Darn it Sophie tag the things, keep it organized
It's a Hobby Pt.50
It's a Hobby P50(FINAL) What would you say is your biggest fear? Your inevitable, perhaps painful, perhaps peaceful death? Your best friends betraying you, only to leave you with the fake happiness of your previous experiences? What about the person you love the most calling you a monster, saying they hate you? I have to admit those scenarios sound terrifying. Bone chilling. Traumatic even. In my personal opinion, the thing I fear the most is Jade almost setting me on fire the first week of sophomore year. Now THAT is quite traumatizing. Fortunately, it didn't happen. I slapped my alarm shut as soon as the thing started screeching in my ear. After about five minutes, I decide to get my lazy ass out of bed and get ready for school. The clock read 5:52 by the time I got out of the shower. Using a wash cloth, I wiped down the mirror to get a good look at myself. Totally humble, am I right? The wounds I got last year were pretty much clear by now. Bruises and dark marks didn't cover the canvas known as my skin. However, the dark circles under my brown eyes became more obvious. Ah the perks of being a teen. My wet blonde hair sags over my forehead. Pfft I'm just teasing, I'm still brunette of course. What would I look like with blonde hair? That's not important. I dry off, put on clean clothes and head back into my room. The lump of dirty clothes fall haphazardly into the laundry basket. "Shawn! Breakfast!" My mom calls from downstairs. I walk down, promptly getting a piece of toast once arriving in the kitchen. Just as I gobble down the last bits of toast a loud car horn honks for my presence. "Bye mom, love you!" I yell while sprinting out the door; my bag bounces off my back. "Morning Mr.Torrin!" I greet. "Hey Shawny boy!" He happily replies back. "Hello to you too, Shawn," Philip's greeting drips in sarcasm. I shape my hands into a heart. "Love you too, Philly cheese steak," To which he replies with a laugh. By the time we pull up to the curb, I can already see Jade and Brandon arguing. "What's all the commotion here?" I question. "He's just being dumb," Jade rolls her eyes at the unkempt skater. "I can't believe you don't believe in our lord and savior Tony Hawk!" He throws his hands in the air dramatically. Philip pulls him into his armpit. Jade and I laugh as Brandon desperately tries to pull out of the trap. "Jesus Phillip, did you take a shower this morning?" He pushes him away. Shrugging, Philip simply says "Nah." That's nasty bro. "Let's get going," Jade walks on with me. "Baby, come back!" Philip begs jokingly, but runs to catch up. Remembering that I had a new locker was actually a bit of a challenge. Last week, I wandered into the freshman hall and almost broke into some kid's locker. Again, I don't exactly adapt all that well or quickly. Upon arrival to my locker, I notice a yellow sticky note stuck on the dial. "Frosh took our spot; Meet me in the pit -Luke" Damn, I really liked that area. I rip the note off and pocket it. The locker door swings open after I spin the code, and I sling my back pack into the metal box. Before I could secure my things and leave, I'm caught by surprise; the smell of chocolate and lavender filling my senses. "Mornin," Lachlan mumbles into my shirt. His arms hold me as if I was going to leave forever. Cute. "You know you have a feminine smell right?" I blurt. "Wow," Lachlan rolls his eyes. Or I think he does, I can't exactly see him. "Such a romantic thing to say Shawn," he plants a kiss on my cheek. "Ah gee, thanks. But seriously what laundry detergent do you use cause like bro," I turn around, dig my face into his sweatshirt and take a big whiff. While I bask in his oddly girly, yet quite enjoyable scent, Lachlan shuts my locker for me. "To the pit we go!" He says as he walks side by side. The pit is actually the mini amphitheater several yards from the football stadium. So in a sense it is a literal pit. There, our group is already sitting and talking. Trystan, Brandon and Lucas are yelling about something, who knows what. Jason and Philip talk amongst themselves while the girls are all having a discussion most likely about girl stuff. Again, who knows. The two of us catch Noelle's attention, so she waves us over. I start walking over towards them until Lachlan grips my hand and pulls me into a kiss. Although we've kissed multiple times by now, he still manages to take my breath away. "Ha! Gaaayyyy!" Lucas calls. Our "lovely" audience cheers in response. Lachlan pulls away, embarrassed from the attention. Honestly, I could care less. As revenge, I steal my own kiss from him. He gladly accepts the gesture. The cheers crescendo into roars and hoots. "Stop kissing me!" Lachlan flat out lies. I smirk back and peck his lips. "Sorry. It's a hobby."
It's a Hobby Pt.49
It's a Hobby P49 "You did what!?" The shock and amazement in Jade's eyes sparkle. Philip stares longingly at her. Again. "We kissed. That's all that happened," I roll my eyes and cross my arms. A swarm of commotion draws near, Lachlan in the eye of it. "Ooh, so why don't you BOTH tell us what happened?" Hannah says flirtatiously. They push Lachlan into the empty seat next to mine, and then they claim the rest if them. "We stopped the communist regime," I say poker faced. Philip comments cheekily "Afterwards they made out to make a point." Everyone at the table starts cheering and hooting with the exception of me and Lachlan. He looks pretty pissed off. Lucas swings an arm around Lach's shoulder while grinning from ear to ear. "It's ok LJ, there's nothing wrong with being a pan." Jade practically jumps out of her seat. "You're pansexual? Do you know what this means?" She exclaims. Oh no. I swear to god, if she says it.. "I can call you Peter pansexual!" I face palm. "Ooh! Shawn can I call your boyfriend that?" Brandon's face lights up. "B-boyfriend?" Lachlan and I say in unison. "You guys did do the do," Trystan taps Lachlan's nose. The giant of the table begins blushing furiously, avoiding eye contact from anyone. "We just kissed, guys!" I groan. "Nice," Noelle walks up to us. "Hey! Where have you been?" Eileen tilts her head. She stares us down with an eerie look and saying "Just...business." Damn, was she mysterious. However, Jason just smiles sweetly at her while making space for her. "You don't have to worry about Kylie for a while now," the amusement on her face is prominent. "What'd ya do to Kylie?" Lucas asks. Everyone stares at Noelle expectantly. "Let's just say she's been suspended for harassment of all sorts, storing drugs in her locker, and inappropriate, I don't get that one, dress code," the whole table celebrates. "Damn, that's a lot!" Trystan slaps his knee. That's so southern I could cry. Jason nods excitedly, "No kidding! How'd you find out?" Noelle just smiles secretively while putting a finger to her lips. "Whatever. At least you took care of the problem," despite having a neutral face, I could tell Jade was quite impressed with her rival. Which is kinda shocking. Brandon flashes a toothy grin and sports a yellow hat. "I'm surprised people actually liked Kylie!" He initiates conversation. Once, I would've felt betrayed that Brandon dared to willingly to talk with our opposing group, but now I'm more open to the idea. Much more open. By a lot. Enough of my rambling though. I take a backseat watching our two groups blend and merge into one. The majority of life's problems is being kept out of our hair for a while, bur my parents would probably freak out if they find out that I'm....dating? Am I dating Lachlan? I stare at him in distress. After a moment, he stares back with worry in his eyes. "Everything alright, babe?" His face explodes into color after giving me the pet name. "Oohhh is Shawn your babe?" Lucas nudges his best friend's arm. "At least I have one. You're probably gonna be some 40 year old virgin, Luke," Lachlan scowls menacingly at him. "Sick burn! D'ya need some aloe vera for that?" Stupidly enough, Brandon throws down some, as he calls it, sick gangster signs. He and Lucas get into a playful argument, and everyone minds their own business. "As I was saying," Lachlan sighs "Is everything ok?" "We're not official," I state; lips pulled into a tight thin line. "What do you mean by that?" My significant other questions. "Us. We're not exactly an official thing," my fingers rap on the table. Lachlan raises an eyebrow, "Then how about we make it official?" He grabs my hand and smiles. "Shawn," he says "Do you wanna be my boyfriend?" My heart stops and I feel euphoric. With a big cheesy grin, I laugh and say "No." Everyone at the table yelps. "What the hell are you doing?" Philip demands. "Oh my god guys, I was just kidding," I lean up and peck Lachlan on the cheek. "Yes, I will gladly be your boyfriend," Lachlan chuckles at the kiss. As things begin to settle down, we adjust our hands so that they fit more perfectly in each others grip.
It's a Hobby Pt.48
It's a Hobby P48 Oh yes. I just did that. Lachlan freezes. I slowly pull away and give him a smirk. After blinking a few times, he smiles and breathily says "Wow." "Yeah," I bite the inside of my cheek, "That was a pretty good second kiss." Lachlan looks offended. "What the hell do you mean second kiss?" His arms cross. Grinning cheekily, I wrap my arms around his neck and say "In second grade, this Sally girl ran up to me and kissed me, but I didn't really like her anyways. Don't worry." Mischief gleams in his eyes as he leans towards me. "I can probably make up for that by giving you the best third kiss of your life," he says huskily. "With pleasure," and our lips meet for the second time. Admittedly, Lachlan is a very good kisser. Then again, I can't really compare since he's the second person I've actually kissed. None the less, I'm enjoying every second. As soon as I start getting the feel of it, I try a little experimenting. I dip my tongue into his mouth and start sliding it on the inside of his cheek. Lachlan gasps from the new sensation. Soon, I find my myself feeling his teeth. Which is also weird, I have no idea how to make out honestly. Judging on how he's gripping me tighter and his hitched breath, I say it's going well. Electricity surges through me as cold fingers travel up my shirt. "Shit, that's cold," I mutter. It's muffled, but I can hear him apologize. His scent leaves me breathless. Lachlan begins feeling my abdomen. Why is he doing that. "What the actual fuck, Shawn," he stops and sits up. I look at him puzzled. "What's wrong?" Lachlan practically rips my shirt up to check out my abs. "You DO have abs!" He stares in awe. "So?" I cover my face. "So? It's...hot," I catch him lightly licking his lips. Because I decide to take advantage of this, I flip him over so that I'm on top. "That's good to hear," I kiss him deeply. Lachlan's voice rumbles, most likely moan. My hands travel to his collar and grab it roughly. My hips hover above Lachlan's. He pushes them down, so that I straddle him. His thumbs slip into my pants, pulling at the bands. My pulse spikes up. How far are we gonna take this? As long as I'm not the bottom, I guess I could be okay with it. Just as his fingers fumble to my shirt, the door flies open. In a flash, I'm shoved onto the floor and my ribs ache yet again. "Lach! Mom wants you to help with groceries!" Lachlan's twerp of a brother barges in. "Tell her no thanks," Lachlan says with a red poker face. "Wait, who's that?" Ross points at me. I roll on my side and wave shyly. "Hi Shane!" He says cheerily. "Shawn," I correct. "Whatever. I'm telling on you, Lachlan," he walks out. A moment of awkward silence passes until Lachlan blurts out "You look irresistible from this angle." I sit up saying "Thanks I try." He scoots over and pats the empty spot next to him. Gladly, I join him. As Lachlan wraps his arms around me, he says to himself "I'm the big spoon now." I scoff at his lovable dorkiness. "That was too fast," I murmur in his ear. He responds by simple nodding. "I'm not ready. Are you?" He asks me, a tone of concern in his voice. "Not at all. I'll be ready when you're ready though. I'll tell you that much," we fit together like a perfect match. "Cool," he nods. "Cool," I mirror Lachlan. He leans in for another, more innocent kiss, and we lovingly enjoy the feel of each others love. "Lachlan James Kosinski, get down here!" His mom calls. He just rolls his eyes and kisses me again.
It's a Hobby Pt.47
It's a Hobby P47 The two of us lay quietly on his bed, a laptop balanced on our legs. Lachlan's head rests upon my shoulder, and my arm drapes over his torso. An empty plate that once held our chicken nuggets sits on his nightstand. Since Lachlan wanted to get his mind off of Sparky, we decided to watch The Sound of Music. "This is so...boring," he grumbles. "Then why in the world did you choose this movie?" I eye him suspiciously. Lachlan shrugs and says "Tobias and Mrs.Tsang are always singing the soundtrack whenever I'm over. Noelle doesn't like to admit it, but she does it too." Wait Noelle has an older brother? Wow ok that's new. "You guys are close friends right?" I ask. "Yeah. She's one of my best friends. And could possibly be a better mom than my biological mom," his laugh is sincere and happy. After a moment, I speak up. "I like this," Lachlan lifts his head up to look at me. "What are you talking about?" His head cocks to the side. "Just chilling out. Talking. Cuddling..." My voice drifts off. "I want to be the big spoon next time," Lachlan pouts. "Why?" I reach over and pause the movie. "Are you kidding? My legs are barely on the bed because im at a lower angle from you," he sits up, leaving my torso cold. "I can sit up if you want?" I adjust for him. "No. I want to be the big spoon!" The little baby insists. An idea pops into my head, and I give him the cockiest, most confident look ever. "Fight me," I grin. Luckily, he matches my expression while pushing away the computer. Lachlan grabs a pillow. I do the same. He swings to the right, but I dodge it by a long shot. As I land on the bed, probably damaging the bed springs, I smack Lach in the chest. "Ha!" I cheer in triumph. He brings the soft weapon down from above. Like a total ninja, I roll over onto the floor. "Hey, that's not fair. The floor is lava," he says in a baby tone. "Fine. The floor is lava," when I kneel back onto the bed, Lachlan hits me full force. I topple over, but smiling in the process. He grabs my wrists and pins them back. Lachlan's body artfully suspends above me. "I win," he says with ego. "Congratulations. Here's your prize," I lean up to him and meld our lips together.
It's a Hobby Pt.46
It's a Hobby P46 By some miracle, I stand in front of Lachlan's house. And if you must know how I got here when my parents were at work, let's just say hitch hiking can be crossed off of my bucket list. The sweat from my hands is conspicuous. Yuck. I drag my hand across my jeans. The back pack I carry with me seems to add to my burdens. Am I really gonna do this? Well, his neighbors are giving me looks, so I might as well. Once again, I make my way up the stairs. This time being more terrified and wary than nervous and excited. It appears as though no one is home, but of course it's 12:05 on a Wednesday afternoon. Obviously, his younger brother is at school and his parents are at work. What if he has a stay at home parent? Did they go out for groceries? Maybe they went out to eat. Wouldn't it be awkward if I just waited outside? I slide the backpack off of my shoulders and toss it onto the welcome mat. "I guess he didn't need me," I mutter to myself. Just as I turn and walk down the first step, I hear the front door creak. "Shawn?" Lachlan's voice croaks out. When I turn to see him, I almost die. His battle scars show. Lachlan has a black eye, a broken nose, a split lip and multiple cuts and bruises. Who know what else there is that I can't see. Aside from that, red puffs swell from his eyes and he's as pale as a ghost. Lachlan only wears a simple white t-shirt and black shorts, but I could tell that they've been worn for a while. He looks down at the brown backpack at his feet. "Hey," I state monotonously. "What's this?" He picks up the bag and inspects it. "Just uh... Some stuff," I walk slowly back up to the door. "Mind if I...y'know," Lachlan tugs on the zipper. "Go ahead," he starts looking through. He pulls out a couple of movies, one being my favorite one. After putting them back, he continues to shuffle further into the items. "Video games?" He asks. "Yeah they're just play station games though, so if you don't have a play station that sucks," Lachlan only nods in response. All of a sudden, he freezes. I stand there looking at him like some idiot. "Lachlan? Are you ok?' I ask. Lachlan smiles. Then he starts giggling hysterically. And I know why. I don't fight back the grin. "You like?" I wink at him. He pulls up a bag of dinosaur chicken nuggets and nods. "Love em. What's with all the stuff though?" Lach closes the pack and puts it inside. My mouth feels like cotton. The words get lost in my mind. "Shawn?" He encourages me to speak. "Isn't...isn't this what you do?" I begin. Lachlan gives me a puzzled look. "When you truly care about someone, but you fuck up big time? When they're sad and in pain? Isn't this what you do when you want that person to stop suffering because of you and everything else? You give them things that make them happy, and then you hold them and kiss their cheek and say to them 'It's gonna be alright!'" water builds up in my eyes. "But most importantly, you repent over the fact that you've hurt them and ask for their forgiveness because Lachlan J Kosinski," my voice cracks up. "I am so so sorry that I have made you feel this way and I am so sorry that I said all those things, but what I am most sorry about," I begin to sob "Is that I regretted falling for you." We stand there for a moment. I cry like a baby and he stands in awe. Then I am enveloped in warmth. The vibrating of Lachlan's voice tickles my ear. "That is what you do. When you've fucked up. When they're spiraling into misery because they feel they did something wrong. You give them solace and a reason to live. You keep them safe from all harm, give them TLC and tell them 'I care about you'," By now, we're both crying. "And most of all, you beg for them to forgive them because you need them so much, and Shawn whatever-the-fuck-your-middle-name-is Hartke. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I'm so very sorry that I am the piece of shit who hurt you. And I formally apologize that you had to like this certain piece of shit." I laugh into his shoulder and nuzzle my cheek against him. For quite some time, we enjoy the lack of space between us
It's a Hobby Pt.45
It's a Hobby P45 It's been three days since I got the news about Sparky. I didn't know him very long, but he was a good dog. Sparky was vibrant and joyful despite the fact that he was old. He always made Lachlan happy and was probably his first best friend. If I had a dog, I would be heartbroken when they died. Keyword is IF. Thanks mom and dad. According to Noelle, he's in shambles. They can't be there for him though. Fucking school. Why does it ruin everything? I want to be there to comfort him. I want to hold him and tell him everything's ok. I want the warmth of his body against mine. I want his head cradled on my shoulder. And this is getting too cheesy wow ok. Dial it back a bit Shawn or this will escalate REALLY quickly. What is a guy like me to do? Bzzt. Noelle: You need to go see Lachlan Me: Why Noelle: Because he needs someone right now. I gotta go, bye I contemplate visiting Lachlan. He'll either cast me aside and sue me for random shit I didn't do or he'll rip up my totoro. Both are equally bad. How can I be sure he won't do those things? I mean I know now that he might kinda sorta like me. "Can't not fall in love with my enemy" I flash back to the day of the fight. Ok, he might kinda sorta like me a lot. But still. Why not take a chance? Maybe he'll accept my consolation and afterwards we'll talk and hopefully make out. Wait, bad idea no making out. But then again, making out. This is a struggle. I guess I could go visit him. No. I shouldn't. Terrible idea. But yolo right? No, ebolo! I can't fucking choose. I grab a coin from my wallet. "Heads for yes, tails for no," I mutter to myself. The coin flies after I flick it up. I catch it with a swift motion. The answer is right in front of me. "Aw shit"
It's a Hobby Pt.44
It's a Hobby P44 Boy did my parents flip out. Well, mostly my dad, but he wasn't concerned that I fought another student, he was more concerned that I couldn't do track this year. Oh well, I guess school's gonna get an all star runner next year. Speaking of school, I got suspended for a week. It's not so bad. Except for the humiliation of being suspended. That's pretty bad. Otherwise, everything seem pretty ship shape. Everything except for a certain potato latke. Suddenly, a rhythmic pattern is tapped on the other side of my bedroom door. Tap tap-ta tap tap. I complete it with two taps. The door creaks as Jade sneaks in. "Did someone order a shave and a haircut?" Her eyes flash with playfulness. "One, I don't really grow facial hair and two, my hair is fine thanks," I lean back on my pillow. "I brought you your homework. Brandon and Philip say hi and sorry they couldn't come. Philip cause of a dental appointment and Brandon cause of...y'know," she places the stack of papers on my desk. "Jade?" "What is it, you egg," Jade teases. "Were you really in cahoots with Noelle when it came to me and Lachlan?" I smirk. The look on her face is priceless. Her pupils dart around, and she begins shifting uncomfortably. "Who..." Jade swallows "What...makes you think that?" Sitting up, I laugh heartily at her reaction. "Noelle told me, you don't need to freak out," as I continue laughing, Jade's face twists into a disgusted expression. "You lil shit, I should throw you out of the window," she squeezes my cheek. Her eyes soften, and she sits next to me. "I didn't mean for you, or Lachlan, to get hurt. At all," Jade sighs. "It's alright. I know you had the best intentions," we sit comfortably in each others presence. "So," Jade's tone picks back up to impish "What exactly are you?" I look at her in confusion. "Um...khakis?" I shrug my shoulders. She rolls her eyes and tries again "No, I mean what's your sexuality?" Huh. What is my sexuality? I know now that I also like guys, but girls are just as good. After giving a few more moments of thought I answer. "Most likely bisexual," it feels good to let this out. "Damn," Jade clicks her tongue "If you were pan then I could've called you Peter pansexual." "What kind of nickname is that?" "A great one," she flicks a strand of her caramel hair from her face. I face palm and thank god I'm not pansexual. "I have to get going, Spanish test tomorrow," Jade waves as she leaves. Yet again, I'm left alone to brood about life. Or perhaps to celebrate it. Bzzt. My heart rate rockets, and I scramble for my phone. 1 new message from Noella Enchanted. I forgot I still had her number. Noelle: Shawn it's an emergency Me: ??? Everything ok? Noelle: No everything is not ok Her responses are quick, too quick. This troubles me. Me: What happened? Noelle: It's about Sparky A chill runs down my spine. Sparky, Lachlan's dog. It's a gut feeling, but I know that I'm right. And that's not good. Me: And? Noelle: He just died.
It's a Hobby Pt.43
It's a Hobby P43 "Your fault? What are you talking about?" My attempt to sit up fails. I cry out in pain and flop down on my pillow. "Analysis on your injuries; Bruised ribs, broken jaw, concussion, multiple cuts and bruises on your face and knuckles. Who knows what else, but anyways," Noelle stands and paces around the room. I patiently wait for her to speak. "He's been so lonely. He's been paranoid, self conscious. Lachlan hasn't--Isn't" she corrects herself "happy." I listen intently, hanging on to every word. She goes on, "Ever since last year, he's been off. He's got so many things on his plate, but no matter what I said, he always brushed me off. From Sparky getting older to growing up to not having a clue about his future... Of course, these kinds of things are typical for a teenager, but Lach. He's taking this so hard." By now, Noelle is talking to herself. She strides to the chair besides me and sits down. "But then," she looks at me with hope in her eyes "Something about him changed! Lachlan seemed much cheerier and he began to smile more. For a while I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw him talking with you at school. There was a certain glow about him and although he didn't show it outwardly, I could just tell, motherly instincts after all, that he was ecstatic just to be around you!" My heart sped up, and a smile grew on my face. "So I decided to help intervene with a little help from your side too," Noelle says foxily. "Help? From who?" Then I remember the photo. "Jade..." I groan. She smiles shyly and nods. "Jade was an accomplice to this yes. As time went on, we kept pushing and pushing for you two to be together, but I didn't realize what that was doing to Lachlan or you. And then...all these rumors happened. It was relentless taunting for a while. He could take it, but knowing him it would've made a crack in his armor eventually. And then when his friends started getting bullied too he felt so helpless! He thought that it was all his fault..." Tears weld up in her eyes. "I couldn't help him. I only added to the fire, and now he's badly injured and so depressed and...I couldn't protect him!" Noelle sobs out. Staring in shock, I could only do the one thing that could comfort her. I pat her head stiffly. "You're hurt too Shawn. That's my fault as well." "Don't say that. I know you were trying to help and that's the main reason. You wanted to help Lachlan be happy again," I say. Sniffling, Noelle says "I did my best." "You did," I say as I pat her back. "Would you excuse me for a moment?" She gets up and walks into the office. I sigh, digging my phone out of my pocket. After opening the camera app, I take a good at my face. "Jesus..." Lachlan sure did a number on me. There's a shallow yet long cut on my chin. Bruises adorn my temples, and there is dried blood under my nose. Who knows what happened to everything else. Suddenly, the door swings open. Jason pops his head in. "Oh I thought I would find you here!" He walks in and sits next to me. "Listen man, I wanted to apologize for the way I acted. It wasn't cool, and it just made everything worse. I hope you can forgive me," he says gently. Jason holds out his hand in apology. I nod and shake it. "It's all good," I say with resolve. "Shawn," Noelle walks in holding some paperwork "Did you need to call your parents?" When I look over at Jason, he looks euphoric. He runs over to Noelle, grabbing her torso. Luckily, she's able to catch the both of them before they fall over. Jason picks her up and begins twirling her around. I watch them awkwardly as they squeal in joy. "Where have you been all my life?" He laughs. "Sick at home for the past couple of weeks," carefully, Jason sets her back down. "How come I haven't seen you all day?" He asks. "I came back in fifth hour, but I got a headache soon afterwards. The nurse had to step out for a moment, and then I saw Shawn passed out. That's when I decided to help him with his injuries," She walks over to me with the papers. Something makes Noelle pause. "Speaking of injuries, what happened at today's fight?" The poor guy looks like he's been shot. Looking back on it now, Noelle wasn't there for the fight. Hypothetically, the person she would count on to carry out her actions is her boyfriend. Jason chuckles nervously when Noelle gives him her regal murderous side eye. "Jason," an eerie feeling settles in my stomach as Noelle calls out. With a huff, he crosses his arms and looks away. "Jason..." she gives him a pouty face. Tiny beads of sweat pop out; the poor man trying to resist the woos of his lover. Wow Shawn what is this, film noir? "JASON!" Noelle yells forcefully. "Nyyeeahhhh," bleats Jason. "It's alright. He came in and apologized for not stopping the fight," my words seem to calm her. For now. Because she gives me the stink eye, I'm sure that Noelle is pretty suspicious. "I guess that will be an acceptable answer. Do you need to call your parents?" I take the papers from her hands while nodding. "Yeah that'd be a good idea. Wait till they hear what shit I did this time."
It's a Hobby Pt.42
It's a Hobby P42 Everything is black, and I fade into the past. After all I have nothing better to do. I looked around the room, no signs of anything interesting going on. Jade was arguing with an alto sax player, he was probably blasting in her ear, while Philip and Brandon talked amongst the low brass section. My middle school band director, Mr.Stoltenberg, was sorting through music. He was always my favorite teacher. Mr.Stoltenberg was the reason I loved band so much. However, band wasn't so enjoyable sitting by a no good punk. Lachlan sneered at me. "What do you want?" He questioned. "Sorry, I was just noticing your dumb haircut," I retorted. I didn't like him at all. He always had some problem with me. There was a good chance I had it worse than him. "Whatever," Lachlan went back to whatever he was doing. "Alright kids, are you ready to rumble?" Mr.Stoltenberg's voice booms. "I hope you realize that we're playing with expensive instruments because you must be mad if you expect us to wrestle," Noelle says. His face drops, giving a rejected expression. "Oh. Well that's too bad cause we're gonna do it anyways," the class bursts out into confusion. "I'm kidding! Don't take it seriously! Let's just play," he paused and then started waving his baton. We run through the piece until Mr.Stoltenberg stopped the band to correct things. "You totally messed me up!" Lachlan complained. "Right," I scoffed "Says the kid who missed the key signature five times and couldn't hit high G." His face twists into a sour expression. Ha. "Says the kid who kept messing up his solo last week because he sucks at trumpet," my blood boiled. "Better than you at least. You can't even read music properly," I've always been able to sight read better than Lachlan. "So? I'm great at everything else," our voices began carrying throughout the room. "Haha that's a real funny joke," I mocked. "I bet it took two months to think of that one cause you're so dumb. You can thank your parents for that trait." "My parents are NOT dumb," he scowled. "Because it would explain YOU, they're probably imbeciles!" I taunted. "SHUT YOUR GOD DAMN MOUTH!" Lachlan jumped out of his seat and started pummeling me to the ground. Everyone scooted back in a nanosecond. "Lachlan!" I heard Noelle screech and the sound of chairs being pushed around. "Holy hell!" Jade exclaimed. As every punch bruised my face, I heard Mr.Stoltenberg rushed towards us. "Hey! No stop!" He pulled Lachlan off of me. "You'll pay! YOU'LL FUCKING PAY, HARTKE!" The kid screamed violently. "Lachlan watch your language," Mr.Stoltenberg dragged him away to the office. My sight was blurred and I could barely make out shapes. Two people lifted me up and started carrying me to the nurse. I think it was Noelle and Jason. My feet dragged along the ground as everything turned black. That's how my first fight with Lachlan went. I call it a draw. A lulling voice draws me back to reality. "Shawn," it beckons to me. I smile as if in a trance. "Shawn," it sighs sweetly again. I almost don't want to wake up. "Shawn...WAKE UP!" A jolt is sent through my nerves. My eyelids fly open and light pours into my brain. While my pulse slows down, I look to the person sitting on my right. "Noelle?" I ask. "Hello Shawn," she waves. "What? Where? How?" I wince. She changes out bandages and looks me over. "Stable condition. It's seventh period, you're in the nurses office. And I'd like to know that myself," she gives me that stern motherly look reserved for her most disappointing friends. The words are caught in my throat. Where do I start? I start from the beginning, telling her everything. From pairing up to be his partner to the drama happening to the fight to now. All the love stuff wasn't included, but it was heavily implied. At the same time, Noelle does medical checks, watches the clock, scribbling down notes, or more accurately just scribbles. When I finish, I look up at her. A solemn expression is painted across her face. "Noelle? What's wrong?" I reach for her hand, but she pulls away. "I'm sorry," she says quietly, like in mourning. I laugh, but it doesn't lighten the atmosphere. "Why are you apologizing? This isn't your fault," this time, it's Noelle who attempts a failing laugh. Looking down, she confesses "Actually, I have a lot to apologize for. Everything is my fault."
It's a Hobby Pt.41
It's a Hobby P41 The crowd is riled up the moment I raise my fists. Lachlan charges at me with full speed. At the last moment, I pivot on my heel, swinging my leg out. He falls on his back groaning. Everyone's making bets already; the cash is out. Lachlan staggers up looking me dead in the eye. We circle each other waiting for the other to make a move. When I'm in range, I lunge forward and thrust my fist towards his gut. He grabs it and twists my arm behind my back. My foot scrapes his shin as I simultaneously head butt his chin. He stumbles back, so I go for a side kick. With quick reflexes, Lachlan pulls my leg and back fists me into the chin. "Fuck!" I curse and break out of his grip. Blood dribbles down my chin, making the audience ooh and ahh. I smear the blood across my face. "What, did he ruin your makeup?" Lucas jeers. Lachlan looks away for a moment distracted by his friend's idiocy. I take the golden opportunity to tackle him. The fall distracts him for a moment. Grabbing the collar of his hoodie, I punch him in the eye. I strike again, but this time in the jaw. "Dammit Luke!" He yells. A sudden force is thrown against the left side of my face as Lachlan rolls on top of me. He winds up to throw the attack, but I quickly sit up to do an elbow strike to his face. I shove him off of me. "You're not running away that easily," he grabs my legs. My vision flashes and my ears ring when I make impact with the ground. Unfortunately, I don't have time to process things. Time is crucial in fights. A burning sensation blows through my side. Lachlan's foot digs into my ribcage. "I'm not good enough am I?" He yells at me. Another kick, this one harder than the last. "I do everything wrong don't I?" Lachlan's voice cracks. "My life is a big mistake! I can't do anything right! And it's all my fault!" He kicks again, and I cough up blood. That's not good. Everyone cheers, totally oblivious to Lachlan's dialogue. "I can't be good at anything," I cry out in pain as he continues. "I can't stop Sparky from dying," he sniffles. "L-Lachlan..." I choke out. "I-I can't...I couldn't...I don't," using all my strength, I catch the next kick and pull him down. He lands with a thud. "I...I can't not fall in love with my enemy," he squeezes his eyes shut. Tears fall out from his eyes then mine do the same. Whether it's from pain or empathy I have no clue. "Lach...hey Lach look at me," I gradually slide my hand over to his. He takes in a shaky breath. The cheering stops as the assistant principal barges through the students. "There! It was him! He started it!" The all too familiar voice of Kylie cuts through my brain. Just as I barely graze Lachlan's hand, he's pulled up by the collar and then dragged away. I hold back a shout because I don't have the strength to do it. My friends lift me up as I watch the person I care about the most be dragged away and sent to hell. Maybe not hell. Shut up Shawn, you probably have a concussion. In a flash, Kylie races towards me. "Shawn are you ok? It's alright, he's gone now. I fixed everything! Now you have to love me back right?" She says hurriedly. Every cell in my body freezes. "You..you're then one who started those...those rumors..." I barely gasp out. She just rolls her eyes "They were meant to be for Lachlan, but things got out of hand and Jamie decided to add some other stuff and--" It seems that I have a new found energy powered by wrath. "You! You're the one who did this! You caused this, you created this HELL for me, my friends and GOD knows who else!" My rage is merciless. Honestly, I could care less about her feelings anyways. "Because of you! Because of you, I...I," I swallow. Everything starts spinning. "Lachlan, I'm s-so..." Blood spews from my mouth. Sick. People start fading from my vision, it turns dark. I fall into a deep sleep. The last thing I hear is Philip calling out for me.
It's a Hobby Pt.40
It's a Hobby P40 Everyone's REALLY buzzing now. "What am I doing here, Luke?" Lachlan eyes me carefully. That's what I was thinking, too. "This doesn't concern him. He should leave," I say coldly. "Are you kidding?" Lucas says in disbelief "Lach was somehow integrated into this dumb thing you caused!" Brandon gets up in his face. Scrawny build against willowy limbs. "We didn't do shit! If anything, people are talking about you because it's all true!" The beanie color has switched again. "Lucas!" Lachlan snaps at him. "Why did you bring me here?" Everyone quiets down. "Probably to make things worse," Philip mumbles. "Do you wanna go?" Just as Lachlan makes the threat, I step between them. "Over my dead body. This is not a good idea, you should just get out of here," there's a growing heat in my stomach. If looks could kill, I would've been slashed to bits. "Don't act as if you're a martyr! You're just as bad as me!" He pushes me back. "I'm not trying to be a martyr, I just think that my friends shouldn't deal with anyone of the likes of you," I notice that the crowd is quietly chanting. "Fight, fight, fight fight," they say harmoniously, but I could care less. "How am I the bad guy? I don't exactly remember talking trash about everyone, putting their dignity at stake," Lachlan scoffs. "Why are you even targeting us? What have we ever done to you? What have we ever done to any of you!" My anger can't be calmed anymore "I'm sick and tired of this. I want this to stop." Lachlan laughs at me mockingly. "Me, me, me! It's always about you! Get off your high horse, Shawn! Stop pretending you're so perfect and godly! The truth about you is that you are a lying, dirty rat who only thinks about himself. Same goes with your friends." "Leave my friends out of this! And what about you? You're just as bad as me, maybe even worse," Lachlan reacts with an enraged face. "I'm not you," he says in a low voice. "No! You're not! You are a traitorous, conceited, isolated piece of scum who doesn't know how to think of others! At least I have the balls to admit that I have bad qualities, but you! You, Lachlan Kosinski, have your head shoved up your ass so far that you think you have the right to judge others!" My voice is hoarse, and I'm on the verge of tears. "You're worthless and pathetic!" Those eyes, full of fury and truth, burn my heart. We pause. They chant louder and louder, filling my head with one single word. "Thanks, Lachlan. Nice to know that I am JUST LIKE YOU IN EVERY SINGLE WAY!" What was once the person I learned to love and care about is once again the very thing on this earth that made me want to gouge my eyes out. "You and I are nothing alike! I would kill myself before I could even stoop to your level," he snarls. "How can your friends stand you? You don't even care about them!" I scoff at him. "Your fight is with me, Hartke!" "Then make a move, KOSINSKI!" Before I know it, his fist sends me flying back. Everyone is whooping and cheering. Jade and Brandon hold Philip back because they know that this isn't their fight. It's mine. I manage to stand up. One hit won't knock me down. Besides, if they want a fight, I'll give them a fight.
It's a Hobby Pt.39
It's a Hobby P39 The weather today is cloudy. Not a single bit of sun peaks through. I doubt it will rain, but it's gonna get chilly. We sit quietly, and far from the school. "Y'know I really appreciate the fact that they let us go outside for lunch," I say casually. "Good," Jade swipes a fry from Philip "Cause I don't want to be anywhere near those ass wipes." She came back on Monday. Nobody dared to say a word, for the first person who commented got five teeth knocked out and a broken nose. No one snitched either in fear of her. I wonder if she took kick boxing classes while she was gone because if not, I hope she doesn't take a class. "Are you ok?" She strokes Philip's bandage. "I'm fine. Are you?" She nods. They've been doing that all week, but who can blame them. Brandon would do the same if it were Angela; I would do the same if it were my stuffed totoro. "Hey Brandon," a random kid walks up to him "Could I buy some pot from you?" "Sure!" Brandon reaches into his pocket. Our mouths hang open. Does he actually sell weed? "Brandon, what the hell?" chastises Philip. Brandon pulls out a keychain of a kitchen pot. "That'll be 24.35, bud," he says with a cheesy grin. The kid walks off. "How long have people been asking you that?" When I ask, he just shrugs. "A little while. You wanna buy weed?" There is now a dandelion in his palm. Oh Brandon you and your puns. "I'm gonna go use the bathroom," Philip ruffles his hair as he walks off. In a flash, Brandon fixes his hair. "For someone who wears a hat all the time, you sure do like neat hair," Jade observes. Brandon huffs as he fixes his hat. "A. It's not a hat it's a beanie. Two. I'm currently dressing to impress a certain someone. And D. It looks better than your hair," he reasons. Jade rolls her eyes, countering with "It may LOOK better, but mine is soft. Your hair is really oily and gross." The two start getting into a heated discussion. I gaze up at the sky and lean my head against the wall. Giant flying sheep meld together and appear to be one giant ugly cat rug. Trippy. Sitting up, I take in my surroundings. Jade and Brandon fighting, a tree, some kids playing ultimate, Philip getting ganged up on, nerds playing pokemon(note: Join them), and a circle of girls gossiping. Hmm seems ordinary. Wait hold on, there's something out of place. Nerds don't go outside. Okay Shawn, bad stereotype, that ain't it. Suddenly, I spot Philip being punched in the gut. "Hey!" I yell angrily and dash over to my friend. Jade and Brandon follow behind. "I can't stop being hurt this week," he laughs in disbelief. "What is wrong with you?" Jade stands to the front. "Oh it's the pr-" before the guy can finish, she kicks them in the balls. "I am so sick and tired of people calling me a slut, whore, a prostitute, like what? H-how would you even get the idea? Besides, whether someone wants to have lots of sex or not is their business not yours. And if you must know, because some imbecile gave you the wrong fucking idea, im a virgin. I don't have sex for money, I don't even like the thought of sex really, so why a prostitute. Honestly, you people!" Wow. She prepared that speech I can tell. During her rant, a bunch of kids started to watch the drama. "It's ok Brutus walk it off," the guy and his friends walk away. "Aha! I knew it was you who started this!" Trystan comes out from the crowd. "What? We didn't do anything, that....what was it Brutus or some shit like that? I dunno, anyways it was that guy!" Brandon yells. "Please, I bet the rumors actually are true!" calls out Jason. Man, I thought he was cool. "Right okay, but did YOU have a rock thrown at your head? Were you given a concussion?" Philip snaps at him. "With all the things you've been saying about everyone, I think you deserve it!" Hannah comes from behind. The crowd gets bigger and antsier. This is a one way ticket to chaos. Jade snarls at her, arguing back "This whole entire week, we've been attacked! At the very most you've had some offensive comments about you!" The flames of their fury build higher and higher until Lucas runs in. "Hey! Let's do this right!" He pulls someone to the middle with us. "Lucas, what the hell are you doing?" He looks up "Shawn?" "Lachlan?"
It's a Hobby Pt. 38
It's a Hobby P38 Although it's under the radar, the drama is still amongst us. Jade hasn't show up for school for three days. I don't think she'll come back until later. Philip is doing better, but he has a slight concussion and a bandage on his forehead. So far, no one has publicly made fun of us. Yet. "I'll fight them," Philip says. "What do you mean?" I ask. "Whoever started these rumors! Whoever spread these lie, whoever threw that rock in my face! Whoever....hurt Jade," his grey eyes resemble a swirling storm in fury. "This is just bullshit. And it's just the tip of the iceberg too," Brandon looks over to Angela who sits at another table far from ours. "The rumors aren't just about us too," an image of Lachlan flashes in my mind "It's with Lachlan's group, and who knows maybe the football team has something just as bad." Philip and Brandon can only nod. Like an avalanche, everything can only get bigger and badder. Soon everyone is gonna have some beef with each other. Brandon's face lights up when Angela walks over, but quickly shows remorse. "Angela, what are you doing? Don't you realize that you'll be picked on, too if you hang around us?" He pleads. She simply sits next to him. "I don't really care. What are they gonna say about me, that I'm not a good mormon for being with a funny, kind and caring skater?" Angela says gently. "Yeah, more like funny looking," Sabrina slides into the seat by mine. "Wait, you're Mormon?" Philip looks shocked. "You...you didn't know that?" It's hard not to keep a smile off my face. He starts laughing "No! I really didn't, I'm sorry Angela!" Brandon rolls his eyes with a smirk on his face. Even Sabrina looks pleased. "It's been a while since I've smiled," I say, and the cheer eventually dies down. "Why? Why is it so hard to be happy," Brandon says sorrowfully. "Because people can't mind their damn business!" Philip slams a fist on the table. The quiet timid girl squeals and covers her ears. "Mormon!" Hisses Sabrina. As Brandon starts to calm her, I begin to realize the dynamic differences between the two. One is gentle, soft, and elegant; the other is wild, chaotic and clumsy. While I look upon the two with an analytical mind, Philip stares in envy. Probably wishing that Jade were here. I wish she was here as well. The bell rings for us to go to class. Hordes of kids head to their lockers. I end up being swept along with them. I get to my locker, get my books and leave for biology. Upon entering the class, the first people I see are Jason and Lachlan. The tension in the class grows tighter. "Kosinski," I greet with a fake smile. Lachlan rolls his eyes, but responds with "Fuck off, Hartke." At least he speaks to me. I'm furious with how he pretended to be my friend. But I think I despise myself the most for almost falling in love with him. It started with a simple annoyance, being each others' nemesis, becoming mutual friends, back to a ruthless hatred for the other. Of course my hatred is also fueled by a broken heart and hurt feelings, but it doesn't matter anymore. I don't need him. Lachlan might as well be dead to me.
It's a Hobby Pt.37
It's a Hobby P37 Brandon, Jade and I wait in the office while Philip is in the nurse's office. "Are you sure he is ok?" Brandon demands the front desk lady for answers. "Son, I can assure you he will be fine. I'll let you know when he is awake and is ok with visitors. Now go sit down" she points at a chair. Rejected, Brandon slumps back in his chair. His beanie is bright red, yet I don't know when he changed that. Jade sits on my other side. Her sweater, hands and face are stained with Philip's blood. Although the office ladies told her she could go to the bathroom to wash up, Jade's only response was "I just want to go home." Her parents were called and were on their way to get her. Philip's parents were contacted and were on their way, and they planned to take Brandon home as well. My parents didn't plan on me being relentlessly harassed, so they can't be here on the dot, and will leave me alone. Thomas, Jade's other father, rushes in. "Jade?" She slowly stands and walks to him. "Tanner couldn't make it, I'm sorry. I know you wanted him to come, but he'll be home by the time we get there too, so it will be alright," he explains slowly. Jade stares blankly at him. "Just..." She wraps her arms around him "Take me home...dad." At first, he's shocked, but hugs her back. "Alright, I will." While Thomas signs her out, Jade approaches us. "I'll see you guys later," she gives us each hugs. It's odd, she isn't usually this touchy. Then again, we all just went through a traumatizing experience. As she walks out and waves goodbye, Brandon speaks up. "Why do they hate us," Brandon slips off his own bracelet to examine it's detail. "I dunno. I guess...we're zoo animals. Fun to look at, fun to ridicule, fun to torture us," I respond. He just shrugs and says "Kay." Fifteen minutes pass, and I'm dying of thirst. I walk up to the lady. "Excuse me, could I maybe get a pass to get a drink of water?" I ask kindly. She writes me a pass and then sends me off. The cold metal of the fountain chills my fingertips. Icy water jumps from the spout when I press the trigger. After a few sips, I already feel better. Nothing like fresh cold water to wake you up after the entire student body bullies you. Water dribbles down my chin, and I wipe it off with my hand. The bathroom door behind me creaks open. "Shawn?" The person says with a hoarse voice. I whip my head around. Oh. Lachlan stands in the doorway, a solemn emotionless look on his face. "What?" I look down at the floor. "Those rumors..." He says under his breath. "Yeah well," I cross my arms "We both know you didn't get Jade pregnant, so you're in the clear." He stalks towards me. His eyes get colder and harder. "There's a good chance you're not," Lachlan's tone of voice is ominous. He shoves me against the wall. Fuck, seriously? "What the hell? Why did you say those things about them?" He yells. "Huh? I have no idea what you're talking about," I argue. He stares me down. "Don't play games with me. I know how you've been bad mouthing my friends," Lachlan's tall stature over powers me, but I know I'm stronger. "Hey stupid, they're fucking RUMORS. I haven't said shit about your friends," subconsciously, I bare my teeth. "Yeah, and talk trash about me too," his voice cracks a little. "No really," I say sarcastically "I can't voice my opinion? I thought this was America, land of where you don't STAB PEOPLE IN THE BACK!" I effortlessly weave out of Lachlan's trap, but he grabs my arm. "I'm not done, Hartke!" He growls. Twisting my arm, I break from his grip. "You better watch yourself, Kosinski. Don't be such a fucking tyrant!" Before I storm off, I turn to Lachlan. "By the way, I know I'm an asshole. It's a hobby!" He sneers at me. "Get out of here, Shawn," his eyes pierce through me. "Gladly! I'll see you tomorrow, Lachlan!" Fake cheer drips from my words. Back at the office, I sit in the chair next fo Brandon. "I need to sleep," I mutter. He hands me a beanie, so I pull it over my head and close my eyes.
It's a Hobby Pt.36
It's a Hobby P36 When I walk into the school, the whole student body is buzzing. We've had several of them this year, so this doesn't bother me. Sabrina walks up to me when I'm at my locker. "Is it true?" She asks as she preens herself. I look at her puzzled, "What are you talking about?" "Haven't you heard? It's going through the school like wildfire," Sabrina raised an eyebrow. My heart starts racing, and the only thing on my mind is the worst case scenario. "No," I say cautiously. Before telling me, she checks the surrounding area. "So what I heard from Sarah who heard from Annie who talked on the phone with Magdalene who texted Chris who--" "Sabrina!" Fortunately, she gets what I mean. "As I was saying," she begins fanning herself "Ooh sorry, this is a lot to take in. So what's been going around is that Jade has to work as a prostitute during the night and you help her out. There's a bunch of unimportant details, but Lachlan used her 'services' and got her pregnant. Also, you think he's a scumbag who shouldn't live on the face of the earth or something of the like." Sabrina is right. This is a lot to take in. "Okay, that's bullshit! Who the fuck would do that?" I slam my locker shut, the sound echoes through the hall. "Not sure. It's impossible to get sources here. And I thought it wasn't true. Jade's pride is too strong to let her do such a thing," Fujimoto begins drifting into thought. "Shawn!" Angela comes up from behind, a terrified expression on her face. "Brandon doesn't actually smoke weed does he?" She's in true distress. Sabrina snaps her fingers "Yes, I forgot to mention that." What the hell is happening? "No! For gods sake, he does not smoke weed, do drugs or is a sex addict! Angela, you know him. He'd never do such a thing," If I don't hold it together, I'm gonna go into hysterics. Angela seems a bit shaken too. She starts to cry. "Oh shit, what did I do? No, no please don't cry!" This isn't good. Everything is going to hell. "It's alright Shawn," Angela hiccups "I'm just relieved." "Shawn Shawn Shawn Shawn Shawn Shawn!" Brandon sprints down the hallway. Sabrina takes Angela away. "I have a feeling this is critical. Let's go Angie," Angela nods and walks off with Sabrina. "Sha--is that Angela? Shit that's not important, just come with me!" He takes off, and I follow behind. "Brandon, Brandon wait!" I slightly increase my speed, "What's going on?" He slams the doors to the bus loop. Students, from freshman to seniors, surround Jade and Philip. They taunt her and throw slurs at her. Some even chuck pebbles at her. Philip acts as a shield for her, once in a while turning around to talk her. She's not listening. She's drowning in a sea of hate. We break through the circle, pushing through everyone. "Jade! JADE!" I scream at the top of my lungs. Her eyes are dark and glazed over. Brandon shoves the last person out of the way and bursts through to the middle. "It's not true! Whoever told you these damn rumors is a liar!" Philip tries reasoning with everyone. "Fucking hell guys! What is wrong with you?" Brandon defends himself from the oncoming rocks. The crowd soon starts integrating remarks on us as well. "Brandon...doesn't care....Philip....is vain....Shawn....lies....traitor....selfish....bigoted..." Waves upon waves of insults and abusive words fill our minds. "How," I raise my voice. "How can you even say these things? You don't talk to us, you don't even try to get to know us! Quit spewing hate about people you barely know!" blood pumps throughout my body. "Says you! You and your preppy group always trash talk others," someone calls. "Yeah! And you don't even try yourself!" Another. "You know that Lachlan kid right?" Everything stops. I stare the kid down. "What about him?" I say through gritted teeth. "I'm glad he got that bitch friend of yours pregnant! She deserves it!" "Not to mention the fact about all those remarks you made about him! Nothing but trashy negative comments! Stop being so damn hypocritical!" Words spew out of everyone's mouth. "Shut up! Shut up, just shut up! I'm not perfect, I'm just human! We're just human, please stop!" I plead. "Monsters! Monsters!" The crowd revs up. Brandon pulls me back. "Watch out. This won't end well," the four of us are grouped together in the middle. A big hunk of rock flies from the crowd and hits Philip in the forehead. "Gah!" He exclaims from pain. There's a huge gash, and blood spills from his temple. Phillip falls over in pain. Jade catches him in her arms. "Philip!" Tears spill from her eyes as she cradles his head. He's barely conscious. "Fuck, fuck, fuck. Please let this be a nightmare," Jade whispers in fear. We cower from the attacks when someone yells "Run! It's security!" The crowd scatters and we're left alone.
