboard while you thought.
You guys hadn't really discussed in depth what you two were to one another. All you knew was you enjoyed hanging out with him and the way he treated you. He was, as you said before, sweet… Just like he was being now with his offer of walking with you. Maybe, this little sightseeing adventure would be a good time to clarify what you two were to one another.
If anything.
Fingers still hovering over the keyboard, your heart fluttered and you took a deep breath before replying to him.
You: I cant say no to that 😀
Leon: Great. I can text you when Im on my way.
You: sounds good! can't wait.
Leon: Same. Im about to try and get some sleep. Talk later?
You: sure get some rest hero!
Leon: Yes maam.
You hadn't noticed that you'd been smiling the moment you saw his name on your phone. And it wasn't until you locked the screen that you noticed the ache in your jaw. Going to rub the sore spot, you yawned to stretch the muscles out, only stopping when there was a sudden 'pop'.
"Ow."
You really needed to get yourself together.
Tuesday mornings at the cafe usually went by in a blur. From getting there two hours before it opened to do some prep work, moving things from fridge to oven, and then oven to display case, it was pure chaos. That also didn't take into consideration the stampede of federal workers rushing in to get their morning caffeine fix before filing into whatever government building they had to go to.
Pair that with you also needing to get your coworkers' thoughts about the new pastry ideas, and it was a full day's work all before lunchtime. Mentally and physically, it wore you out as the hours passed, yet you were able to get into a flow that got you through the day. It did help that everyone was pretty close as well, which kept conflicts down to a minimum, making work as pleasant as work could be.
Today was no different.
And actually, it seemed like you were able to find your flow a little easier despite how early it was, and the amount of dancing around your fellow workers you had to do. That had caught some eyes of course, and it wasn't until the end of morning rush hour, when you went up front to take count of what was in the pastry display, that it came up.
"Someone looks eager to ditch this place."
Surprised, you looked up in the direction of the voice to find Amara, your friend and owner of the cafe, who threw a grin your way as she topped up the coffee grinder with more beans.
"Um…no not really," you replied as you bent down to look inside of the display case. "Just in the zone today."
Holding a pen and a small notebook, you listed the pastries in the case and noted what would probably need refilling soon. Satisfied with what you saw, you stood back up and turned to Amara, who had just passed a drink to the last waiting customer. Thanking them and wishing them a great day, she turned back to you, and the smile on her lips hadn't faltered, causing you to be curious about what she was thinking.
"Mmm okay. Just noticed that you're buzzing about more than normal," she mentioned offhandedly as she wiped her hand on her apron. "Oh, and also noticed that cute picnic basket you brought in today. So just wondering~" she sang before looking at you with a gaze that was basically screaming at you to 'spill the beans'.
Oh god.
She knew. Sasha probably said something to her, and now you were on the radar, which was somewhere you didn't want to be. You loved your friends, you did, but it was nice to keep things to yourself sometimes. Especially when you were still a bit uncertain about the whole 'what are we thing'. So instead of answering, you just shook your head and tried to be nonchalant about the topic.
"'s nothing just got something I'm doing after my shift," you vaguely stated as you tried to end the conversation.
"Really? Going to our competitors down the street to give them samples of our goods," she replied playfully, though you knew it was to get your guard down. "Very good Samaritan of you to let them know what real pastries taste like."
You snorted at her comment; her disdain for one of the other cafes in the area was still strong after an unknown incident that had occurred.
"Yeah…nah I'm not very versed in the world of pastry espionage," you joked as you continued to oh so slowly slip back into the kitchen in hopes you could dodge any more questions. "Plus I would never do that to you, friends and all you know."
Her smirk widened at your statement, and you could hear yourself scream internally because you knew you had fallen into a trap.
"Mhmm yeah friends and all," she repeated as she walked up to you while you continued to try to run away. "So that means as friends you would tell me if you were you know …going on a date after your shift?"
You coughed and nodded, foot pushing the metal door of the kitchen in hopes you could just slip in. "Umm maybe, if I were going on a date that is. But you know I'm not so yeah!"
She looked at you with a raised eyebrow.
"[Y/n]."
"Amara."
"Oh come on girl look at you, you're literally doing that thing people do when they're trying to hide stuff," she pointed out with a dry laugh as she watched you squirm in place.
Seeing that you were not going to break, she threw her hands up and relented. Yet, there was a smile still plastered on her lips while she shook her head in amusement. "Alright, alright, I get it! You wanna keep it to yourself and I shall respect that."
"Thank you."
"Aha! So you are going on a date!'
"Amara!" you stammered, your face twisting into an expression that silently screamed 'really?' as you thought you were done dodging questions.
She shrugged, her lips still quirked into a grin as she pointed out, "Can't stop a girl from trying can you?"
With an amused scoff, you shook your head at her and pushed the metal door to the kitchen open, where you were met with the wafting smell of fresh bread baking. Before you went to hide for the rest of your shift, though, you turned to Amara, who raised an eyebrow. And you knew it was foolish of you, but you couldn't help it. Cheeky grin on your lips and your legs ready to run into the back, you teased her,
"Yep, and you were soooo close to."
Your words were met with a shout of your name, which caused some of the patrons to turn and witness your boss throwing a towel at you while you let out a sharp scream that morphed into a cackle.
After your inquisition and restock of the pastries, which included you dodging any more questions. You found yourself in the staff bathroom changing into something more appropriate than your flour-caked baker's apron and sneakers for your 'not a date' outing with Leon.
Once you were pleased that you had whipped any errant smudge of flour off your face or any that may have landed in your hair, you stuffed your work clothes in the bag you brought and exited the bathroom to retrieve the picnic basket you had brought with you.
Inside of it was a variety of pastries. Some you had nicked from the kitchen and some that were homemade. Of course, Sasha had been right about your baking for Leon the other day, but you couldn't be more than pleased with how the strawberry creme pastry had come out.
"Alright see you guys later!" you called out to the afternoon staff, who said good-bye to you as you pushed open the kitchen door that led into the cafe's dining area.
Things had died down for a moment, and Amara had also left a little earlier for an appointment. Not before wishing you luck on your own 'appointment'.
A smile appeared on your lips as you thought about your friend's antics and scanned the area for a familiar face. When you didn't see him, you readied yourself to go outside and wait, because why not? The weather was picture perfect, and you could use some fresh air after being inside for the past 4ish hours. Adjusting the picnic basket in one hand and your work bag in another, you were about to make the very short trek out, when you were interrupted by the sound of your name.
"[Y/n]?"
Turning around in the direction of the voice, you were met with just who you were looking for.
Leon Kennedy.
Immediately, a smile bloomed on your lips as you greeted him, "Leon hi!" You brought your hand up to wave at him, or tried to, as you found that it was a bit awkward to do so with them both occupied with bags.
"Whoa hey there," he greeted, chuckling as he watched you fumble with your bags for a moment. "Here, let me take one of those."
Reaching out to take the bag from your hand, his fingers brushed against your knuckles briefly, and you bit the inside of your cheek at the sensation of the touch.
"You really don't have to," you protested, albeit weakly, as you still let him take the bag from you without a real fight.
"I know," he stated simply with a shrug. "Wanted to though."
There he went again with that casual assertion that was oh so swoon worthy and made your cheeks warm as you watched him adjust the bag before giving you a once over and asking,
"Ready?"
Snapping out of your swoon session, a smile found its way to your lips, and you nodded, "ready!"
"Ever see the blossoms before?" you asked as you and Leon crossed a bustling D.C. street on the way over to the National Mall.
He shook his head, "From afar, yeah, but never really had a chance to go and just look at them up close."
"Really? Never had the time?"
"Mhmm, with a work schedule as random as mine, it's hard to be able to see something that's gone within a week. Two if you're lucky."
"Oh, for someone whose never seen 'em, you sure know about their proclivity to disappear as quickly as they come up."
"Guys gotta do his research about the date agenda right," he grinned, not even blinking at the d-word that had your eyes widening a tad and your brain going static for a moment. "How about you? First time?"
Still stuck on what he had said, your brain buffered for a moment, completely missing the question, which caused him to assume you hadn't heard him.
"[Y/n]?"
Snapping out of your trance, you were met with amused blue eyes and realized he had been asking you something.
"First time?" he repeated.
"O-oh no, no actually," you stuttered with a shake of your head. "Third, actually. First when I came to check out the school and they happened to be in bloom. Then last year and now…now," you rattled off as you counted on your fingers the amount of times you had seen them.
"They must be something if people come all over just to see them. Don't really see myself traveling hundreds of miles away for something like it though," he confessed.
Bringing a closed fist to your lips, you chuckled at the statement. Leon didn't really strike you as the sit and look at the flowers type of guy. Whether it was because of the nature of his job or not, you didn't know, but he gave you that sort of vibe. Though you wouldn't be surprised if he ended up actually enjoying that sort of thing in a 'don't judge a book by its cover' type of way. He had already done so before.
"Something funny?" he asked with a grin. "Share with the class."
You shook your head 'no' and looked up at him with a soft smile. "No, no, I just think you'll be singing a different tune when you see them that's all."
"You think?"
"Mhmm, I don't wanna spoil anything," you replied, yet continued at his behest when he motioned to you to do so. "But today's honestly a perfect day to see them. Just something about being surrounded by those pink petals against the blue sky as a background that makes it look like a painting," you rambled, eyes bright as you describe the scenery with a dreamy look.
"And then you got people laughing, having a good time with all of that. And then the smell of flowers when the wind blows some of the petals off. Ugh, it's honestly a dream. Beautiful, really."
Halfway through your explanation of what he was missing, he couldn't help but be drawn in with the way you animatedly described the scenery. You look so alive as you spoke. Brightness in both your eyes and voice while you painted your own picture. And so when you finally finished, the word beautiful leaving your lips, he couldn't stop his roaming thoughts from landing on the words,
'You're beautiful.'
"Oh look!" you pointed out, snapping him out of the stupor your words had placed him in."We're here- Dear lord that's a lot of people!"
Turning to look in the same direction as you, the sight of hundreds of people bustling around the National Mall came into view. People of all ages were hanging out, some taking pictures of the blossoms that added a burst of color to the already colorful scenery, while others had picnics or were playing board games with friends.
It was absolutely lively, and honestly, it made Leon a bit nervous.
When you had invited him out, he had been hesitant due to the amount of people that would probably be crowded around the area, and he was right. Hell, he had even gone so far as to look up the mall area to see what the best way was to get you both away from the place if something were to happen.
Not that he was expecting it. But the nagging in his brain, which had no doubt come from the years of training and unwelcome surprises, kept bothering him until he had made multiple exit plans in case things went sour.
He was prepared, whether you knew it or not, but he preferred that you didn't have to, especially not with how ecstatic you looked and how he genuinely wanted to enjoy this date with you. And so far he had been, and he hoped you were too. So, doing his best to try to drown out the anxiety that lingered in his chest, he shot you a teasing grin before saying,
"I thought you said that was part of the charm of the experience though? You know the crowd and the noise."
That earned him a playful glare from you that shot straight through him, a warmth blooming in his chest as you gently pushed his forearm.
"Don't be such a smart ass!"
"Sorry sweetheart, it's the only type of ass I know how to be," he shot back effortlessly.
His eyes widened suddenly as his mind did a playback at what he just said to you.
Sweetheart.
The term rolled off his tongue with zero hesitation, and he wished he could swallow it the moment it did. Not because you weren't sweet, you were very much the definition of it. No, because it was so intimate. It was the pet name he secretly referred to you as in his mind whenever he spoke to you or saw you.
Because that was exactly what you were. But you two were friends, and that wasn't something just friends called one another. He winced, preparing himself for questions and confusion from your end. However, those things never did come.
What did come though, was a surprised chuckle escaping from your lips at his comeback, and the sound was just as beautiful to his ears as you were to him. Feeling his own face warm at the thought, he looked away from you for a second, trying to do anything to avoid the blush that was attempting to appear on his cheeks.
"Come on Leon!" you called out to him, already beelining for an area shaded by the cherry blossoms when he looked up. "Let's sit over there! I want you to try some of these snacks I brought!"
Holding up the basket to emphasize your statement, you continued to make your way over to the area, with Leon following close behind.
When you had found a not too busy spot, you plopped down the picnic basket and opened it up. On top of everything was a folded blanket, which you pulled out and began to spread on the grass that was dotted with pink petals.
"What's all this?" Leon asked as he set your other bag down near the base of the tree and began to help you straighten the blanket out.
"Thanks!" you said as you went to the basket and began to bring some of the snacks out that you had. "And this is a picnic blanket."
He rolled his eyes at your cheeky grin, and you feigned ignorance to the exasperated look he shot you while you sat down on the blanket. "Yeah, yeah I can see that," he deadpanned as he joined you on the blanket.
"Well I thought, it's gonna be such a nice day out, and since it's lunch time, why not have lunch out here," you explained as you began to pull food out of the basket. "I got us some egg sandwiches and some fruits since I feel like you would appreciate the protein and healthyish stuff," you rambled, placing said food containers on the blanket.
"Oh? Been checking me out have you?" he playfully asked, only to be met with you freezing for a second and looking at him with wide eyes.
Well, that wasn't the reaction he was expecting from you, but he didn't dislike it all as he watched you come back online and begin to stumble over your words as you continued unpacking. Albeit a little clumsier and faster this time.
"Ummm, umm nope not at all," you lied while pulling out some water bottles and then containers that looked to have some pastries in them.
"Just thought maybe you would want something else other than sweets, considering I did bring enough to feed a small village. Perks of working at a cafe? And you know your job is active, um not that you don't look good because you do but uhm I just-"
"I'm joking [Y/n] joking," he interrupted with a chuckle, sensing that you were trying to get yourself out of a hole but only digging yourself deeper with your ramblings. "For the record, you probably know I'd eat whatever you bring, especially if you're the one making it."
"Really?"
"Course, 's how we ended up meeting kinda right?" he pointed out rightfully.
You nodded in agreement. They did say the way to a man's heart was through their stomach.
"But also you didn't have to do all this," he continued, bringing a hand up to scratch the back of his head as an apologetic expression blanketed his features. "Feel kinda bad that I came empty handed."
"Don't worry about it! I'm just happy you made time for this with all your globetrotting," you waved off before you spoke a set of familiar words to him.
"And plus…I wanted to."
It was his turn to be caught off guard. His eyes widened for a split second before they softened as he watched you dig into the basket for something. Finding what you were looking for, a soft 'ah-ha' let your lips as you sat some napkins on the blanket before you looked up at Leon.
You hadn't been expecting to be met with such a warm expression being thrown in your direction, but when you saw it, an inaudible gasp left your lips.
Realizing he had been caught staring, Leon tried to come up with something witty to say in the moment to break the tension. But he found himself empty-handed; the proverbial filing cabinet of one-liners that he stored in his brain was currently locked, and you were holding the key.
Both of you were trying to find something to break the stalemate, but it wasn't words that ended up doing it instead, it was:
'GrrrRrrrrrgrrr!'
You both snapped out of the staring game that was being played, and your eyes both landed on the culprit.
Your stomach.
As if it knew it was finally being given attention, it once again began to speak.
'GrrggRrGggrrr!'
"Shhhh it's okay," you called out to it, which only caused Leon to laugh as you reassured it. "I'm about to feed you don't worry it's gonna be great."
"It better be or someone's gonna start complaining again," Leon pointed out, joining in on your conversation with your protesting stomach.
Letting out a short laugh, you nodded before gesturing to the food.
"Let's dig in shall well?"
"Tell me again why you didn't want to go to culinary school?" Leon asked as he bit into the strawberry creme pastries you had made that were absolutely delicious. "I mean not that you really need it because wow, but just curious that's all."
Taking a sip out of your water bottle, a thoughtful expression blanketed your features at his question before you answered.
"Never really wanted it as a career. This honestly," you explained, pointing between the two of you and then at the food, "this is what I like about doing it as a hobby, even though yes, I part-time at the cafe. Just makes me happy to feed my friends and see that they enjoy it. I'm a simple woman Leon."
"I'd have to disagree with the simple woman thing," he countered, taking another bite of the pastry before changing the subject momentarily. "By the way, this is delicious. It's the one that's being added to the menu right?"
Squinting your eyes to see what he was eating, and seeing the strawberry filling mixed with cream cheese in a pastry puff, you nodded.
"That's the one! You're the first to try it actually," you pointed out with a proud look. "Let me know if there's any tweaks you think need to be made to it. Still got some time before I finalize it with the kitchen."
He winked at you. "Yes ma'am."
A laugh escaped your lips as you looked down at your lap briefly before going back to the previous topic of you not being a simple woman.
"Also enlighten me about why you think I'm not simple."
With a nonchalant shrug, he explained his thought process.
"I mean nothing simple about someone who's working part-time at a cafe, doing a master's degree to become an archivist, and also doing a work-study at the Smithsonian," he pointed out. "Plus, you do other stuff outside of all that, hence this. So I think simple isn't really what I think of whenever I think about you."
Each thing on his list was true. You did juggle a lot of things, but each of them fulfilled you in different ways. It was a lot, and you sometimes wondered why you put yourself through some of the torture whenever deadline after deadline began to pile up. But you always found the reward of it all worth it.
However, it wasn't what he said about you juggling stuff that startled you, but what he had said after that, which had you blurting out,
"You think about me?"
Midway into taking the last bite of the pastry, Leon froze and looked at you, yet he didn't say anything at first. The only sounds to reach both of your ears now were those of park goers laughing and chatting loudly as they enjoyed the picturesque scenery of a spring day.
There was also the soft breeze that danced around the limbs of the cherry blossom tree, gently rustling the branches and scattering delicate pink petals onto whatever was beneath it. Which, was both of you in this case. Those sounds engulfed you both as you waited for an answer to a question you hadn't meant to ask. And you almost wanted to take it back.
Almost.
Did he mean it the way you thought he meant it? Did he think of you the way you thought of him? Unprompted and affectionately. Thinking about how it would be to spend more time with him just like this. Surely he just meant whenever you would text him and were top of mind because of that.
Right?
"All the time."
Wrong.
You blinked. Mind still trying to catch up and process what he had just said to you because you were still in disbelief.
He thought about you.
All the time.
"What?" you blurted out, fearing that you had misheard him, and praying you didn't because that would be far too embarrassing.
Seeing the shocked disbelief frozen on your expression, Leon chuckled and nodded. "I do think about you," he admitted once more, his voice low and his eyes squarely on you. "All the time."
Your heart leapt into your throat as a feeling of weakness overtook your limbs at his words. This couldn't be real. Leon Kennedy. The man you had been pining after for months thought of you.
Hopefully, there was a doctor nearby because your heart felt like it was about to burst, and you thought you might just pass out. Resisting the urge to do just that, you asked,
"Really…?"
He nodded.
"Admittedly 's not really the way I wanted to tell you," he chuckled, hand on the back of his neck. "But…after this…didn't really feel right to keep it to myself. Not anymore."
This was it. The moment that had scared you, yet also been what you had wanted. A moment where all the cards were on the table, and if you really wanted it, you would have to get out of your own head.
And you wanted it.
Wanted Leon.
So you did it. You slowly scooted over to Leon, who made some room next to him by moving some of the containers so you could sit. Once you were settled and closer, you took a breath, your heart pounding as you looked up to meet his steady gaze.
It was now or never.
"Can…Can I ask you something else then?"
He nodded. "Yeah course you can sweetheart I'm an open book."
Sweetheart.
There that word was again. You had ignored it earlier, trying not to get your hopes up in case it was a slip of the tongue. But here it was, showing its face again. And with the way Leon was looking at you, you knew it wasn't a mistake, which encouraged you even more to speak.
"Well that's good because I wanna make sure I'm reading the same page," you replied with a weak smile that he reciprocated with a slight grin.
"And what page would that be?"
"Well… I like this," you began as you motioned between the two of you. "And I really like you. And I think about you a lot…So…I just want to make sure I'm not getting this all twisted."
"Don't think you're getting anything twisted sweetheart," he answered as he gingerly wrapped his arm around your shoulder and watched for any reaction that may have signaled your discomfort.
When you didn't make a motion to move away from him, he relaxed, but not before reminding you that he was still waiting for a question.
"So is that the question or…?"
"Oh yeah no! I just wanted to know if we're… if we're dating or something?" you asked before looking at him with panic as you realized what you were saying. "I-I mean if we aren't that's fine! Just ignore this and we can forget it happened. But uhm yeah I just wanted to know what this is…"
"Well," he started, a thoughtful look in his eyes as he scanned the petal-covered picnic blanket, and returned his attention to the way you were leaning against his side. "Considering how this is all turning out, I think it's safe to say that this is very much a date. Unless you don't want it to be," he added.
"No!" you practically shouted, earning a chuckle from him as a bashful expression appeared on your face. "No- I mean yes, I want this to be a date oh my god Leon I sound deranged don't I?"
"Just a little," he teased, a smirk on his lips as you shoved him gently, earning a short chuckle. "I think you wanting to know exactly what we are is just a sign that you're going to be a great archivist when you graduate."
"What can I say, I need to know things," you sighed out as the pressure in your chest finally abated from the whole ordeal. "Um so that makes me your girlfriend right?"
He snorted at the question and was met with the cutest pout he had ever seen.
"Leoooon," you whined, earning another chuckle and a nod before he answered you.
"Sweetheart I'm a one lady type of guy, so I think it does make you my girlfriend."
You couldn't help the giggle you let out at his words, and you had to stop yourself from practically kicking your legs at the admission. Never in your short time on Earth did you ever think you would get so lucky to encounter someone like Leon. Not only that, but for him to also have the same feelings that you had for him. It was insane.
Yet, here you were, sitting underneath a blooming cherry blossom tree, being called his girlfriend and basking in the moment.
"Well good, now that we have that cleared up," he started, pulling you out of your thoughts as you felt his hand cup your cheek. "Can your boyfriend give you a kiss?" he asked, as your breath caught in the back of your throat at his proposal. "Been dying to since I picked you up and saw you in this pretty outfit."
A sound, almost akin to a whimper, left your lips, and you nodded immediately. "Yeah, yeah I would like that," you responded, only to add a little more nervously, "Oh but um just fyi, you're kinda my first…"
Leon paused, fingers lingering against your cheek as he looked at you with a questioning gaze, unsure what exactly you meant by that.
"First? Like first boyfriend? Kiss?"
Wringing your hands in your lap, you nodded, a nervous chuckle leaving your lips. "Both actually…know that might be a turn off but-"
You didn't get a chance to finish before Leon's fingers found your chin, and he was tilting your face up to look at him. When your eyes met his, the gasp you let out when you saw the look in his eyes was poorly hidden, and so was the way your thighs twitched.
Hungry. He looked so hungry, and the smirk on his lips had become predatory in a way that made your heart hammer against your chest.
"Sweetheart you don't know how much of a non-issue that is," he purred as his thumb stroked your lips that parted slightly at his touch. "Just means I can give you some lessons, that's all. Sound good?"
"Yeah," you answered breathlessly as a smile settled on your lips. "Think I can fit in some more lessons in my schedule."
He smirked, pressing his lips against your forehead and then moving down to kiss both of your cheeks, causing heat to bloom across your face.
"Can I?" he asked, his lips ghosting against yours while blue eyes searched your gaze for any hesitation, ready to back off at any sign of discomfort.
But there was no hint of discomfort, only yearning in your gaze and the way you scooted close to him.
"Yes."
His hungry smirk morphed into something softer as he leaned in, calloused hands angling your head gently as his lips brushed against yours. Already, your body was being consumed by a heat that had blossomed in your stomach before he had even really kissed you.
But now, as you felt his lips press against your, the heat had grown into a wildfire, and the only attempt to cool it was the muted moan that escaped your lips into his.
He was so warm. His lips were so warm, and you could still taste the lingering sweetness of the pastries on him as he sucked at the soft flesh of your bottom lip before kissing you again. The way he took his time savoring you, stroking your cheek as he guided you, made it feel as if he wanted to make sure the memory was seared into your mind.
And after this, there was no doubt that it hadn't been as you grasped his forearm for purchase, shivering a little as you felt the flex of his muscles under his shirt. If you could do this forever, have his lips on yours, tasting you, making your body want to be even closer than you were now, you would.
However, Leon seemed to have a different idea as he pulled away from you just as you began to sink against him. The movement had your eyes fluttering open, a hazy look in your eyes as you gazed at him with confusion.
"Leon?" you whimpered, your voice edging onto desperation as you scooted closer to him, almost ending up in his lap with how much you wanted to be near him. "Why'd you stop? I do something wrong? 'm sorry I-"
"Shh don't apologize sweetheart you didn't do anything wrong, doing it too damn good honestly," he praised, causing you to relax and smile at him. "No, I'm just thinking we might need to pack this up before someone calls the police on us for public indecency."
As soon as his words hit your ears, you sobered up almost immediately with the reminder that you were very much in public. A very busy public too, as it seemed that more people had come out to view the cherry blossoms.
"Whoops," you replied, the heat of the moment now being replaced with slight embarrassment at the thought of someone seeing you both making out. "Uh-uhm yeah I don't think either of us need that problem."
"Mhmm. How about we pack up, and I can take you home if you want?" he suggested, gaze still warm as he watched you scoot away for him to catch your breath.
Looking up at him, you nodded before asking, "Um can we…can we keep going when we get there?"
His breath hitched in his chest.
So this is how he would die. Not by being tossed around by some mutated bioweapons. But by you saying things like that while you looked up at him with hopeful eyes. He had to tamp down the urge to pull you into another searing kiss as he felt something stir beneath the surface. That something being more indecent than what you two had been up to.
Oh yeah, he was in trouble.
"Anything for you sweetheart," Leon finally managed to get out, earning him the sight of you practically dancing where you sat.
With that being settled, the two of you quickly cleared the feast from earlier, both eager to explore the newfound relationship somewhere more private. Once the blanket was clear of containers, Leon went to shake it, which caused a shower of pink to rain down upon you both.
The petals that had fallen onto the blanket throughout the outing now found themselves decorating you both. And what a sight it was for the two of you who found yourselves laughing about it years later at how cliché it had all been.
How a love that bloomed under the fleeting petals of a cherry blossom tree had endured for years after, and would endure for years to come.
A/N: IM NOT CRYING U ARE. I love these two soooo much dear lord 😭😭😭 Leon needs a soff but witty girl and imma give it to him. Also like?? Your first kiss ever being with Leon?? Like bye, I'm done for. Cooked.
Also yes I do have a sequel cooking up in my brain where he talks her through her first time 😃
Summary:
"Leon...I'm scared."
It was the three words that shattered him as he raced towards the home that you two had finally settled in. The sound of the muffled intruder alarm continued to go off in the background of the call as every scenario played through his head. You were in trouble, and he had made a promise to keep you safe in his vows.
But would he make it in time?

"L-Leon…Leon I'm scared."
"I know sweetheart I know. The cops are almost there and I'm on the way. Just stay where you are and do what I told you."
The line went silent, and his anxiety did the complete inverse.
"Sweetheart?"
"I-I love you Leon."
He gritted his teeth. The grip he had around the steering wheel tightened, and he slammed on the accelerator.
"I love you too [Y/n]. You're gonna be alright."
Fuck.
He should have been home. This would have never happened if he had had a normal work schedule and had been home with you already. And now you were alone. Hidden in a closet with a gun that you were terrified to use, and scared to death as someone beat at the front door in an attempt to break in.
None of this should have happened. He was supposed to keep you safe. It was in his vows to you the day you married him. That whatever madness he got dragged into, you wouldn't be pulled down as well. That was the promise he had made to you. And whether or not this was a random act, or something more sinister, you were in danger, and he wasn't there to keep you safe.
The tension in the car was suffocating as his mind spiraled down a path of increasingly worse case scenarios. Thought after thought of 'what-if' piled upon his psyche until he couldn't control the harsh exhale that escaped him before barking out a desperate,
"Fuck!"
It had started with him calling you that afternoon after he received word that he needed to assist with a recon assignment that was happening overseas. Had he not had plans with you that evening, he would have still been annoyed. But, knowing that he was going to have to ask you to reschedule your biweekly date for work, made him even more irritable.
Ironic that the reason you both had set the dates was because of the erratic work schedules you both shared. Who would have thought that you, a newly appointed archivist for the Smithsonian, would also have such an unpredictable schedule like his? Neither of you did, but you both worked it out, and it was a fulfilling career for you that made you happy, which in turn made Leon happy.
So when he called to deliver the news, a slight frown on his lips, he was relieved to hear your voice as it helped calm some of the annoyance simmering in his chest.
"My hero!" you chirped on the other line. "Wasn't expecting a call from you but glad you did when you did. Was just about to head out with Amara for lunch."
One leg crossed over the other, he leaned back against his chair and chuckled at your enthusiasm before greeting you, "Well hello to you too sweetheart. Sound like you're having a good day."
"Mhmm I am!" you replied with glee. "I'm talking to you, it's about to be lunch time and we're getting a new shipment of some fun exhibition items that I get to catalog when I get back," you listed off with a smile that he could feel radiating in his direction, even over the phone. "So, you could say I'm winning today."
"Definitely sounds like you're a winner, it's not even Friday yet. Maybe should play the lotto or something with the luck you're having?"
"And ruin my winning streak? Nuh-uh no thank you. Gotta keep it alive for our date night. The one in which I look forward to destroying you in whatever game we choose."
The smile on his face morphed into a grimace at your words as he was reminded why he had called you during the middle of the day.
"Sweetheart," he sighed, "that's actually kinda why I'm calling."
You went silent on the line for a second before you spoke with a more subdued tone than earlier.
"Don't tell me…my winning streak's already over isn't it?"
Another sigh as he nodded.
"Unfortunately. Got something that came up this evening, probably won't be making it back until later tonight."
A disappointed grumble could be heard from your side, and while he knew it was because his brain was being wholly unreasonable, it made him wonder if you regretted being with him. The number of times work had come between plans you two would make was not super egregious, but it also wasn't normal.
Sure, you had also had some conflicts with your job and school at times, but those were few and far between. And now that you had graduated from your master's program, it was definitely more him than you. Perks of how dynamic reporting directly to the president and dealing with bioweapon crises could be, he guessed.
Readying himself to listen to you voice your justified disappointment, as this hadn't been the first time he had to cancel on you, he was surprised (though he shouldn't have been) at your next question.
"Just for tonight right?"
"Huh?" he intoned, caught off guard by the question before answering, "yeah, just for tonight, not a boots on the ground type situation. Just doing some assisting with something."
Your soft hum filled the phone line for a moment as you thought, and it wasn't long before you spoke again.
"Well, as long as you're coming home tonight, I can't say no can I?"
"I mean you could say no."
"Really? Okay. Mr. President, if you're listening in on us right now, can you please let Leon skip the important assignment so me and him can play board games and have takeout tonight?" you asked half-jokingly, which caused Leon to let out a clipped laugh as he listened to your unexpected bargain. "I'll even let you touch the cool artifacts we're not supposed to let people touch at the exhibits."
Still in the midst of laughter, he shook his head, amused at your midday antics. "Didn't say it would work though," he chuckled, "but that is a sweet bargain if anything."
You sighed, "Darn!"
"I know, but I'll make it up to you sweetheart," he promised, amused yet still feeling guilty about the change in plans.
The sound of your giggles filled the line. It was shy, yet there was a mischievous undertone that was uniquely you as he waited for what you were about to come up with.
And he wasn't disappointed when you asked him in a low, borderline sultry tone, "Really? And how're you gonna do that, Mr. Kennedy?"
Warmth crawled up his spine as he flicked his eyes up to the open door of the temporary office he occupied whenever he was needed in-house. Across from him, there was an empty glass meeting room, and he could see people walking around on the other side. No one had really walked past the room he had been in since he entered, so he threw caution to the wind.
"Mmm, thinking about how I'll wake you up when I get home because I know for a fact you'll be sleep," he stated lowly so only you could hear him on the other end while he shifted in his chair. "Start with kissing that sweet face of yours that always twitches when you're having a good dream about me. Then kiss those pretty lips that always know what to say, and do."
He could hear your breath become slightly shallower, a quiet, "Leon," escaping your lips as he detailed what his plans were.
Enjoying the way he could hear your voice hitch, he continued, "Make my all the way down till I'm kissing those soft thighs that can't help but wrap around me when I'm treating my girl so good. Do it till you wake up for me all needy and asking for more. But because I'm making it up to you, I won't tease," he paused. "Well, not as much as I do usually. Sound good to you, Mrs. Kennedy?"
"Fuck me," you groaned breathlessly in a way where he could just see you squirming in your seat, while your cheeks got hot from his husky words.
Without missing a beat, Leon replied, "That's what I'm trying to do."
The squeal that came from your side of the line caused him to chuckle louder, and had he been in the same room as you, he would have seen you kicking your legs and hiding your face. It was a good thing you had your own private office so that no one could ask you what was wrong. That'd be embarrassing in its own right.
"Okay mister, I need to hang up now before you get me in trouble," you laughed, still warm and fuzzy inside from his words.
"What's life without a bit of trouble?" he teased, earning a sound of agreement from you. "I'll text you later, let you know when I'm on the way home."
"Mmm sounds good! Love you Leon!"
"Love you too sweetheart, be careful tell Amara I said hello."
"Will do bye!"
His lips were still turned upwards in a soft smile as he hung up. Your voice always did wonders to make him feel better, especially on days like this. It wasn't too often that he had to be in an office, but it still was a headache. Checking his watch and mentally listing out the tasks he needed to complete, he decided to have a quick lunch and try to get some of it done now, so he could leave shortly after the evening's assignment was completed.
It had been around 11 that night when he sent you the text that he was wrapping up for the evening and would be heading home soon. With it being late, and you having an early morning, which you always said was against your will, he hadn't expected you to respond to him. But you did, and it was a pleasant surprise for him as he watched the little bubble indication of you typing pop up after his first message.
Leon: ETA 1 hour
You: midnight? I might be passed out by then.
Leon: Surprised you're still up. Everything locked up?
You: ofc! also leftovers in the oven lasagna! poke me when you get home
Leon: Perfect. We'll see. Goodnight sweetheart love you.
You: love yoouuuu❤❤❤!
His lips twitched upwards at your message, and he couldn't help but wonder how he got so lucky with you. You had the patience of a saint when it came to him and his work, even when it caused disappointments, just like tonight.
Of course, you got upset about it sometimes; you were human, but you always told him it was never something you guys couldn't work out. That understanding streak of yours made him love you even more.
Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, his eyes flicked up to your contact picture momentarily and to your name in his phone: 'Sweetheart - [Y/n]'. The joy it brought him was immense, and the smile on his lips showed that as he took one more glance at your grinning face on his phone.
The faster he got the recon report done from that evening, the faster he could be back home. Maybe he would even have time to make it up to you, just like he had talked about earlier.
Locking the phone and flipping it face down, he was about to get to work, already opening the forms he was looking for, when his phone dinged with a notification. He ignored it at first and continued to work, but several seconds later, the sound of another notification on his phone filled the room.
And then another.
And another.
"What the hell?" he muttered as he picked the device up to check what all the commotion was.
It was from the front door camera he had installed before you both had moved in. Something was moving outside on the porch.
At 11 pm.
His mood shifted in an instant. Brows furrowed, and a frown etched on his lips, Leon unlocked his phone and went to check what was going on. When he opened the camera app, he felt his heart skip and then plummet straight to his stomach at the sight. One of his worst fears was coming true.
Outside, standing on the porch, were two people donning masks to obscure their faces. And…they were armed. That's what the notifications had been about. Before he could even say anything, Leon watched in what felt like slow motion one of the two bring their hand up to the camera before it went dark.
Fuck!
Out of his chair in an instant, your phone number was already illuminating his phone screen as he called, praying you hadn't gone to sleep yet or at least would wake up.
"Hunnigan! Send the police to my house now!"
"What's wrong?" she asked, eyes wide, startled by Leon's booming voice filling the once-silent room.
She watched as he bolted straight out of his temporary office and across the room, making a beeline towards the stairs as he wasn't about to waste time waiting for the notoriously slow elevator.
"People trying to break into the house, [Y/n]'s there I'm trying to get a hold of her now."
"Christ," she hissed, already connecting with operators. "I'm on it go!"
"Mmm hey baby com-"
"[Y/n] sweetheart I need you to listen to me okay? Can you do that for me?" he interrupted, and by the sound of his voice, something was wrong.
Very wrong.
You blinked; the drowsiness of almost falling asleep vanished in an instant at the urgency in his tone.
"Yeah-yeah of course. What's wrong?"
"There are some people outside right now, two by the looks of it that are trying to break in."
That got your attention as you sat straight up, adrenaline already beginning to kick in while you untangled yourself from the comfort of your blankets.
"What! Leon please tell me your -"
'BANG BANG BANG!'
A startled cry left your lips as you were interrupted by the sound of something downstairs shattering, and at the same moment, the alarm system began to blare. The sharp sound masked your cry, yet you still slapped your hand over your mouth, trying to keep in the scream that wanted to be let out.
"[Y/n] listen to me and do what I say," he commanded as he sprinted across the parking garage, making a beeline to his car. "Lock the bedroom door now!"
"I'm already going," you whimpered, having already jumped out of bed, practically running to the door and locking it.
Heart pounding so loud that you could hear it in your ears, you did your best listening to Leon guide you, while also trying to drown out the sound of the shrill alarm.
"Okay now I want you to go to the bathroom and lock that door, and then go into the closet. Can you do that?"
"Yes okay I've locked the door going to the closet now," you replied, your voice trembling as you felt your stomach flipping with anxiety. "This is so fucked Leon."
"I know sweetheart I'mma get you through this, not gonna let anything happen to you," he assured as he got in the car, already starting the engine and getting ready to peel out of the garage. "You in the closet?"
"Yeah locked it too," you replied.
"You're doing great, now listen to me, turn on the lights," he instructed, which you followed immediately. "I want you to open the safe box that's by my shoes, do you see it?"
Doing as he asked, you crouched down and reached for the metal safebox that he had shown you when you both had finished unpacking.
"Y-yeah I see it I got it."
"Good and you remember the code right, your birthday?"
The dopamine hit you had gotten when he had first told you that he used your birthday for the code had made your heart flutter. But in this moment, your heart was fluttering for a completely different reason. Nervousness, anxiety, fear. All of those words and more couldn't sum up the pure terror you felt coursing through your veins.
"Mhmm yeah I'm opening it now."
Typing in the digits as steadily as your trembling fingers could, the LED light on the lock blinked green before the lock on the box disengaged, allowing you to open it. Undoing the latch, you lifted the top to reveal its contents.
A sleek black and silver handgun that was sat in a cushion, and two preloaded magazines were next to it. Your breath hitched.
"L-Leon I don't, I don't know if I can," you whispered.
Target practice with him was one thing. Shooting makeshift marks and cans just so he could teach you the basics was no problem for you. Actually shooting someone. A real living, breathing person. That was something entirely different.
'Clang!'
The sound of something else downstairs being knocked over pierced through the sound of the shrill alarm, which caused you to jump and gasp.
"Sweetheart listen to me, listen," Leon urged, doing his best to calm you and walk you through the situation. "You have to do this please. Remember how I taught you right? Magazine in, feed it, safety off, aim and pull the trigger."
Your hands shook, and you felt your fingers tingle as you stared at the gun with uncertainty for a second more before finding some resolve.
"Yeah, yeah okay I remember, just h-hold-hold on."
Putting the phone down next to you, you picked up the weapon and did as he told you. With one magazine loaded and a bullet fed to the chamber, you put the other magazine in your pajama pants' pocket. Hopefully, you wouldn't have to use it, but the more the merrier you guessed.
"Mmmkay I did it," you confirmed as you picked up the phone from the ground and sandwiched it between your head and neck.
"Good now turn the light back off, and then I want you to hide where I told you to if anything like this happened."
"G-got it, I got it," you replied as you slid the box back where it had been with your foot and turned the light off.
Crossing the short distance to the other side of the walk-in closet, you stood in front of a built-in floor-length mirror that was pretty inconspicuous. You don't know why the words that came next left your mouth. Well, you did, as humor seemed to be the one thing that hadn't left you even in this situation.
"When I said this would be a sick spot for hide and seek," you whispered, opening the mirror to be met with darkness and an opening large enough for a person. "I mean like a non-lethal one. Not whatever this is."
You could swear you heard a huff tinged with amusement on the other end, and for however brief it was, you smiled as you practically threw yourself in the space and closed the 'door' behind you.
The space was dark, cramped, and unbelievably suffocating, which didn't help with you trying to slow your breathing. While you could still hear the alarm blaring outside, it was much more muffled than before. However, that heavy uneasiness in your stomach still grew as your hand tightened around the gun handle.
You guys had just moved in and finished unpacking last month, and now this. The best-case scenario was that the people who had broken in were just looking for valuables and nothing else.
Amateurs trying to make a quick buck.
The worst case…well…
A wave of nausea flooded your body at the grim thought that momentarily crossed your mind, and you couldn't hold back your soft cry of,
"L-Leon…Leon I'm scared."
Had you been on a video call with him, there would be no missing the way his face crumpled at your words.
"I know sweetheart, I know, the cops are on the way, and so am I okay?" he asked, trying his best to put on a reassuring tone. "Just stay where you are and do what I tell you. It's gonna be alright."
The silence that came from you caused his already frazzled nerves to worsen.
"Sweetheart you there?"
"Leon…," you sniffled. "I-I love you."
The finality in your words damn near made his heart stop.
There had been so many people in his life that he couldn't save. So many times where he wished he could go back, change what he had done, and save those people who had deserved another chance. Ever since Raccoon City, until now, the memory of the people he had lost still haunted him. An everlasting failure that he bore and tried to make right with his fight against the organizations that created bioweapons.
And now you. He couldn't lose you. Not like this.
"Fuck, sweetheart," he rasped, his voice thick with emotion that he tried to push down, knowing it wouldn't help the situation. "I love you too and you're gonna be alright. You trust me right?"
You answered without hesitation, "More than anything."
"My brave wife," he praised, knowing how terrified you were. "Sweetheart, listen to me, I'm going to go on mute now, and I want you to be as quiet as possible, got it?"
"Okay, got it."
"Good. You call to me if you need me, but if anything happens you do what you have to sweetheart," he said, his eyes flicking down to the navigation screen of the car and seeing he was getting close to the house. "I know you're scared but you're gonna get through this. I'm almost there."
"I will Leon," you answered softly, your tone full of desperation as you added one last thing.
"Hurry. Please."
He gassed it down the sparsely populated streets, a blessing and a curse of it being close to midnight. A blessing because he could race to you, a curse because if he had already been at home, this wouldn't have happened. With a shake of his head, he tried to push the thoughts aside. It didn't matter anymore. He was going to get to you. He had to.
That was a promise.
Furious didn't even come close to describing the expression that Leon's face was twisted into when he slammed the car door shut. Each step he took towards the house, now swarming with officers and blue lights, was heavy and filled with one purpose:
To get to you.
"Sir you can't-"
"It's my house."
The murderous and frankly seething stare in Leon's narrowed eyes as he spoke to the police shut the officer up immediately.
He looked like a man ready to commit a brutal murder. And had he been a crueler person who didn't value human life, he probably would have. When it came to you and your safety, his inhibitions were easily clouded, and he always had to work harder to keep them in check.
You were his priority.
So when his eyes fell upon the two men now sitting in the back of the police car, he felt his hands twitch. Hot rage pulsed through his veins, and there was this ringing in his ear that drowned all the chatter out from the officers who were there.
All of it was filtered out, except the two who had subjected you to those moments of terror earlier. So it was ironic, that it was also you, who kept him from ripping the car door open and pummeling them right where they sat.
"Leon!"
A watery cry, your watery cry, brought him out of the rage-induced fog in an instant as he turned to see you. Clad in your pajamas and slippers, you ran to him with outstretched arms and a relieved expression that instantly collapsed when you slammed into his chest and threw your arms around him to hug him.
Immediately, he was wrapping himself around you, squeezing you tight, and cradling your head into his shoulder as you let out a muted sob. You shook so hard against him that it felt like your bones would break from the release of adrenaline, and it was only Leon who was keeping you together in that moment.
"Oh sweetheart," he murmured, planting kiss after kiss on the top of your head as he tried to comfort you. "Fuck [Y/n] I should have been here, should have protected you."
"N-no it's okay you did protect me! I-I'm okay," you whimpered, yet you were still shaking, and your eyes were still shiny with tears as you looked up at him. "I'm okay."
"You call this okay?" he said, giving you a once-over to make sure you weren't physically hurt before looking at your tear-stained face. "You're fucking shaking."
You sniffled and shook your head at him, which only caused him to let out a raspy sigh. "Just the adrenaline wearing off, but I'm okay…I'm okay ," you whimpered, your voice cracking a bit before you took a deep breath in an effort to calm your frazzled nerves.
Everything was okay. Leon was here. The people who tried to break in were in handcuffs, and you didn't have to shoot anything. It was a win, yet your body was still having a hard time processing what the hell had just happened. Physically, you were okay, but mentally, you just kept repeating to yourself that you were okay like some kind of mantra. Maybe if you said it enough, it would calm you down…
"[Y/n] I'm-"
"Excuse me, Agent Kennedy."
About to apologize once more, Leon was interrupted when one of the officers on the scene came up to you. He hadn't meant to glare at the man, but he couldn't keep his emotions in check, and he saw the way the officer immediately froze at the hardened glare that was leveled at him.
"What?"
The officer gulped, visibly nervous as his eyes jumped between you and Leon, who had taken to holding you closer against him as you lifted your head to look at the officer as well.
"What?" Leon repeated, his voice edging between harsh and almost malicious.
He could feel your gaze on him, practically telling him that it was okay. But this time, he ignored it as his entire being was screaming to keep you safe. And even if the danger seemed to be gone, it was going to take a bit for him to come back down from what he saw as him failing you.
"I'm- I'm sorry to interrupt," the officer apologized with a stutter, clearly affected by the coldness he was receiving. "But we are going to need a statement from you as well. And um, considering the circumstances, there might be some other things that we need."
Ah, right, the circumstances.
Leon let out a humorless laugh.
"Right, circumstances yeah, give me as sec."
"Yes sir take your time," was the clipped reply, before the officer quickly put some distance between you both and himself.
You would have laughed at the scene had you not been so high-strung, but instead, you just shook your head and gave Leon a weak smile.
"He's just helping."
He huffed at the call out, answering you with a silent look of 'sure' before he wiped a tear away from your eye with his thumb.
"We're going to talk about this later," he muttered under his breath before pressing his lips against your forehead for a second. "Let me get this situated, sweetheart and then we are going to go stay elsewhere for tonight. Okay?"
There was no room for argument in his tone and in his stern gaze. But you had no intention of doing so and nodded.
"Okay, but I wanna come with you to talk to them."
He hesitated before giving you a curt nod. Unwinding you from his arms, he instead took you by the hand and pulled you close to his side as you both went to speak to the officers who were waiting near the front door.
The good news.
After running a database search on her end at Leon's request, Hunnigan had confirmed that the two men were just normal assholes. They weren't associated with any bio-organization or entity that Leon had pissed off in his past 20-some years of ass-kicking, which was great. Maybe they were part of some new up and coming one, but with the way everything had happened, it was too sloppy for something like that.
The relief was palpable when he learned that. His shoulders, which had been practically up to his ears with tension, finally relaxed. And you were glad, because you had joked that if he kept it up, they would look like Nosferatu's. It was funny to you, but he just stared at you with those piercing blue eyes and a tight frown that had you hiding under the hotel bed's blankets.
Had you not been as exhausted physically and emotionally, you would have said something flirty about the way his back and shoulder muscles rippled as he sat on the edge of the bed. However, you were, and honestly, you just wanted to talk to him as you watched him rest his head between his hands.
Now for the bad news, which was lightly putting it.
The guilt.
Specifically, Leon's guilt.
You could tell he blamed himself for your predicament. He was always hard on himself about things like this, even if it wasn't his fault. Even if he had done his very best and given everything he could. He would still blame himself if there was a poor outcome.
Just like Raccoon City. Just like the men he lost in D.C. Just like this.
It hurt. It always did to see someone who always did everything they could, feel as if they failed somehow when it wasn't true. So here you were now, crawling over to him, your knees and hands sinking into the mattress beneath you as you closed the short distance between the two of you. Once behind him, you sat down and crossed your legs.
"It's me," you whispered, alerting him that you were there before you hugged him from behind and placed your head on his shoulder. "Everything okay?"
It took him a second to answer, but when he did, it was with a clipped, "Mhmm." And he was silent again.
That's how you both stayed for a bit, you hugging him from behind, occasionally kissing his shoulders before resting your head against him. You could feel when he inhaled and exhaled, his body moving up and down just slightly as he did so. The only sounds in the room were the intermingling of your breaths and the faint noise of an occasional car passing outside.
It was soothing somehow, and just the type of calm you needed after what had happened. The drowsiness that had been creeping up since you both had arrived at the hotel around a quarter till 2 in the morning seemed to be exacerbated as well. You could fall asleep just like this. Arms wrapped around your husband's waist, head resting on his back as you both just sat with each other.
"Sweetheart."
"Hmm?" you hummed, eyes already closed even though you hadn't even noticed.
There was silence again before he spoke. His voice was low, gravelly, barely above a whisper.
"I'm sorry."
Your eyes fluttered open at his words, and you blinked as they adjusted to the warm lighting in the room.
"Nothing to be sorry about Leon," you murmured against his skin before propping your chin on his shoulder. "You kept me safe. Talked me through everything. You did what you could for me at that mom-"
"But I wasn't there," he interrupted, turning his head slightly to the side to look at you with cloudy blue eyes that held a world of regrets in them. "I should have been home with you tonight. What would have happened if I didn't check my phone? What if-"
"Stop."
He froze. Looked at you with a questioning gaze as you unwrapped yourself around him and shuffled about so that you could sit next to him. Once settled, you turned to him, a sleepy smile on your lips and your arms stretched wide open, a silent invitation to come close.
Hesitation was written all over his features as he looked at you, but it didn't last long as he scooted over and wrapped his arms around you, bringing you into a hug that was absolutely relaxing.
Your body melted against his as you threw your arms around his neck and nuzzled his cheek, and you could feel him doing the same. You felt so safe in his arms, and it broke your heart that he felt guilty about not being with you. But he couldn't always be with you; you both knew that, that's why he had taught you all these steps. So to see him beat himself up, it made your heart ache.
"You know you're my hero right?" you murmured, running your fingers through thick brown hair that had a few strands of grey beginning to peek through. "You've taught me so much. Made sure I knew what I had to do if anything ever happened. Because we both know you can't always be there with me, right?"
It took him a second to answer, but when he did, it was with a short, "I know."
You hummed, not truly convinced that he really knew, but you also wouldn't force anything out of him. Doing that was a losing game, and you knew Leon. When he got like this, it was hard to get him to tell you things. So you would wait until he was ready to let you know what was on his mind.
He always did, and he had been getting better at telling you sooner than later the longer you had been with him. So you decided you wouldn't push it tonight. It had been a long day. You were exhausted, and you sure as hell knew Leon was as well, even if he tried to hide it.
"If you know, then promise me you won't beat yourself up anymore baby. Whether you believe it or not, you protected me Leon, and I'm okay. We are okay."
There was silence from his end for a moment, a little sniffle here, and a sigh there, but no words. Not that there was any need for them at this point. Both of you sat quietly for a bit longer before Leon was unwrapping himself from you, and you from him, so you both could face each other.
"You always know what to say to make me get my shit together, you know that right?"
A grin appeared on your lips, and you shook your head. "Well someone's gotta keep the great agent Kennedy in check," you responded as you went to stroke his cheek, his stubble raking against your palm, which tickled you. "It's why you married me."
He gave you a thoughtful look and nodded. "Yeah…and you make some of the best pastries that I've ever had, so that's a plus too."
A clipped humorless laugh escaped your lips, and you rolled your eyes at him. Bumping his shoulder with your own, you looked up at him and snarked,
"Men."
He didn't miss a beat.
"Women."
There your Leon was.
"You love this one though right?"
A smirk played at his lips as he moved his face closer to yours, noses brushing affectionately as you continued to stroke his cheek.
"You know I do sweetheart," he answered softly, his voice gravely and close to a growl when he spoke again. "Damn near strangled those men when I saw them in cuffs. Wanted to make sure they couldn't do what they did to anyone else."
"Mmm glad you didn't though," you hummed, tilting your face a little so your lips brushed against his briefly. "Don't need you catching a charge for me."
"Do more than that for you."
The protectiveness in his voice made you shudder. Your skin pebbled instantly with goosebumps, and the hairs on your arms stood up as you instinctively closed the space between you both.
"I know Leon, I know," you answered in a hushed whisper, before you leaned forward and captured his lips in a passionate yet tender kiss.
A throaty groan left him as he cupped the back of your head and pulled you close to him to deepen the kiss. Your chest brushed against his, and when you felt his arm wrap around your waist, you couldn't stop the moan that flitted from your lips to his. He felt so good against you, so solid and steady, and you couldn't help that your eyes were fighting to stay open as you kissed him.
"L-Leon," you panted, your damp lips escaping his for only a moment before your hands were around his neck, and you found yourself tasting him again.
He hummed as his free hand found your lower back and began to rub circles against it, causing you to try to cuddle closer to him. Your noses bumped a bit whenever you tilted your head, and you would giggle before those sounds morphed back into moans.
With each passing moment of his lips on yours, you felt your eyes grow heavy, intoxicated by Leon and the way he held you. But also, by the last bits of adrenaline that had finally begun to release its grip on you, and in turn caused your body to begin to shut down.
This went on for a bit before what started off as a flurry of motion, simmered down as your kisses slowed, and your noises also died down. Not only that, your eyes had closed at some point and hadn't opened again until Leon pulled away from you, which made you let out a weak noise of protest.
"Hey sweetheart," he panted lowly, thumbing your already swollen lips as he looked at your lidded eyes that seemed to be having a hard time staying open. "Still with me?"
You giggled. It was airy and sleepy, but it was definitely a giggle as you looked at him with what he could only describe as a dopey ass smile. God he looked so good. And god you wanted more, but also, you didn't know if you could stay awake much longer.
"Hanging on by a-" you were interrupted by a surprise yawn that made your cheeks ache at the stretch. It lasted for a few seconds before you closed your mouth with a smack of your lips and smiled.
"Thread."
A short laugh left his lips, and he could only shake his head at you while you stared at him with your dopey smile. What was he going to do with you?
"C'mere sleepy head."
Arms wrapped around you still, he pushed the duvet covers down, and after a bit of maneuvering, which was accompanied by your weak protests, he had somehow gotten you both in bed. Situating you against his chest, he reached over you and pulled the duvet over the two of you, cocooning you both in softness. A big yawn forced its way between your lips as you tangled your legs around his.
"Mm sorry, think everything's finally caught up."
"Don't be sweetheart, my wife needs her rest, right, Mrs. Kennedy?"
"Mhmm! You got that right Mr. Kennedy," you giggled a bit, delirium setting in, but you still had things to say to him. "Don't--" Yawn "don't forget though," you murmured. "Gotta make it up to me."
"You drive a hard bargain even when you're halfway to lala land," Leon teased, his arm wrapped around your shoulder while he looked down at you. "Don't worry sweetheart, plan on making it up to you when you're not close to passing out.
A sleepy smile found its way on your lips, and you gave him a thumbs up before your eyes closed once more.
"What can I say? I--" Yawn " I…I."
You couldn't even finish your sentence before your body just decided it was time, and you were out. Leon tried not to chuckle too hard as he watched you fall asleep so suddenly. Had it been a normal day, he would have worried, but after everything that had gone on, it was a surprise that you hadn't passed out the moment you had gotten in bed.
"Love you sweetheart," he murmured against your head, planting a kiss on top of it and scooting you close to him.
"Sweet dreams."
And sweet they were.
Especially, when you woke up the next morning to find the sweet dream to not be a dream at all, as Leon fulfilled his promise of making it up to you.
A/N: I love them your honor. And also you know Leon doesn't think he's a hero but reader is like stfu u are and i shall always call you that 🥺🥺 and he likes it. I also have more cooking up for them that's actual pure fluff and smut but gotta get this angst out my system.
okay let me know if you like it (do scream at me please it helps with morale!)
Leon's work as a DSO agent was dangerous, and you knew that. It was an acknowledged truth that it was only a matter of time before something put him out of commission for a while, or even worse. Still, it didn't stop either of you from marrying and starting a life with one another. However, when time finally runs out, you wonder if it had all been worth it.

It was only a matter of time before something like this would happen. You both acknowledged it the moment dinner dates morphed into week-long stays at one another's. Those stays then became you moving in with him, and then finally marrying him after he had proposed on his return from another grueling assignment. One in which you didn't know whether he would be coming home.
You knew what he did was dangerous. Knew that at any moment there could be a knock at the door with someone from the DSO waiting to tell you that he wouldn't be coming back.
Yet, when he slipped that ring on your finger, you knew that none of it mattered. If that bridge were ever crossed, you would deal with it then. For now, what mattered most was that he did come back to you.
No matter the time, he was pulled away. Whether it be a scheduled assignment or an emergency one that had him rushing out of the house before the sun was on the horizon, you were there for him. A soft kiss, a tight hug, and words that you tried to mask your heartache with.
"Come home safe."
You tried not to cry. Only being strong until the door closed behind him because you loathe to make it harder for him to leave when it was already difficult for him to do so. Only then would you let a few silent tears fall before doing everything you could to keep your mind from going to the 'what if'.
But, each time he did come home. Even if he was littered with bruises and new scars, both large and small. Some physical, while others manifested as nightmares that had him jolting awake at night and waking you up in the process.
"Sorry sweetheart I'm alright. Go back to bed."
Each time he would tell you that, and each time you would shake your head 'no', opting instead to stay up with him. Sometimes you would both lie in silence as you listened to his erratic breathing become steady after a while. His tight grip around your waist loosening just a smidge, but not completely, as he finally fell back into a hopefully restful slumber that would not be wracked with nightmares of people he couldn't save.
Other times though, when it was truly a bad one, ones that had him shouting and thrashing with eyes wide open yet still half asleep, all you could do was shake him and call out to him in an attempt to wake him up.
Over and over you would call to him until his movements slowed and his unfocused eyes would finally recognize you. A shudder would run through him as he took a deep breath, and slowly he would sit up. The pace was always so strange because it was unlike him. He was a trained agent. Athletic as hell. And to see him so broken in those moments, it hurt you more than anything.
"F-fuck, I'm so sorry sweetheart, I'm so sorry. Didn't mean to hurt you if I did."
He would apologize, his voice raspy and low, as he choked out his words, and you could tell he was trying not to succumb to his emotions. All you could do then was to hold him and stroke his hair in hopes of comforting him while reassuring him.
"Shh, you're alright Leon. Didn't hurt me baby, we're all right. You're alright."
You knew he felt guilty; it was written all over his face, but you never blamed him. Never got angry at him for waking you up because at least he was home.
Leon always came home to you.
Until one day, he didn't.
You had always wondered how you would react to the news. Call it morbid curiosity on your end, but it was something that had briefly popped up in your mind one day when an unfamiliar black car had pulled up into the driveway when Leon was away on assignment.
It would be a lie if you said your heart didn't find its way to your throat when a sharply dressed man with tinted sunglasses stepped out of the car. He was dressed for business, and you dreaded the business that he had come for.
In the end though, it turned out that the man, who was a new reporter for the White House press pool, had simply gotten lost on his way to a rental property. After letting him know that he was a block away from the correct address, you waved him off, yet the dread in your stomach lingered until Leon had come home that early that evening. Exhausted, but always happy to see you.
So when that knock finally came, it had come when he had been gone for a week on assignment. You hadn't heard from him the entire time, and while that wasn't unusual, there was this uneasiness you had felt. It was different than the normal anxiety you would have when he was gone, so instead of letting it eat you alive, you decided you needed a distraction.
And what better distraction than having an afternoon with your girls?
"Ugh! It's been way too long since we gotten to hang like this," Amara, one of your oldest friends, sighed as she plopped down next to you on the sofa, a wine glass in her hand and the remote she had grabbed from the TV console in the other.
Agreeing with her, Sasha, your other friend, groaned and nodded as she sank further into the loveseat across from you and Amara.
"Yeah no this capitalism thing is a 0 out of 10 for me. I'm still holding out hope that my parents are actually rich as hell and are keeping it from me, but, it's not looking good team."
"I'm pretty sure they're the ones holding out hope that you're gonna be making all the money with your fancy new job at the Justice Department," you grinned as you lightly clapped your hand and was joined by Amara, who let out a 'whoop whoop'. "Congrats again by the way, Ms. Assistant United States Attorney."
"Oh my god guys please no let's not talk about that," she groaned, flopping her head back against the seat. "Plus I'm only a baby assistant attorney, which just means I get to do all the filings and research. It's very exciting," she finished, sarcasm dripping from her lips.
"Okay but still it's a sweet ass gig," Amara said as you nodded in agreement. "You're gonna be a baddie catching baddies, and that, is pretty cool and what you deserve after the run around that law firm you were working for were giving you!"
"Yeah fuck those guys! They were assholes making you do all the work and not giving you a bit of credit," you huffed, thinking about all the times she had complained to you all about the boss being a sleaze and dumping things on her at the last minute. "Bet they aren't gonna last long without you."
Sasha shrugged. "Well what can I say, other than fuck 'em."
"Yeah fuck 'em!" Amara shouted, which you enthusiastically agreed with as you joined with her to slag off Sasha's old employers.
Suddenly, all three of you were chanting it, and if someone passed by outside, they would probably be confused by the sound coming from the house. But you all were having too much fun to care, as three of you burst into fits of laughter at the antics.
"Jesus Christ I needed this," you giggled, a light cough escaping your lips as you tried to catch your breath from all the laughter.
Hugging you, Amara pressed her cheek against yours."Glad we can entertain you in your time of need [Y/n]. That's what friends are for~" she finished, singing that last sentence before letting you go.
"Shame, she only invites us over when her mans isn't here. It's like we're just a booty call," Sasha sighed dramatically as she placed the back of her palm against her forehead, as if she were a fainting heroine from an old-school movie.
Heat rushed to your cheeks at her comment, and you pouted. "Hey!" you whined, "that's not true! I always invite you guys to go out when Leon's home."
"Yeah out! But not here," Amara specified with a grin as Sasha agreed with a 'mm-hm'. "But it's okay we forgive you. We know it's so that we don't have to witness you and Leon suck faces like the in-love married couple you are."
You let out the loudest groan as Sasha cackled in the background, and you could only hide your face in your hands.
"Can't believe I invited you guys over for moral support and now I'm being attacked in my own house."
"At least it's a nice house," Sasha chirped.
Thinking you were going to be tormented more by your friends, you were thankfully saved by the sound of the bell. The doorbell, to be more specific, the sound of it ringing throughout the house.
"Oh thank god I'm saved by pizza delivery," you cheered, head perking up as you jumped up from the couch. "I'll go get it!"
"Look!" Sasha pointed out as you scrambled away. "She's trying to escape us again!"
"Even after I defended you! The betrayal!" Amara gasped.
"Sorry my friends, unfortunately, my one true love is pizza and its siren's call beckons me," you laughed.
"We'll be sure to tell Leon that!" Sasha called out to you as you left the room, laughing and shaking your head.
Amused by your friend's antics, you didn't even bother to look through the peephole of the door, as you expected it to be the food delivery person. Grin still plastered on your face, you unlocked the door before swinging it open to greet the person with an apology for keeping them waiting.
"Hey sorry-"
The last syllables caught in your throat, and your hand tightened around the doorknob at who was supposed to be the delivery person. However, standing on your porch was not the delivery person dressed in their delivery uniform.
Instead, you were met with a man dressed in a suit and tie, a somber look on his features as his lips were drawn into a thin line. And beside him, someone who you hadn't been expecting but looking as equally somber was Chris Redfield, your husband's friend and at times colleague whenever they crossed paths.
Was it odd that the first thought that came to mind was that this was the first time you had seen Chris in uniform? Or had it just been a way to keep yourself from crumpling immediately as you looked at him with a dazed and confused expression?
"C-Chris what's going on?" you asked as your eyes flitted between the two men who stood on your porch.
It wasn't Chris who answered, though; instead, the man who was with him began to speak.
"Good afternoon, are you Mrs. [Y/n] Kennedy, wife of Leon Kennedy?"
"Y-yes," you stuttered, as you looked at him, your stomach churning and tightening as he spoke.
"Mrs. Kennedy, my name is Agent Ryan Wicker from the Division of Security Operations," he introduced steadily. "By the command of the President of the United States, I have been entrusted to express his deepest regret-"
Anything that was said next was a blur, muted out. You could see the man's lips move, but everything that was said fell on deaf ears.
It was only a matter of time. You knew it, he knew it, yet it didn't stop you both from trying to build a life with one another. And it had been working. Not smoothly, no, there would always be bumps, but you both were happy together.
"You're gonna miss me when I'm gone sweetheart!"
He would always joke like that with you whenever you would shoo him out of your office at home, or if he was distracting you while doing something around the house. But even if it was a joke, deep down you knew it was true.
Then one day he had said it, and you didn't know what had come over you, but the thought of him leaving you, and never coming back. It made you burst into tears. After that, he tried not to say it so often, seeing how it affected you.
So now here it was. The moment that kept you up at night sometimes when he wasn't home. It was only a matter of time, and you knew it.
And so. You screamed.
Never in your life had you screamed so loudly. The sound was raw and sharp like someone had stabbed you, because that's exactly what had happened. The sound came from the depths of you that you had no idea existed until now, and you couldn't stop it. No matter how much you wanted to, there was no way to stop the strangled sound that was ripped from you, just as Leon had been ripped from you.
"[Y/n]!"
The call of your name was muffled by another wail that tore through you as your legs gave out from underneath you. It was like you had used up all your strength in that single moment, and if it wasn't for Chris, who lunged at you and caught you, you would have surely collapsed on the ground.
But it didn't stop you from sobbing. From screaming and thrashing, against firm arms that tried to hold you and keep you from hurting yourself. But you didn't care. You would do anything to feel something other than the terrible burning pressure that radiated through your chest.
You wanted to claw yourself open, alleviate that pain that was suffocating you as you thrashed around helplessly.
"No! No! No! Let me go- Let me go!" you screeched, trying to push away from Chris. But you were no match for him as he tried his best to keep you calm.
There were hurried footsteps from behind you, and gasps that were barely audible through your sobs and wails as you hit Chris' chest over and over. Your sobs of 'why' filled the hallway. Yet there was no answer.
No one said anything. The only sound in the house was of you. Because what could you really say to someone who had just lost the love of their life?
Empty.
It was the only thing that could describe the heavy pit in your chest ever since that day. Everything had been a blur after you were told what had happened to Leon.
You barely remembered anything. Other than calling your parents and telling them the news, nothing else had been clear. Even the time between the call and their arrival was hazy. All you remembered was sitting and staring into space, your friends and Chris not leaving your side until your parents had arrived. When they did, you only remembered how you crumpled into their arms, another sob being pulled from your lips as you sought comfort from them.
Each day afterwards felt the exact same. If you weren't weeping, calling out for Leon as you damped the pillow on the side of his bed, the one where his scent lingered, you were asleep, or staring off into the distance. You barely ate, barely drank, only doing so at the behest of your parents, who watched over you throughout the days leading up to the funeral.
Truthfully, they hadn't particularly cared for Leon when they first met him. Leon was older than you, a fact that had your father narrowing his eyes, no doubt thinking that Leon was taking advantage of you, which was far from the truth. And it hadn't helped that their first impression of him was him bailing out during the middle of dinner with them due to an urgent assignment.
When they asked you about it, all you could do was shrug and say it was classified work for the federal government that you didn't even know a lot about. The latter part of it was a lie. You knew well what Leon did, but you didn't want to let your parents know, as they would likely freak out, and rightfully so.
That secrecy didn't put them at ease, nor did it get any better when you had to stop them from uploading a picture you had all taken at a family gathering online. It had gotten you an earful from your mom, who was frustrated about the whole situation.
"I just don't like how secretive this all is [Y/n]! We can't even take pictures now? What kind of work is he mixed up in that we can't even share photos of our daughter and her boyfriend?"
"Mom please! It's to protect us. To protect me. Leon's already in a tough position and I don't want to make it any harder on him. So if he says no pictures of us online then no pictures!"
You had somehow gotten your way that day, but you knew this was difficult for them, and Leon could tell there was a rift growing between your parents and you. He hated that he was the cause of it, but you were always there to reassure him that you would work it out with your parents. That they just needed some time to adjust to this, and it would be fine. As long as he came back home to you, you were happy.
It hadn't stopped him from trying to make amends with them though. And the effort had seemed to be enough in their eyes because in the end, he had grown on them. They saw the way he treated you when they came for their visits, sometimes caught him looking at you with adoration when he thought no one was looking, and whenever you talked about him, you would light up, your eyes would shine, and your voice would take on a more cheerful note.
You were a new person with him, and you felt like a better version of yourself with his support. If you were happy and safe, there wasn't much else they could say.
So the devastation, the hollowness you felt inside, it was more than expected. While you had only been together for a couple of years, the love you both shared for one another ran deep. You were with him during his darkest times, times when he thought it would be better if he didn't wake up from an alcohol induced blackout. Times when the pain was so bad, when the anger and despair were so suffocating that it felt like he couldn't breathe.
You were there for all of it. For his bad days and his worst days, but you were always ready to pick him up and bring him back from the brink of it all. Never judging and always understanding. And for that, the love he gave you in return could only be described as all-consuming. He made you feel protected, cared for like no other, and made you feel like you were the only thing that mattered. That everything dangerous thing he found himself doing was to keep you safe, and in a way, it was true.
Yet when you and your mother, who wanted to come for support, finally reached the room where his closed casket lay, you wondered briefly to yourself if it had all been worth it. Especially when you asked the uniformed soldier who was standing watch over Leon if you could view the body.
"C-can I see him? I…I can see him right?" you had asked, unsure of how all this was supposed to work as you looked at the American flag draped on top of the casket.
"I'm sorry ma'am, but under the circumstances, we've been asked to not allow you to open it."
What? Wasn't it protocol to allow the family to view the body?
"Why?"
Your fingers that had unconsciously begun to stroke the cold edge of the casket froze as you looked up at the service member who had been tasked to stand guard. The man, who couldn't have even been in his mid-thirties, shifted in place, a look of discomfort shown on his face as his hands balled into loose fists.
"Why?" you asked once more, your voice more forceful than it had been in days. Yet there was a hint of trepidation in your tone as your fingers gripped the edge of the casket and your eyes began to burn.
"Out of respect to Mr. Kennedy and you ma'am," he answered. "We…we believe it's better that you remember him at his best and not..."
Looking away from you and your mother, he took a deep breath and straightened his posture as if he needed to steel himself for the words that he was about to say. His gaze fell back on you both before he spoke the words that sent you into another spiral.
"Not as he is now."
All you remembered over your sharp wails was the question that you kept asking over and over as your mom's arms wrapped around you tightly as you shook. She was doing her very best to keep you from breaking into pieces as you slid down the ground, blinded by tears, anguish, and resentment.
What kind of hell had they put him through before they killed him that you couldn't see him?
What had they done to him? What had they done to your Leon?
Why? Why him? You hated it. You hated it all. Wanted it all to just disappear. You wanted to disappear.
But deep down in your heart, the one that was broken into microscopic pieces, you knew he would never want that. Everything he did was to keep you safe, and to throw that away? You could never.
So now here you were. Standing in silence at the front of the small outdoor service as uniformed members of the armed forces shot off one last round in honor of the fallen. You had few words and fewer tears to shed. Every single one of those things had been used up in those first whirlwind days of grief.
You were sure afterwards though, when his body was in the ground, and it hit you again, it would start all over again. But right now, as you stood holding the folded flag you had been presented in his honor, you just stared.
Surrounded by your family, friends, and friends of Leon, you just stared as they lowered his casket. Lowered the love of your life into the ground where he would rest from now on.
There would be no more nightmares, no more waking up in the middle of the night thrashing, shouting, reliving the horrors he had faced. He wouldn't be in any more pain, wouldn't have to go on assignments that left him in a semi-dissociative state for a few days when he returned home. All of that was over.
And you hoped silently as you squeezed the folded flag that he would be able to finally find rest. Even if it killed you inside that he was no longer here, maybe at least Leon could rest.
Those were the thoughts that had you breaking down again, sobbing harshly in the back of the car that drove you away from the burial site.
Three months.
That's how long he had been 'dead' for.
How long it had taken him and Hunnigan to track and bring down the leaders of another shadow bio-weapons organization that had it out for him and any other DSO agent who tried to stop them. They hadn't stopped at just the agents themselves this time though. Family, friends, acquaintances, anyone who associated themselves with an agent had not been safe.
The message was clear: stop meddling, or the people you loved would be next.
While he hadn't yet registered that you were his spouse in the DSO database as per protocol due to fear of something like this, he knew it was only a matter of time before they found out. But, if he were dead, there would be no reason to go after you and your family.
You would be safe.
The decision to fake his death had been one of the hardest yet simultaneously easiest decisions in Leon's life. He unfortunately had a trial run at it after the incident with President Benford, and even if it ended with him actually being killed this time, at least he knew the most precious thing in his life would be safe from being hunted down. If anything happened to you, he would have been as good as dead anyway.
"Sure we don't need to send an ambulance behind you in case she has a heart attack when she sees you?" Hunnigan asked as Leon threw the mission report down on her desk before spinning around to hightail it out of the building.
Stopping mid-stride, he turned in her direction and answered with a dry, "Yeah sure, but it's more than likely going to be for me when she beats me to death when she finds out I'm still alive."
"Wow, who would have thought it'd be your wife rather than a bio-weapon being the thing that finally takes you out," she replied with an amused tone, which only made Leon roll his eyes before turning back around. "Well good luck and see you Monday!'
"Hell no I'm on vacation for the next month. Phone's gonna be off, so don't even try to call," he replied, not wanting for her to respond as he quickly made his way to the parking garage, eager to see you again.
Though with each moment he got closer to home, the more and more he began to feel nervous. What were you going to do when you saw him? What was he going to say to you for putting you through something so traumatic, only to pop up alive and fine.
Well, mostly fine that is, as there were plenty of nasty falls and wounds he endured during those three months away. Those could be bandaged up though, and would heal in time. However, he couldn't imagine the suffering you were going through thinking he was dead. And he was the one who put you through it.
Another weary sigh, one laced with guilt, left his lips as he pulled up into the shared driveway. He knew he would do anything to make it right. Whether it be letting you scream and hit him, or even telling him to leave, he wouldn't protest, and he sure as hell couldn't be angry.
But as he parked the car and hopped out of it, none of that really mattered. Because as he darted up the stairs that led to the porch, skipping a few of them in his haste, all he knew was that he was relieved to be home.
Relieved to see you again.
Fumbling with his keys like a man who didn't have the insane amount of dexterity that he had, he finally found the silver house key out of the few keys he had. Key inserted into the lock, he twisted it, ready to open the door and walk inside and scoop you up if you allowed him to.
'Click.'
The key didn't budge.
"Huh?"
He tried again to turn the key.
'Click.'
Again, the lock didn't budge, and all he felt was resistance as he tried to turn the key once more. It took him a moment before he realised what was happening.
"She changed the lock," he murmured to himself. A tiny smirk grew on his lips right before he praised you, "That's my wife."
This was going to be even more awkward than originally planned, he thought as he took a deep breath before knocking on the door to their home and then going to ring the doorbell once.
At first, there was no answer, and the thought of just breaking in crossed his mind, but he quickly thought better of it as there were less intrusive ways to get into the house. He didn't want you to come back thinking a burglary had happened; he already had enough strikes against him.
However, just as he was about to knock again, he heard a shuffling on the other side of the door before the sound of the bolt lock disengaging met his ears. And then, the door opened, and with it was you standing on the other side, yawning and rubbing your eyes.
"Hey you're early-"
The words on your lips died immediately as you got a clearer look at who you thought were supposed to be your friends, who had planned to come for a brunch visit.
Immediately, a hose of thoughts rushed through your head as you stared at the man that you believed you had buried three months ago.
Were you still dreaming? Maybe the antidepressants that your therapist had prescribed to you were causing you to hallucinate? Or maybe the sleeping meds? Because there was no way Leon, your husband, the love of your life, was standing in the doorway.
You had buried him. None of that had been a dream. It had been real. You saw the casket, saw the dirt being tossed on top of it. Visited his grave daily. He was dead?
Right?
So why was he here right now? Standing in front of you and very much alive.
He could practically see the many thoughts swirling in your head. So before you got too lost in them, he reached out to you, the palm of his hands wrapping themselves around your forearm, causing you to let out a small squeak as you looked at him, and he could feel you trembling.
"Hey sweetheart, you look like you've just seen a ghost," he greeted with a joke in an attempt to lighten the mood and bring you back to the now.
It seemed to work as your eyes refocused on him, and your lips that had been parted in surprise finally allowed you to speak, albeit with an unsure tone.
"L-Leon?"
"The one and only, in the flesh," he answered as his fingers rubbed soothing circles against your arm, the coolness of his wedding band sinking into your skin and making you shiver. "Know I'm about three months late coming back, but damn do you work fast locking a guy out."
His little tease flew completely above your head as you reached out to touch him, your fingers shaking as they gingerly made their way towards the side of his face. You were so afraid that if you touched him, he would disappear. So afraid that you were still dreaming, even if you could feel his arms on yours. It would devastate you more than you already had been if this were all a dream. But when your palms cupped his cheeks, and you felt the warmth of his skin, and the scratchy stubble he had grown against your palm, you knew it wasn't a dream.
He was real. Leon was alive. And he was standing in front of you.
Your heart almost burst.
"H-h-how? How? You-you can't be here," you stuttered out, a tight lump slowly growing in your throat as you looked up at him with eyes that already started to blur with tears. "We buried you. I-I buried you."
Shaking his head, he turned his head just a smidge to kiss your palm, which elicited a sharp cry from you as you pulled away as if he had burned you. He would never admit how much it pained him to have you do that, but it probably would never equal the amount of pain you endured these past few months.
"I'm so sorry I made you think that I was gone. For putting you through all of this."
Numerous emotions engulfed you at that moment. Here Leon was. Your husband. The man you loved so deeply that you didn't understand what the point of anything was if he wasn't with you. He was alive. He was safe and with you.
And you were…you were…furious.
You weren't even sure if that fury was truly at him as you began to shake and your brows furrowed deeply. But it hadn't mattered because it still came out, and it came with a thunderous shriek of,
"You bastard!"
It was more than loud enough for your neighbors to hear, yet Leon didn't flinch as you smacked his chest with balled fists. Hot tears cascaded down your cheeks that burned as you pushed and pounded at his chest with all the force you could muster. But he didn't move, nor did he try to stop you. No, he just stood there and allowed you to scream your heart out at him. You deserve to be able to weep and take out all the emotions that had finally erupted out of you after all this.
"How could you Leon? How-how could you do that to me you bastard! You were dead!"
Your voice cracked, and another cry left your lips as you continued to hit him. Yet each time your fist landed against his chest, it was weaker than the last as the adrenaline that coursed through you began to fade and morph into a familiar fatigued feeling.
"I am a bastard aren't I?" he agreed half-heartedly as he watched you hit him once more before exhaustion took hold and you slumped against him with a muffled sob.
Without a word, he wrapped his arms around you and pulled you tight against him. And as soon as you felt his arms around you, and smelled the familiar scents that were uniquely Leon's, you felt yourself coming undone at the seams that had been wound so tightly.
"I missed you so much, I-I-I!"
You couldn't get your words out, instead letting out another cry as you pressed yourself closer to him, longing to be as close as possible to make sure that he wouldn't go anywhere.
"Shhh, I got you now sweetheart," he soothed gently as he rubbed your lower back, pressing a kiss to the top of your head as he squeezed you tight, relieved to have you in his arms again. "Come on, let's go inside. I promise I'll explain everything. Is that…is that okay?"
Not pulling away from him, you slowly tilted your head up, teary eyes meeting those ocean blues that you never thought you would see again. And just like the ocean, you could see waves of emotions rolling deep in them. With a sniffle, you nodded and answered with low but desperate,
"Please."
Listening to Leon explain everything that had happened in the three months he was gone was a whirlwind to say the least. Throughout him telling you what had caused the decision and what had happened afterwards, you had burst into tears multiple times. While some of the outbursts were indeed because of what he told you, it was also because he was back with you. A little scraped up and bruised, but it was better than the alternative, in which you had lived in for what felt like eternity.
"I just wanted to keep you safe sweetheart. I would have sent a message over to let you know I was alive, but," he shook his head and let out a sigh fitting for a man who was always having to save the world practically. "I couldn't risk it. Couldn't risk you…I'm so sorry [Y/n]."
You stayed silent for a moment once he was done. Absorbing everything he had to say to you as your mind replayed his words. None of it was surprising honestly. Leon, he always tried to do the right thing, and you believed in him and his judgment. And truly…if you had to do the same thing to keep him safe, wouldn't you? You were angry, yes. But not at him. Never at him.
"And it's over right?" you asked, taking his hands into yours, basking in the warmth and roughness of the palms that had always kept you safe. "You guys were able to beat them?"
"Wouldn't be here if we didn't sweetheart." He smirked, and you returned it with a soft smile of your own before he continued with furrowed brows and a serious look.
"But you know, this might not be the last time, right?"
You blinked.
"You're not trying to go three for three on faking your death are you?" you asked with narrowed eyes and pursed lips now that you knew this hadn't been the first time he had to do that.
His eyes widened before he let out an amused scoff and shook his head. "Nah not trying to make it a world record or anything," he answered with a grin. "I just mean these organizations," he sighed. "You take one down and another pops up in its place that we eventually have to stop. And one day…one day I might not-"
"I…I know Leon," you interrupted, squeezing his hand as you couldn't bear to hear about the 'what if' so soon after already living through it. "I knew the risks when I married you and… it's not a secret how much it scares me when you're away saving the world from organizations like that. I wish it would be over but…"
You shook your head, and when you spoke again, your voice was laced with a gentle confidence as you held his gaze.
"I also know you, and I would never want you to have to stop doing what makes you who you are just because it scares me. Because…because that care and drive to protect others, it's the same thing that makes me love you."
The sincerity in your voice and eyes as you spoke to him was the thing that had him coming undone. That was the moment when he couldn't help but let go of your hand, only to wrap it around you and bring you close to him.
A squeak left your lips at the sudden motion, and before you could regain your composure, he murmured, "God I love you do you know that?" Right before his lips were pressed against yours.
Your arms found their way behind his neck as you hugged him to deepen the kiss. It felt so good. To be in his arms, to feel his lips against yours as he cradled you close. If there had been any lingering anger in you, it had melted just as you melted into his hold as he pulled away from you with a smirk.
"I love you too," you giggled airily, stroking his cheek, and just drinking in that he was here. Leon was here and alive, and you were in his arms. You could burst.
"Well then," he murmured before he placed another quick kiss against your lips. "Would you still love me if I told you that I'm thinking about slowing down?"
Brain still a bit foggy from the kiss, you peered up at him curiously and tilted your head in a way that he always found adorable.
"Slowing down? As in…less field stuff?"
He nodded.
"Had a lot of time to think during the flight back and one of those thoughts was about training up some new comers…maybe take on a less lethal role."
"And you won't hate me? You know…I just, I don't want you to stop doing something that I know is a big part of you just because I worry."
He blinked, confusion clear in his eyes as you fidgeted under his gaze before a short, unamused laugh left his throat. "Hate you? Sweetheart why would I hate you? I should be thanking you for not kicking me on the street for that stunt I pulled. Plus."
With a stretch of his arms and shoulders, you could clearly hear some bones pop before, and you winced while he let out a groan.
"I'm getting too damn old to be getting yeeted around by mutated bio-weapons every other week."
You stared at him for a moment like he had just grown another limb similar to the bio-weapons that were always after him.
"I'm sorry, yeeted?"
He shrugged.
"It's what all the kids are saying nowadays, apparently."
"You know what, forget what I said, I think you should take on more assignments."
"Hey!"
Grabbing your waist and tickling your sensitive sides, a loud shout flew from your lips before you began to squeal and laugh. You were powerless as you wriggled in his hold as he began to kiss you all over, noises of delight leaving you both, even as you protested.
This lasted for a few moments until your laughter began to morph into sobs, and immediately, his heart felt as if it stopped. Freezing, he pulled away from you and watched the way the delighted expression from earlier had become
"Hey, hey sweetheart, come on you're alright, I'm alright," he cooed as he cradled you close to his chest. "Not going anywhere I promise."
You nodded, yet the tears didn't stop as you hugged him and lay your head against his chest. "I just, I just missed you so much," you whimpered as you listened to the sound of his heartbeat. "It hurt, Leon. It hurt so bad when they told me. I thought…I thought I was gonna die too."
He grimaced at your words, the lump in his throat threatening to choke him up as his arms squeezed you tight at those words. God, he didn't even want to think about that. A world without you was unfathomable.
"But you're here," you continued. "Thank you, thank you so much for coming back to me."
Shaking his head, he just stroked your back. "I'd always come back to you, always." And again he apologized, knowing no matter how many times he said it, it would never be enough.
"I'm sorry [Y/n]."
You both sat there for a moment in silence while he cradled you against his chest. Every so often, he would place a kiss near the crown of your head, and you would stroke his arms relishing in the feeling of being held in them again. It was only after you knew you could speak without breaking into tears that you pulled away from him, earning a questioning noise as you looked up at him.
"And for the record, you're not old," you sniffled, a smile on your lips as you gazed up at him with tear-stained cheeks but bright eyes. "Just middle-aged."
You let out another squeal of delight as he attacked your sides again for the comment.
To Leon's credit, he kept his word. Not that you ever had any doubts. Fewer field assignments were in his future as he trained newcomers, only going on assignments that truly needed his expertise.
Desk work, intelligence gathering, and mentoring began to take a front seat, and while it took some getting used to, he didn't exactly hate it. His body didn't scream in pain every day, and he was still able to help while not risking his life every other week.
This was new. And for him to adapt to it wasn't a cake walk, but that was the story of his life. But, he would for you, because you were the love of his life and deserved not to worry about him every time he was out in the field.
And he tried. He really did try to slow down.
Until the black marks began to appear.
A/N: Ive had Leon for like less than a month and I would fight everyone for him. Yet I make him suffer smh. Also there will be more Leon bc I need himmmmmm. Please let me know if you liked it~~~

For such a lavish holiday party, David was expecting a better choice of music as he stepped into the ornate sitting room that was separate from the main party that evening. Velvet red cushions were paired with gold and bronze furniture frames that had hand-carved intricate plant patterns that littered the surface.
Antique rugs were strewn with purpose on the mahogany floor, unlike the half-empty crystal glasses that stained the fabric with contents that probably cost a month's salary for some people.
Pictures of angels and holy figures battling demons were hung against the wall and were illuminated by the chandelier light above them. Which, if one looked closely, seemed to dance slowly to a haunting rendition of a familiar tune that somehow fit the scene he had walked into.
There was so much irony to it all as he watched the forensic team photograph the bodies of three gentlemen slumped over in their chairs as if they were resting from having a merry time of drinking and smoking their Cuban cigars that they so publicly denounced, yet, privately partook in.
"Looks like they had helluva party, detective," a young man in uniform said as he stopped in front of David to catch his attention. There was a sly but well-meaning smirk on his lips as he continued, "see they still got you on case work huh? Chief not over that Hornbeck and Matty thing ain't he?"
David's nostrils flared at the mention of that whole debacle, which garnered a sympathetic look and shrug from the uniformed officer in front of him.
"Man can hold a goddamn grudge for the rest of his life about it," he grumbled as he looked past the officer and at the scene unfolding behind him briefly before returning his attention to the officer. "Not my fault half these politicians here are career crooks."
"Yeah, and by the looks of it, we got a couple more of 'em," the officer replied as he pulled out the notepad hooked to his belt and began to page through it before landing on what he was looking for. "Apparently, two of these cats got caught up in some child trafficking type thing a year or so ago, but somehow got acquitted."
"And let me guess number three right there is somehow?" David asked, nodding his head to the now deceased District Attorney, who was also slumped over in his chair.
"Ding ding ding, you would be right, someone's been paying attention to the headlines," the officer responded as he turned around to face the crime scene that had thinned out some as the investigators went in and out of the room with evidence bagged up.
"Nobody saw anything suspicious? Nobody slipping in and out of the place? Someone that didn't belong?"
"Nothing. Everyone we talked to said they hadn't even noticed the three of them had scurried off somewhere till one of they wives was wondering and went off looking for 'em and found 'em all here."
A faint 'hrmph' left his lips as David approached the bodies, his eyes busy analyzing every single thing that came into view that might help tell the story of how the three men ended up like this. The stains on their shirts were red, not with blood but with wine, which tracked with the strewn wine glasses on the ground.
However, there didn't seem to be any obvious signs of struggle or of the suspect moving them onto the sofas after they were done. Which only meant that they had died where they sat. That only brought up another set of questions that were silently being answered as he observed all that was in front of him.
"What'd you say they get charged with again officer-," David paused and glanced at the young man's badge that was engraved with 'Landry' before looking up at him and finishing, "Landry."
"Few counts of child exploitation material and some other trafficking stuff," Officer Landry replied, his voice laced with disgust as he watched David kneel next to one of the bodies sitting in an armchair. "Heard there's been an uptick of stuff like this and wonder if any of 'em might be connected."
"What? Like some vigilante out there killin' folks because they think the law ain't putting people behind bars fast enough?" David asked as his eyes searched for answers that the dead could give him to figure out what had happened.
"Well I ain't saying they should be doing it, but I ain't also saying that they didn't have it coming. Hard to get justice when you can just pay a jury and a DA off."
He did have a point as much as David hated to admit. It had always been the thing that would sour his already bitter attitude towards life and work in general. What was the point of doing all this? Of finding the evidence, the perp, and going through the system, yet some of them got to walk scot free without even so much as a slap on the wrist because they knew someone or they were someone. The whole thing made him sick.
Yet it didn't stop him from unearthing the secrets the resting gentleman had, or more accurately wore, as he pushed the gold Rolex the man had been wearing up just above his wrist to reveal a purplish bruise that had been hidden by the piece of jewelry.
It was fresh, and by the looks of it, done with a pair of handcuffs. And if he were a betting man, he was sure that the other three were sporting matching ones like their friend.
"Looks like whoever did this got 'em comfortable enough to cuff' em where they were at," David said as he let the man's hand drop before standing and looking at Landry, who took some notes. "Either that or they put something in them drinks of theirs and knocked 'em out. But something tells me that ain't the case."
"So a lady?"
"And a young one too if we go by their preferences. Who else can keep a pack of men like them entertained and guessing long enough before they figure out what's happened?"
"Fair… makes sense too because they all left a confession on some recording that the crime scene folks took."
That was news to David, who paused and turned to look at Landry .
"What it say?"
"Shit all sorts of stuff," the officer grimaced. "Had a whole confession from each of 'em about the stuff they got acquitted on and where they could find evidence stashed in the house. Pretty sure a warrant's getting written right now."
"Sounds like whoever did this wanted a confession before they helped 'em shed the mortal coil since it's not like they can get charged again with it."
"And I guess poor Fred here got the short end of the stick since they couldn't leave a witness," Landry said nodding to the DA. "Got him to confess to about getting paid off by these clowns as well. Smart lady."
With a raised eyebrow, David shot Landry a silent look that practically said 'not the right time or place' that had the younger man letting out a nervous cough before jotting some stuff down on his notepad.
"Alright, so possible female suspect, no older than late 20s, and maybe with a history of being a victim of some sort of violence?"
"Yeah, use that and cross-reference it with the guests here," David ordered as he shoved his hands into his pockets while he began to rock on his heels while giving directions. "Branch out to people's guests as well. Someone who may have stepped away for too long or left in a hurry as I doubt whoever did this would stay and wait for us to show up."
Finishing jotting the information that he was given, Landry thanked David for his help and let him know he would round some folks up and come and get him when they had a few people of interest to talk to. In the meantime, he was free for a smoke break, which he took without hesitation.
The haunting tune of the room began to fade away as he made his way down the hall, nodding and acknowledging some colleagues who were there to take statements or collect evidence. When he finally found himself outside the house on the sidewalk, he took a deep breath, inhaling the cool December air that was rare for the city. Humidity was already settling in, and he could feel his skin begin to take on that sticky quality that was common for that time of year at night.
It was still better than being in that cramped room with all those people, though he mused as he reached into his pocket for the carton of cigarettes and his lighter that was stored away. Tapping the rectangular box and slipping one of the nicotine sticks between his lips, he flicked the top of the lighter open and was about to light the cigarette when a familiar tune stopped him cold.
He had just heard it inside, but this time the tune was faint, more upbeat than the haunting version that played inside. And most of all, the voice humming it was familiar, and it had his heart racing as it came closer.
Soft clicks of heeled shoes grew louder and louder in his ears as the person he knew all too well yet knew nothing about approached. His back was still turned to them as the sound of their humming grew, and it wasn't until they were right beside him did he cut his eyes to them.
She surprisingly didn't stop though as she passed him, a noticeable sway to her hips and pep in her step like a woman who had somewhere to be after having a very successful night. He at first wondered if she had even realized it was him standing there as it was in her nature to mess with him every chance she got. So maybe it wasn't her.
Maybe he was hallucinating a bit. God had she done a number on him if he was thinking about her when she wasn't there. But it wasn't until she had walked a few steps ahead of him did she freeze. Her little tune freezing as well before she turned to look at him.
A sweet, saccharine smile decorated her painted lips that matched the velvet color of the dress that was wrapped around her. It was a dress most definitely worn to impress with the way it showed off her best assets, especially with the plunging neckline and the golden necklace that dangled around her neck.
To say she matched the decorations was an understatement. She damn near blended in. And had he been someone else, he would have stopped her right there. But all he could do was stare at her as she winked.
"Sorry Dave! Girls got a plan tonight so can't stick around too long. Don't worry though," she said with a wink. "I'll be back around to make sure you're a very merry gentleman soon."
He didn't have a chance to even reply to her, still in shock as she continued on, this time singing the tune as she continued on her merry way to wherever she had to go. And something told him it was probably to cause more trouble.
There he stood on the sidewalk and watched as she practically skipped away to the tune of the night, yet all he could muster was a muffled,
🎄RICKMAS - a daily prompt challenge for all who love Alan Rickman and the characters he has portrayed 🎄
Welcome to this year's RICKMAS event! If you're new here, I give one prompt for each day up until the 24th of December to do with as you wish — make it the theme of the fic/drawing/song/edit/etc., make it a feature, or simply mention it in a corner. No matter how you choose to create with these prompts, all creative things are welcome!
I created and host this yearly event to help fans of Alan Rickman (any of his characters) to connect and share some love, joy, and warmth through December. Let’s expand our fandom universe and community, and interact with each other more!
This year’s tag is rickmas2025 — make sure to tag your work with it so we can all find your posts, darlings!
I endeavour to keep this event exciting and inspiring, even challenging, but also helpful for that creativity to get a nudge. We're on year six, and I decided to do something different yet again for the prompts - which I hope you'll love and be wholly inspired by! This year I've chosen a mixture of winter/Christmas-themed music for prompts - use the song, the vibe of the song, the title, or whatever part of each song you feel drawn to! (Or make it difficult for yourself, like I know I will 'cus I'm a silly goose, and keep it as song-inspired as possible, with the title or parts of the lyrics written within the fic too!)
*Drumroll for the list, please!*

14 ⧽. is there anything outside of your normal content that you want to write?
Yes and I'm slowly researching for it as there is mucho lore that has to be put together for it along with taking bits from unfinished media and trying to extrapolate from it. 😊
13 ⧽. do you have any writing projects/goals/plans you're working on/want to work on?
I'm answering out of order but yes LOL, part of it is answered in the first question eheh. I guess other writing projects maybe more unhinged y/n stuff with some more lore for her and maybe even 'finishing' her story but we will see. also maybe even the actual first part of entangled hearts LOL.
18 ⧽. how do you want your writing to feel to your readers?
When folks read stuff I want them to be like dang, she put her whole puswah into it(and then also tell me because I don't know if you dont say anything😭)
3 ⧽. what's something you like about your writing?
It's super detailed! And probably unnecessarily detailed for folks but I like to describe everything so that the reader can be like wow I'm really there. (or that's the hope)
4 ⧽. is there an au or trope that you haven't written before, but would want to try?
I wanna do a songfic! Some call em cringe but I think they are neat and have several songs in the bank I would like to do them with.
5 ⧽. is there a certain kind of fic that feels the most satisfying to finish? any reason why?
I guess a multi chapter fic because those take even more time and brain power to write? Honestly LOL anytime I finish a fic it's super satsfying so.
