Android N will have expanded support for virtual reality http://ift.tt/1XDLM45
Android developers will be able to tap into new virtual reality capabilities in the next major version of Android, codenamed N. As noted by Ars Technica, the second Android N Developer Preview contains references to “VR Listener” and “VR Helper” apps, as well as a permissions warning informing users that a given app "will be able to run when you are using applications in virtual reality mode.“
Details of this VR mode aren’t yet clear, but a February report in The Wall Street Journal said that Google was tweaking Android to work better with VR devices ahead of launching its own smartphone-compatible headset, which would follow the Cardboard initiative and may be announced at the company’s annual I/O conference next month. One mooted possibility is for VR apps to disable the phone’s auto-lock mechanism so that it doesn’t switch off after sitting in a headset for a while. Google is also said to be working on a standalone headset that doesn’t require a smartphone or PC to function.
Android N includes built-in support for 3D Touch-style pressure sensitivity, a split-screen mode for tablet multitasking, and revamped emoji. Google released the first developer preview last month, and anyone with a recent Nexus device or Pixel C can sign up for over-the-air updates — though it’s not recommended for day-to-day use.

Chemistry Crayons Represent the Hue of Each Chemical Element
Independent boutique Que Interesante prides themselves in creating a union where art and science meet. The artist’s goal is to create an everyday children’s object into an educational and fun experience. She gives each color, its designated chemical element label under the flame test. For example, when lithium undergoes the flame test, it creates a red flame; thus the red crayon is renamed to “Lithium,” the color of an apple.
Instead of naming each crayon after the ordinary colors we have come to learned since childhood, she instills a chemistry experiment, where color theory is far more fun and intelligent. With chemistry expertise and careful attention, she appoints each crayon’s color its appropriate chemical label.
She confesses: “Children play and draw with crayons practically every day, so why not make the experience more educational? This listing is for a set of 48 labels to stick in the crayons in a basic 48 pack of crayons so that while children are coloring, they are also exposed to the names of chemicals that will make those colors! So instead of thinking ‘I want green’ they will think ‘I want Barium Nitrate Ba(NO3)2 Flame’ and then when they take chemistry in high school and their teacher sets some gas on fire and it makes a green color and they ask the class what chemical it was your student will know it was Barium! Genius!”
Find the entire collection of crayons in their Etsy shop.

University of Tokyo researchers have developed an ultrathin, ultraflexible, protective layer and demonstrated its use by creating an air-stable, organic light-emitting diode (OLED) display. This technology will enable creation of electronic skin (e-skin) displays of blood oxygen level, e-skin heart rate sensors for athletes and many other applications.

Sprint pulls ad featuring white woman calling T-Mobile 'ghetto'
Sprint’s latest ad features CEO Marcelo Claure asking a customer what she thinks of Sprint’s competitors, specifically T-Mobile.
The customer, a white woman, immediately replies, “Oh my God, the first word that came to my mind was,” before pausing. “Ghetto!"
"That sounds, like, terrible,” she follows up. “I don’t know … People who have T-Mobile are just, like,” she takes a long pause, as if carefully planning her next words. “Why do you have T-Mobile?” Then the short ad ends with the Sprint logo fanning out as the screen fades to black.
Do you think they should have pulled the ad?
