365 Days of Six Queens
↳ Day 205 → Amina Faye as Jane Seymour
1. I hate it when the USWNT format their lineups like a long line instead of actual positions
2. KELLEY IS CAPTAIN!!!
i realized “i don’t need cigarettes / i make less violent threats” doesn’t mean there is a lesser quantity of violent threats but that the violent threats are diminished in intensity (b/c this is the funnier interpretation)
7, 14, 24, 27, 29, 34, 39, 41, 46
Im going to DO THIS YAY
7. Favorite choreography moments?
There is something so Powerful™️ about all the girls walking towards the front of the stage during “Masochist” as they all sing “I love who I am, I choose to exist” also have to give an honorable mention to “boom sha boom rattle rattle quake”
14. A major character(s) you love?
SHELIA! I really really love Shelia, she is someone I really want to protect and scream support at. I also am quite a sucker for the “tough exterior warm interior” troupe and it’s so infrequently seen in women so to see that represented in a character I could one day play? That was amazing
24. The Other One or Oh Well?
Y’all are asking the tough questions. To me both of these songs are so different. The other one I love because i felt like shelias verses fit me “why would you wanna be the same as all the people all the suckers... like everyone other person that you know?” It’s the beginnings of a friendship between the two girls. Oh Well is a love song, that we do rarely get to see with women, “I’ll ignore the nagging sting and pretend it’s not a thing, I’ll get quiet when I wanna yell” that line always gets me. Feelings are scary and while I tend to face them head on. When something means a whole lot to you it’s hard. I can’t choose! I’m sorry I love them both
27. Teenage Delinquent or Revolution Song?
Teenage delinquent. I hold a special place in my heart for revolution song (you’ll see why in a minute) but teenage delinquent is such a battle cry/love song, it made me think of my closest friends. How I wouldn’t change how we met or the way we left things. It made me giddy with fuzzy feelings “like we’re connected with barbed wire, oh baby set my life on fire”
29. A line that you don’t quite get/confused you?
Folks I saw the show a lot, I talked about it with multiple people a lot. I really don’t think there is anything I didn’t quite get. One thing I would like more explication of is Judith’s subplot. It does seem to come out of left field. I think it’s good, I just want a little more
34. A very small detail that you appreciate?
Dorothys red lipstick. I love me a good red lip
39. What got you interested in Love In Hate Nation?
So Jen Tepper a few years ago did a “30 days of Joe Iconis” on Twitter where she shared the stories of 30 of Joe Iconis’s songs. I followed that series religiously and one of the songs was Revolution Song. I fell hard for it. Learning all the words and singing it constantly. I knew I had to keep tabs on this show wherever it went next.
41. An Anecdote about your experience with LIHN?
I brought one of my good friends to see the show with me when I saw it for a third time (lol) she turned to me at intermission and said “I can see why you like this so much” just the sheer impact this show had on people in such small ways is really the whole thing for me
46. Stupidest Quote from the NYT review?
Here’s the thing friends, I’m really not down with bashing things on the internet. So while I won’t pick out a quote specifically I will say it seemed like it missed the mark, as if the reviewer was watching a different show than I was. Theater is subjective, art is subjective. No two people are going to experience something the same way. That’s the beauty of it. Someone worked hard on this review and it’s their work. It just confused me, because the themes in this show are so clearly stated and repeated by multiple different characters that to say these rebels lack a cause seems strange to me. What do I know, I’m a no name on the internet. It just confused me, but I’m not going to bash someone’s work, no matter how much I disagree with it
4, 6, 13, 17, 28, 34 lihn asks!
I’m so sorry it took my this long but here we go! Part two babeyy
4. Favorite exchange(s)?
Oh I’m gonna do a lot (fair warning I’m reciting from memory so they may not be correct)
- “good evening my name is Sussanah Son and I’m here to sing a song of my people”
“Protest music? Whatever happened to sha-boop sha-boop?”
- “on other planets, life forms don’t have these types of problems”
“Unhelpful”
6. Favorite Staging moments?
So uh all of “oh well” as they’re walking and looking at each other and sneaking glances (could you guess I’m a hopeless romantic?)
13. Favorite Nonsense Syllables?
I think I gotta go with “sha-la-la” or “boom-sha-boom rattle rattle quake”
17. What scenes made you cry?
It’s not so much a scene as it was specific moments but “and if we meet again how I hope the world is different then” got me everytime
28. Something you like/notice about the show that you haven’t seen anyone else mention yet?
Right before “I was a teenage delinquent!” Shelia calls Susannah BABY!! WHY ARENT MORE PEOPLE TALKING ABOUT THIS IT MAKES ME HEART MELT
34. A very small detail that you appreciate?
Something fun that I was fortunate enough to see is that a lot of the beds and walls of the Juvie hall are graffitied. Like with pen and marker. As if the girls did them over the years. It was really cool
I love when women are strange and off putting and angry and soft and resilient and most importantly gay and transgender
happy valentine’s day garbage girls
The Love in Hate Nation cast recording. My god. Joe Iconis you mad genius you. Everyone's voices are just amazing and the orchestrations are top tier
why! would! you! WANNA be the same as all the people all the suckers making homes and planning parties feeding babies cleaning dishes serving COFFEE! serving every man in sight a wonder bread and peanut butter! feeling dead but clearing clutter! your! bed! so! cold and growing mold but it was sold to you at abraham & strauss! one of your spouse’s favorite stores! and cause it’s his that means it’s yours! you’re a minion your opinion is worth less than an ordinary house cat! why ya wanna BE that! like every other person that you know!
…cause it’s easier?
is it, though?
💛🖤the world might be ready for two girls going steady 🖤💛
i saw the words “ur not the first person in your lineage to be queer” and it’s rocking me to my core. how many generations down the line did one of my ancestors feel the way i did, feel differently than i did and so damn queerly it was a crime? how many of us were there? did they have hope? did they find peace? i don’t know. at the very least, maybe i am proof their identity was never wasted. reincarnated.
The hard truth about autism acceptance that a lot of people don't want to hear is that autism acceptance also inherently requires acceptance of people who are just weird.
And yes, I mean Those TM people. Middle schoolers who growl and bark and naruto run in the halls. Thirtysomethings who live with their parents. Furries. Fourteen-year-olds who identify as stargender and use neopronouns. Picky eaters. Adults in fandoms. People who talk weird. People who dress weird.
Because autistic people shouldn't have to disclose a medical diagnosis to you to avoid being mocked and ostracized for stuff that, at absolute worst, is annoying. Ruthlessly deriding people for this stuff then tacking on a "oh, but it's okay if they're autistic" does absolutely nothing to help autistic people! Especially when undiagnosed autistic people exist.
Like it or not, if you want to be an ally to autistic people, you're going to have to take the L and leave eccentric, weird people alone. Even if you don't know them to be autistic. You shouldn't be looking for Acceptable Reasons to be mean to people in the first place. Being respectful should be the default.
North Carolina Courage is now my favorite NWSL team- I know I used to hate them but now that I’ve been to two of their games, I have fallen in love.
And... now I’m back to hating NCC because I can not stand Jaelene Daniels. I really though she was retiring for good. SO ANGRY RIGHT NOW!!!
NCC really said hold my beer Portland. We see your racist transphobe and raise you the retired homophobe who cried religious persecution when she got kicked off the national team.
😭 gearing up for the new inaugural homophobe cup x
sorry, I’m still reeling from the hinkle/daniels thing:
did she think that somehow all of the queer players and fans would just disappear??? like girl got booed consistently…and even more players are coming out, soooooo…….
like ma’am, you realize that you’re surrounded by gay people, right??? if you hate them so much why would you subject yourself to that????
