Disney needs to do a better job of scheduling and releasing episodes. We got eight episodes at the end of May. The next batch won't be out until August 17-19. So kids only have those eight episodes to watch throughout the summer, and by the time the new episodes come out, it will be close to time to get back to school. What's the deal with that? When the original show was airing, we got a new episode at least once a week. But that was before the streaming era. I seriously hope Disney is not trying to make Royal Magic fail with their crappy scheduling abilities because they are wasting the majority of the summer by not releasing episodes that are done and ready to go. I really hope things pick up.

I've been thinking about some things. I love Royal Magic, but every show has things people don't like.

For me, it's mostly that some of the characters are out of character. Now, I get it. They want kids to learn lessons from Sofia, so she has to learn lessons she learned in the original show again; like to follow directions. However, I think having one of her classmates learn these lessons would be better than to take a step back with Sofia's characters development. BUT she is still a kid, and kids do make mistakes, so there's that. That being said, I know some people didn't like Amber being jealous of Sofia again. I didn't either, but she had a good reason, and everyone gets jealous sometimes, even the most mature people. I still hate what they did to Darcy's singing.

Another thing that bothers me a bit is the lack of Sofia's Enchantlet. I accepted the fact that they wouldn't be getting to the Protector stuff for a while, but I have to point out that there are plenty of times when Sofia could have used her Enchantlet.

Some things I would like to see in future episodes:

More Ruby and Jade.

Sofia with a different hairstyle. Come on! Amber got a few in the original show, but Sofia only got a ponytail!

It would be great if Amber and James had a song together. And while I'm talking about songs.... Cedric should have at least one song. And I think Cedric and Sofia should have a duet. And it would be awesome if Roland and Miranda sang together.

It would be great to see Cedric working at home as the royal sorcerer. It would also be great to see him with Roland.

I would love to see Sofia in her apprentice outfit.

It would be great to see other kingdoms, but I'm most interested in Gloomshire, so I hope we see the STF Addams family house.

More mature things like villains. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of Sofia being a Protector, and that's fine. But if you really think about it, she was always protective. So I would like to see at least some drama. Rapunzel hinted at some danger in the first episode, and I can't wait to see what happens with that.

I'm really looking forward to the next batch of episodes! More Cedric! More Zane! More Zaria!

Thoughts on Royal Family Picnic

Baileywick looks pretty much the same. He's not a stuck anymore, but other than that...

Okay, Roland looks more like an ordinary guy than a king in his new clothes.

I love Sofia's dress!

This episode is very entertaining. Amber being jealous of Sofia is kind of off. And of course there is her singing. But there are good things.

Thoughts on Royal Mix it Up

I like this episode a lot. It's fun!

Zaria is an amazing character! I love her. She is so Wednesday Addams!

LOL! This probably won't happen in the show, but we all know Sofia was canonically jealous twice in the original show. My mind conjured this picture of her and Camila fighting over Cedric.

Thoughts on Magic Mayhem

This is the episode that Cedric is most prominent in so far. Since he is my favorite character, I have to make it my favorite.

I love how much Cedric trusts Sofia. He didn't think she would make a mess, and she didn't. It was all Camila.

I love the callback to Substitute Cedric. Grouchy Cedric is a good Cedric. LOL!

Miss Nettle threatening to fire Cedric is priceless! The look on his face... LOL!

Cedric humming is such a weird thing to see.

I love that Sofia saved him with her shield. LOL! He still needs to be saved.

It's always fun to hear his catchphrases

Okay, there is just one teeny tiny thing that bothers me here. Sofia declined the extra lessons because Camila wants to be a sorceress queen. Camila having lessons with Cedric is fine. But what about Sofia being the most magical princess in the realm? I know it's a magic school and all that, but Cedric is the one who knows the most about her amulet, so she would need extra lessons too.

Thoughts on The Tippity Tap Dance

I really like this episode. It's the first Zane centered episode, and he's one of my favorite characters.

Hey! That is a huge callback when Zane asked Camila for a spell to make him a good dancer.

Zane being unable to stop dancing always gets a laugh out of me.

I headcanon that the dance teacher is buddies with Professor Popov. They're both obsessed with dancing.

This is definitely a favorite!

Thoughts on Give it a Twirl

First time we see Clover. I'm glad he didn't change.

Miss Nettle still has some snark. "My job is to sit and watch." Yeah, of course it is.

The look on her face when both Sofia and Layla volunteered to lead.

Sofia might have spent too much time with Amber and James. Their competitive streak rubbed off on her. LOL!

I liked Zaria's lines in here. She knows sarcasm.

Thoughts on Show and Spell

I love Cedric in this episode. He is just so dramatic with the class. And just a little bit of a show off. LOL! I like the way he and Sofia greeted each other. And I like the way he responded to Layla's,  "You want us to show you magic?"

I'm glad Cedric is using both of his titles.

Pepper has some good lines in here!

I really like the idea of Layla having butterfly wings. It really makes her magical!

Great callback to Stormy Lani.

And a callback to Cedric's Apprentice!:"An oldie but goodie!" LOL! Cedric is so funny!

Devin getting mad because Cedric said Layla's magic was the best in class was priceless. I wonder if Cedric will actually praise him for his magic.

Thoughts on Abracadazzle

Is that a picture of Clover with a blue ribbon on Sofia's nightstand?

CEDRIC'S FIRST APPEARANCE! And he still has his sass. I was worried when we first saw his redesign that he was going to be a whole different character. His family wand looks really good! AND HE RETURNED SOFIA'S HUG!

"Are you okay, Sofia? You seem nervous, and we both know that's my job." Minimus gets good lines.

I love Miss Gigglesby. She has quite the personality.

Devin, dear, you're full of yourself,.

Sofia growing tall reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. At least she didn't get attacked by a mother bird.

I like the shield power.

I kind of like that other princess. I can't think of her name.

And before I forget, I really like the portrait of Lorelei in here.

Thoughts on Welcome to Charmswell.

Why is Sofia driving the coach? At least she's had some practice since The Curse of Princess Ivy.

Strangely, James going to Ever Realm Academy doesn't bother me as much as it probably should. Back at the school fair, the fairies did say the students could change their mind anytime, so I am just going to accept that that is what happened with James

"Time to Shine" isn't bad. I'm actually impressed!

Zane is an attention stealer! He is just so adorable!

The race was a very interesting way to start school, and it had some amusing parts.

Pepper is pretty cute! I like his pop talk to Sofia.

I like Devin. He reminds of so many characters like Draco Malfoy, who just think they are SO important. And did he pick the unicorn for his castle's pet just because she was the most magical choice? Mmm,

I enjoyed seeing Rapunzel. I'm very interested in what she was talking about. And I thought it was funny that she gave Sofia a frying pan. That was probably my favorite part of the episode.

Maybe I should be upset that the Protector storyline MIGHT not be continued. But I have accepted it. This new show is for an entirely new generation of kids, so I can understand why some things aren't being addressed right away, if ever. I do appreciate all the callbacks that are in these episodes.

I feel so bad for Craig and the team. People are still bugging him about Hugo. I mean, come on! Hugo had a great arc, but what would his purpose be in Royal Magic? He's not even magical. The most magical he was was when he was ice skating. I can't see him at a magic school. He's just not the type.

Why can't people just enjoy the show with the new characters instead of nag the creator about someone who only had three episodes? Ridiculous!

I love Royal Magic. Maybe I will share my thoughts on each episode like so many people have been doing lately. But right now I want to talk about something that really bothers me.

Amber sounds horrible!!!

Maybe I'm being a little harsh, but OMG! Why did they do that to Amber? She was one of the best singers in the original show! But her first song in Royal Magic is just awful. Who cares if Darcy sounds older? Amber is supposed to be 12 or 13 at this point, so she shouldn't sound so young. I know this wasn't Craig's doing, so I'm not blaming him. Amber deserves to sing with her powerful, beautiful voice, and I don't want to hear her sing again unless they fix this error.

Please give Amber back her voice.

I watched every episode. I have to say that I was very surprised. When I first heard about the 11 minute episodes, I wasn't Too thrilled. But a couple of months ago I watched the original Care Bears from the 1980s, and I was reminded that 11 minute stories can be great if they are done well. And Craig and his team did an amazing job. Now, I can't speak for everyone. But I can't find anything bad about Royal Magic. I think it's going to be a success.
