Erin has died.
Hello. You don’t know me, but I’m K. I’ve known Erin for a while now. Some of you may notice that Erin has not updated her blog in quite some time now. The reason for that, I’m afraid, is because she has died.
...because I got bored of making fun of new-wave feminist extremists and I can’t be bothered with writing new shit. Because, y’know, this blog is-- and always has been-- satire. Erin never existed. She’s a product of me being sick and tired of seeing young minds fall into the “I must actively find things to be offensive about because patriarchy” mindset that’s so common on Tumblr. HOWEVER, you’d know this if you read my FAQ or About Me pages. I was always veeeeeeery open about this-- it was never really some great secret, unless you only bothered to read what was on the surface.
So yeah. Erin is dead. She was a character that I made up because I wanted to see what kind of crazy shit I could post, and how much people would believe that came from a real, actual person. Turns out: LOOOOOOTS of people believed it. And I don’t blame them; there are some legit crazies out there.
omg “crazies” is so ableist!! How dare you use such a horrible slur to demonize neuroatypical folk, go die in a fire
--something Erin would say, probably.
UH SO I WROTE THE REST OF THIS WHEN I WAS REALLY TIRED AND IT TURNED OUT TO JUST BE RANTY BULLSHIT SO IF YOU’RE NOT INTO THAT THEN YOU CAN STOP HERE OR SOMETHING IDK. but yeah basically I got bored with this blog a loooong time ago so Erin has “died” in a sense, the end
Seriously though. If you’re the kind of person who thinks that air conditioning is sexist, the kind of person who thinks white/hetero/cis/whatever people should die because they’re privileged, the type of person who cries “rape” when a guy looks at them (because that’s what people do with their eyes when another person is in the vicinity, you see-- people like to gather visual information about things they find interesting) ...then you need to get your head out of your ass because you’ve got legit problems, and should probably go talk to a medical professional-- none of this “self-diagnosed” bullshit, I swear to god some people just LOVE to label themselves as autistic because it makes them seem “fun and quirky, tee-hee <3″
Like yo, just stop. It’s gross and it actually trivializes what people with those disorders go through. The constant “this offends MEEEEEEEE AND SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM EVERYTHING” bullshit is selfish and childish. Learn to fucking deal with things that make you uncomfortable instead of going apeshit when someone doesn’t put a trigger warning on a goddamn photo of a pomegranate. Instead of claiming that a goddamn change in a website’s layout is “““““triggering”“““““ panic attacks or some bullshit, maybe learn to deal with change. I know it’s scary and it’ll make you feel like you LITERALLY HAVE PTSD, but here’s a secret: the real world changes. All the goddamn time. It’s a thing everyone has to live with. Instead of being racist toward white people and then justifying it by saying “lol yeah but racism against white people is literally impossible,” maybe stop and consider the possibility that being a dick to people based on conditions that they were born with is a dick move. (also remember that the USA isn’t the center of the world-- you see there are plenty of other countries in which non-whites are very much in power, so the “racism = power + prejudice therefore whites are exempt from racism” thing doesn’t work everywhere. wow what a concept)
Take a deep breath. Put yourself in others’ shoes. And try not to be a dick.
Does this mean you have to be sunshine and daisies to absolutely everyone? Fuck no. Like if someone was *legitimately* abusive to you (not just weeh they said something that made me feel bad one time), you shouldn’t force yourself to shower them with kindness.
....that turned out to be way grouchier than I intended to make it. I should probably get some sleep or something zzzzzzzzzzz
