ari observed , from his claimed spot near the door , as isabella watched her dance teacher with pure and unadulterated fascination as the ballerina gave the announcements for the day as a smile spread through his lips . he often got to see his daughter exist with others , notice the way she always formulated an opinion on them based on just a few words ( and how they often proved to be right ) . it had been the same with sofia , from the moment his daughter had met the dance instructor after the two of them had spent a week hunting for any after school activity , isabella had been completely bewitched by her and had begged her father to let her take ballet lessons with her , claiming she wanted to be just like her when she grew up .
to say the former actor was thankful for sofia's presence in his daughter's life was an understatement . isabella was a bright kid , cordial and kind , just like her mother . she got along with almost everyone she met and she had grew up to be open and generous with her time and what she had ; the dream of every parent . still , there were nights ari found himself panicking over himself not being good enough for her , over screwing up and changing his daughter's life forever somehow . over her not having her mother by her side and having her feel there was something missing from her life . he knew as hard as he tried , he would simply never be enough on his own , and as dreadful as that realization was , it allowed him to be extra grateful of those who , knowingly or not , gave their time to teach isabella everything he couldn't cover .
he tried his very best , however , to be as present in his daughter's life . reason why he always found himself doing stuff he often didn't do , like baking sales and learning to paint her nails and getting his painted and bedazzled . or , raise his hand as the beautiful dance teacher spoke on the winter recital she and all the kids currently gathering all their belongings and talking with eachother excitedly had been working so hard on . " is there anything we parents can do to help ? " he questioned . if the possibility of himself helping in the recital in any capacity meant he could spend any amount of time with sofia while she was on her element , lost in thought and grinning widely at her pupils as she had been less than five minutes prior , then who was he to deny himself such pleasure whilst also being a present figure in his child's life ?
As soon as she made the announcement-slash-reminder, Sofia could see all the kids turning around to their little friends or even their parents and start to talk about the recital, the glimmer in their eyes was why she did all this, because she could remember feeling that inside of her, the way her tummy used to twist when she thought of dancing on a stage, in front of other people. That's why she did this, not only teach, but put on recitals every six or seven months, so that her students got chances all through the year to showcase their skills. Many of them would never go into professional dance, but that didn't mean they shouldn't get the chance to dance on a theatre stage with their friends in front of their parents and other loved ones.
Sofi heard the question from Aristotle and nodded her head. She didn't really have an answer prepared for this, and with good reason really, because no other parent asked anything, and even a few moms looked at him with a strong face because they didn't really wanna do anything extra. Seeing as nobody else asked, Sofi dropped her bag and walked over to Ari and Isabella, giving the little girl a soft smile before looking up at her dad, already feeling herself blush from the back of her neck all up to her cheeks by even being close to him.
Was she just gonna stand here and pretend nothing had happened when everything had happened? It'd been just one night, she'd sworn to herself she'd never get involved with her students parents, but exes were a hard thing to navigate for her, and Ari had been such a gentleman to her, something she'd never experienced before, so she just... Gave in, in every possible way. And she hadn't stopped thinking about it ever since. Every time Isabella came in, she looked up to the door to see if he was there, and she felt like a teenager every time she caught him staring back.
But that's all it was. One night thing... Right?
"Uhm... Nothing is formally required, we know parents are busy with other things... But there's always things we could find to do. Set construction, painting snowflakes... Would you like that, Bella?" She looked down at the little girl with a sparkle in her eye.
