Almost // Sohyun x Tessa
She wasnāt sure if the girl was just listening to music, she wasnāt sure if she was lost in her thoughts and couldnāt see anything happening, but the girl was being very dangerous. Reacting quickly, she started to run, pushing past all the people around her. Some gave her dirty looks but she didnāt have to think about it and only moved as fast as her feet could carry her. It was like counting down the seconds and the moment she had a chance, she took it.
āWatch out!ā Her voice carried and many people looked back but not the person she wanted still didnāt look back. Using her training skills, she pushed the girl out the way and tumbled along just as a construction beam fell down. It caused crash and many people backed up but no one was warmed. āAre you okay?ā She sat back to give the other some breathing room. āI didnāt mean to hurt you but the beam was falling.ā
With headphones in her ears, Sohyun couldnāt hear anything around her. That had been her original intentions; to block everything out after an exhausting morning at work. Because she had gotten so immersed in the music playing into her ears, there was no way for her to hear the woman calling out to her, leaving her completely oblivious to the dangerous situation around her.
Before Sohyun could process anything she hit the ground with a yelp, knocking the earphones out of her ears just in time for her to hear the sound of the construction beam crashing down. She felt a little dizzy, but pushed herself up to sit regardless, wide eyes staring at the now fallen beam. She rubbed at her arm and winced, worrying her bottom lip between her teeth.
āHuh...?ā It took her a moment to realize that the voice she heard was speaking to her. Knees tucked underneath herself, she turned her head to face the stranger.Ā āI... I-Iām sorry, I wasnāt paying attention at all, and...ā She trailed off, reaching up to touch her own forehead. The sting alone made it clear that it was more than just her arm that had gotten injured.Ā āOw...āĀ
No matter what, Iām very happy today; having someone speak up for me, fight for me.
Help a girl out
Ā Ā Sookjaās watched in mild amusement as the girl almost got her hand stepped on. Better her than me. She took her legs down from the chair and watched her quickly take the napkin from the sidewalk. Out of everyone she could have grabbed the attention of, she had to get the mouse. Though she had no room to talk. Her bones still felt strange to her, healed but weak still. Another few days until she could do just about anything normally once more.
Ā Ā She took the napkin from the mouse and smiled at her. She looked nice enough at least, kind to retrieve an napkin when all Sookja had to do was get up and get another one. Maybe she was one of those people against littering. Or maybe she was just kind. But people who were kind were always the best to use. They never saw it coming. Blinded by trust or some humanity is good bullshit.
Ā Ā āSit down,ā she replied, nodding towards one of the empty chairs that were around her. āYou look shaken up since youāre hand almost got stepped on,ā she added with a tilt of her head. āOrder some tea. It might relax you before you go home.ā
Ā Ā What was she trying to do? Make a new friend? With a human? The thought was just disgusting within itself. She didnāt need friends, she didnāt need anyone. She had everyone she needed. She took a breath as she settled back into her chair, bringing her legs back up and placing the napkin back on the table and her tea back on it. Sucking on her lower lip, she eyed the other girl, curious to what the little mouse would do.
Sohyun had not expected the woman to tell her to sit down. If anything, she had been ready to leave, because most people never paid any mind to her whether she helped them out or not. And so she was momentarily befuddled, staring dumbly at the empty chair the other gestured towards.Ā āOh.ā She cleared her throat, nodding feebly as she took a seat in the chair.Ā
Though she couldnāt quite put her finger on it, there was something different about the woman she was sitting with. Something about her aura just seemed different from those around them. It made her feel cautious, but only for a brief moment--she assured herself that she was just being silly, and the concern went away that easily. One short glance at the other, and then she looked away again. The sunlight was enough to make her squint, and so she lowered her head to avoid the unpleasant rays.Ā
ā... Thank you.ā She said after a moment. It wasnāt until she had already spoken up that she questioned the purpose of those words. What exactly had she thanked the woman for? For allowing her to sit down, perhaps--she couldnāt think of any other logical reason.Ā
Raising a hand, she caught the attention of a waitress that had been cleaning outside. She ordered a cup of tea for herself, thanking the worker before she went into the building to prepare the beverage. Sohyunās gaze returned to the stranger sitting across from her. She wasnāt sure if it was alright to try and strike up a conversation--something was telling her that it would prove to be nothing more than a Ā fruitless effort. However, she found herself speaking up anyway, an awkward smile on her face.Ā
āThat ladyās heels looked really sharp. Probably wouldāve stepped right through my hand...ā
Asking for help wasnt a normal request he had from people, though with the struggle and severity he didnāt have much of a choice; She was the first to come to mind. Asking someone from the pack would make him (feel) look weak, and that was something he would never dare risk. The chiding, subtle scoffs. He carried too much pride to do such a thing, no pack should see their alpha wounded and in pain.
A beautiful laceration up his arm was the start, and he was blotting it with napkins till he heard the footsteps outside of his home. Causing his brows to raise, and drawing his eyes from the cut and too the door. Swallowing the snicker upon hearing the poor footwork against wood, his features had rested calm while hers remained the complete opposite ( per usual ).
The grip to his hand made him flinch, a sting that took away all the clean up he had previously done to his arm. Though, his eyes remained trained on her whilst she inspected the injury to his arm; Though, he hadnāt even thought of a proper excuse as to what happened. In Guk had let Kim Sohyun remain blissfully unaware of what he was, it wasnt her business and the heart she held in her chest was too weak for such information. In her eyes he wasnāt portrayed as a monster, or a leader, just In Guk. It brought a comfort that he couldnāt put his finger on.Ā
āI fell.ā nice.
Rolling his eyes, at himself. He offers the best smile he could muster in that lie, tilting his head as he continues to watch her curiously.Ā āBad on my feet like you are. Today must have just not been my day.ā he lies again, though no remorse dwells in his heart for the endless string of them he feeds her on a daily. It was for the best, for her safety.Ā
Sohyun hated that she was like this. Usually she was more than capable of appearing calm and collected--not even just appearing so, but feeling it as well. However, she never seemed to be able to keep that up for long around InGuk. He made her worry, whether intentionally or not, and she was a terrible, terribleĀ liar. She couldnāt hide it no matter how hard she tried.Ā
She hadnāt expected to see him flinch when she took his hand, and it was almost enough to make her let go. Had she not been so focused on the laceration she would have done just that. Instead she took the few unusued napkins that were nearby and carefully began to dab around the wound, cleaning up some of the blood as she listened to the other speak. Almost immediately, she shot a half-hearted glare in his direction. Her irritation was caused not by his little jab at her fancy footwork, but at his far from believable excuse behind such a painful injury. It was almost offensive to Sohyun that heād even try to act like it was conceivable.Ā
āClearly it wasnāt your day...ā She said quietly, trying to ease some of her tension with a heavy sigh. After carefully releasing InGukās arm, she stood upright and smoothed out her clothes, eyes darting left in right.Ā āSince you wonāt tell me what really happened I guess we can just skip that part for now. We need to get that cleaned up so that it doesnāt get infected.āĀ
Without another word she left his side, going over what needed to be done as she searched for the appropriate materials and washed her hands. Not much time passed before she returned, setting the items that she had acquired aside. First she took a washcloth, pushed it into a small bucket of warm water, then wrung it out and once again returned to cleaning the wound. Each dab was light at first, eyes trembling as she gazed up at him occasionally to check his reaction. All the while, she couldnāt help worrying for him all over again. It must hurt a lot, and she couldnāt do anything to stop that. All that she couldĀ do was clean him up, cover the cut and scold him a little bit for getting himself hurt so badly.
So thatās exactly what she did.Ā
āI donāt know what you were doing when this happened but you really should have been more careful...ā She started, her gaze dropping as she applied just a little more pressure against his skin.Ā āThis looks really bad... Youāll probably need to go to a hospital or something...ā She shook her head.Ā āWhat were you doing, huh?āĀ
ā sohyunxdd !!
Hands pushed into the pockets of his washed out jeans Joonmyeon made his way through the city, possibly grabbing a coffee, maybe dropping by the park or just take a walk to see if PRIEST once again sent one of their people to be after him. Deep in thoughts he overlooked the small frame of a young female, his shoulder bumping into hers a little roughly as he walked by.
ā Oh dear. Iām so sorry. Did you get hurt? ā
Sohyun had just been on her way back from work. Sheād been off today, but had offered to run a few errands for her busy coworkers since the place was more packed than usual. Aside from being helpful, it made her feel more productive--it wasnāt as if she had anything else to do anyway. Feeling fulfilled, she headed home, going over the upcoming daysā schedule in her head. Aside from a full shift at work, she had to make sure to stock up on groceries, and the ahjumma that lived below her had asked her to help clean--
A sudden collision to her shoulder wiped Sohyunās thoughts clean and she lost her footing, falling to her knees on the sidewalk with a small yelp. It took her a moment to realize that she was being spoken to, but once the strangerās voice reached her ears she turned her head, offering a reassuring smile.
āIām alright. Iām so sorry, I really should have been paying attention to-- Ah!ā A sharp pain shot up her leg as she tried to stand, cutting off her words. She knelt back down, wincing as she gently rubbed her ankle.Ā

I need help. Please come over, thanks.
With her phone tucked away within the back pocket of her shorts, Sohyun could still see InGuk's text message clear as day in her mind. It wasn't often that he asked for her help, and though it was highly likely that it was nothing big she couldn't help the knotting sensation within her stomach as she took anxious, nimble steps out of her apartment and down the street. Slender fingers clasped nervously at her front, fidgeting whilst her concern continued to fester until her distress became more than obvious on her face.Ā
Nothing big,Ā she reminded herself. Her brows furrowed. He wouldnāt ask for help if it was something small, though... Would he?Ā Her small shoulder brushed against someone elseās and without slowing her steps she shifted off to the side in subtle discomfort. It was unlike her to just walk on without some sort of uttered apology or acknowledgment, but her mind was somewhere else at the moment, on something she deemed much more important.Ā
He, InGuk, that is, was that very thing. As strong as he was, as strong as Sohyun was certain he was, she had always felt that he was still someone that needed to be looked after. She wasnāt exactly the maternal type--no, it wasnāt anything like that--but she found her own ways to take care of him when she could. He was stubborn, prideful, and that made it difficult sometimes, but she cared about him enough to persist despite of it all.Ā
Is he hurt? The thought alone was unsettling.Ā
Her feet knew the way to InGukās home far too well; not even her smothering concern could distract her enough to make her lose her way. Sheād memorized the path so well that she already knew when sheād reached the door before her eyes had even lifted to look in front of her. Her hand found the doorknob and turned, and though she felt a little guilty for just letting herself in sheād become far too paranoid by her own thoughts to wait.Ā
What she was met with upon entering only confirmed her worries. Her eyes grew wide in shock. Unable to look at InGukās face just yet, all she could see was the long gash along the manās forearm. Closing the door haphazardly and nearly tripping on her own shoes as she nudged them off, Sohyun rushed to the otherās side, cautiously taking his hand to raise his arm higher so that she could inspect the wound up-close. Just looking at it made her feel a little woozy; she couldnāt even imagine how much it must have hurt.Ā
āWhat happened?ā
Should I dance or something? Like this?
Help a girl out
Ā Ā Ā Sookja brought her knees up close to her chest as she sat at the table outside. She was between reading her book and paying attention to the people that were walking past her. Ā She didnāt know what she was supposed to do. Her body still ached when she moved and this was about as far as she could get without wanting to cry from how much it hurt to move.
Ā Ā Ā But she needed to focus on things outside herself. When she was strong enough she needed to go back. Go back and see what the place looked like without the fear that stole her from protecting her Sire. She was too scared to protect herself. Now here she was, relying on other people for protection. This whole experiment was not forever though. That much Sookja knew for sure.
Ā Ā Ā In for protection. Out for revenge.
Ā Ā Ā Sheād kill every hunter that was there, she would turn them back into what they were, prey. She would remind them that no matter how much they trained, that she was stronger, better. That what happen that night in the woods was a mistake she never planned to make again.
Ā Ā Ā She picked up her tea and took a sip. She wrinkled her nose in disgust as she tried to set it back down on the table but the napkin was blown away.
Ā Ā Ā āShit,ā she mumbled, sitting the cup down and setting her feet back on the ground.
Ā Ā Ā āHey!ā she called, watching some walk by. āCan you get my napkin?ā She asked, pointing to her blown away napkin with her book. āPlease.ā
A long shift at COFFEE BAY had left Sohyun drained, generally unresponsive to those around her--not that she garnered much attention to begin with, but she was perfectly fine with that. She trudged along the sidewalk slowly, behind a tall, stylish woman on her phone. She spoke of name brands unheard of (presumably foreign) and an amount of money that Sohyun couldn't even acquire in her wildest dreams.
It wasn't a rare occurance for Sohyun to take more interest in the activities of others than that of herself. After all, it wasn't as if she had some immensely interesting daily life. She was no novel heroine--just your average girl, working hard every day to pay her bills and... Well, not doing much else, unfortunately. From home to work, from work to home, her days were rather monotonous but it had gotten to a point where she was quite used to it.
Sohyun only barely heard the woman that called out to her. She stumbled to a stop and looked cluelessly in her direction, then followed the direction in which she'd pointed. She leaned down, quickly stepping towards the napkin and reaching for it, only to draw her hand back with a surprised yelp.
The lady that had been in front of her nearly stepped on her hand.
Rubbing the top of her hand to soothe the non-existent ache that came with the thought of what might have been had she not moved away, Sohyun grabbed for the napkin finally and stood, smoothing out the rumpled material of her shirt. A few quick steps and she was standing before the stranger, the retrieved item outstretched to her held in both of the girlās small, seemingly frail hands.Ā
āHere you go.ā She smiled softly.
[ ā ā Sohyun ] I need help. Please come over, thanks.
[ ā ā ģ¤ė¹ ] Iāll be right over, just wait for me.
