Avi Kaplan: Every year on the last night of A Cappella Academy we stay up all night to wake up the sun together. Every voice beautiful and every soul bright, we come together to create a family. Nothing quite captures what it’s like on that mountain, but this gives a pretty good idea. As the camp high comes to an end, my heart couldn’t be more full. This truly is my biggest accomplishment. Thank you to Robert Dietz and Ben Bram for bringing this dream to life with me and to all the staff and campers who keep it alive every year.

Here’s the deal with haters. They are to be pitied. Haters are people that spend their time and energy pouring hatred into someone that they’ve never met, probably will never meet. They think about them all the time. And they just, their hearts are filled with blackness and evil and hatred, and they want to direct it towards somebody that has done nothing to them. And I feel like they are to be pitied. They are people that should be, um, y'know, hopefully loved at some point in their life, and can experience love, and I’m the first person to give them love. I’m like ‘Girl you have…something is so…twisted in your mind that you spend your days thinking about me, so I love you, and I hope and I pray for you that you get better so that you can start thinking about maybe yourself.’ It’s sad, I find (saying hateful things to someone) to be very very sad. So I find that to be pitied. So it doesn’t affect me in a way where I’m like 'UGH there’s so–’ like, they don’t aggravate me, I just, I feel bad for them. Because I know I’m a good person. So, like, it’s totally fine.

If you’re on the Internet just being hateful and mean, that means that you’re leading a sad life and I need to pity you. I know there’s something going on with you that’s much bigger than your hatred of me and I wish you the best with figuring that out and moving forward in your life. There’s obviously a problem.
