This is a place where I post my OCs, and maybe some of my stories. This is a no-hate zone, and I'm especially intolerant of antisemitism. Please be nice, people.
Quillian University, in Freeland, Massachusetts, is a prestigious school that is much more than it seems. A front for supernatural folk to attend and graduate college with minimal muss and fuss, there are a few smart or athletic mundane students who also got in.
Represented by the tulip and the snake, the college's colors are dark and light green. They feature humanities, STEM, education, and much more, with incredibly competitive doctoral and masters programs.
Lavi was living a normal life, with normal classes and friends and professors. She had a great boyfriend - Levy - and a mind set on Jewish Studies to become a teacher. And then she met Professor Reuven Tzan'ani, and everything changed...in a very NOT-normal way.

Born to Blossom and Abraham Kehimkar in Beersheva, Gulab "Lavi" Kehimkar was always a curious and happy child. The granddaughter of a girl's school principal (paternal grandmother), her mother made sure to raise her with a strict yet caring and very educational upbringing. Her parents had both separately made aliyah, her father with his parents and her mother by herself, and settled in Beersheva, where her father became an English teacher and her mother an art teacher. She chose to attend college at HUJI, intending to study Jewish history and become a school teacher. She made several friends, including her roommate Svetlana "Lana" Kaganova from Siberia and her eventual boyfriend, Levy Sharabi, whose family was from Yemen. In her second year, she took a class with Professor Reuven Tzan'ani - and then everything changed. She witnessed the supernatural, meeting grumpy shapeshifting avian sheyd Ori, manipulative Polish witch Agnieszka Dvorkina, and more. She discovers that her roommate, Lana, is actually a Rusalka...and that her boyfriend is actually a vampire. Becoming Tzan'ani's TA, she changes her major to become a Jewish and Comparative Folklore student. Tzan'ani gifts her a magical bracelet that allows her to sense the supernatural.
What Lavi does not know is that she's actually the granddaughter of a apsara, a celestial nymph of music and dance, who fell in love with a human and converted to Judaism for him. In choosing her husband, she became human, thus losing most of her powers. This explains Lavi's sensitivity to the supernatural, yet why she does not have any specific abilities.
Born in NYC, she was raised in Flushing, Queens. Her father, a psychologist and professor at Queens College, and her mother, a baker who ran Miriam's On Main Street, met at college. Her family history is...complicated, to say the least. Not to mention the ghosts.
On her mother's side: her mother's maternal grandparents escaped from Georgia from the Red Army Invasion in 1921, with her great-grandmother being pregnant with her grandmother, and settled in Forest Hills. Her mother's paternal grandparents came from Greece to New York in the early 1900s, and had their son there. Her mother's family helped raise Rosie, and gave her a strong Jewish identity.
On her father's side: Oy. Her father's maternal grandparents were pretty normal. One was a Ukrainian Jew who escaped pogroms to Wales, and one was a Bene Israel Indian Jew who went to study in Wales. They settled down in Cardiff and gave their daughter a Welsh name, raising her both Jewish and secular. Her father's paternal grandparents are a whole different story. Her father's paternal grandfather was an occultist from Germany, who settled in America in 1872 in a poor immigrant family and rose to be the creme of America's crop. In between his second and third wife, he lived in New York, and had an illegitimate son with a Basque-American woman, who later married Rosie's paternal grandmother. They raised their son Christian.
When her father fell for her mother, and wanted to embrace his Jewish identity, he was shunned from the family, both for engaging in another culture and marrying someone of a lower class. Rosie was raised not knowing much about her paternal side, besides for a pair of jhumka from her great-grandmother and lamb biryani on Pesach.
A happy-go-lucky child, she was very smart for her age, and though she could have skipped a grade or two, her parents figured it would be best for her socially to remain where she was. She has undiagnosed ADHD.
She began fencing at eight years old, and quickly became quite an athlete, participating in several tournaments. She got her period when she was ten, leading to the inheritance of her ability to see, hear, and communicate with ghosts. This included the ghost of her childhood cat, Mazels, a stray who she had taken in. At first, she thought that they were real, and her parents thought that they were imaginary friends. But slowly, they realized that Rosie was serious, and took her to a child psychologist. After a few sessions Rosie realized that being able to see the dead wasn’t normal, and pretended she was just acting out.
Born in NYC and raised in Forest Hills, Queens, she received a scholarship to Harvard to study Folklore and Mythology and be a member of their fencing team. Well liked, if a little eccentric, she often engrossed herself in books, especially fantasy and folklore books. At the Queens College Library, she would sit and read books on mythology, and explain them to history and anthropology students. Living near a graveyard, she often saw the dead, but tried her best to ignore them, originally because she didn’t want to seem weird, but later because they were annoying to her and caused all sorts of trouble.
