The Handmaid’s Tale — S6E7 // S6E8
RDA bases are rarely a place where people like to spend time. But when Pandora gets these places back, it looks very impressive
The na'vi diet consists of meat, fruits, vegetables, seeds, herbs and spices, honey, nectar, eggs, and fish into different combinations. Their diets differ from clans and regions. For example, the Zeswa clan is known for their Zakru milk and cheese and the Kame'tire for their famous Kxan'epe.
Headcanons/thoughts for proto Blacks vs Greens in Alyssa vs Ceryse? The potential for attempted one-up-manship. Ceryse’s boredom or terror at being a Queen in the Red Keep at the time of Maegor’s reign?
Its me so you know I absolutely have thoughts on this topic.
I definitely see Ceryse and Alyssa as being precursors to Alicent and Rhaenyra, especially in an AU where Ceryse was Alysanne's mother. I imagine both would compete via patronage (Ceryse would probably have the upper hand here), their households (who has more knights, more ladies-in-waiting, etc.), and court politics (there's no way they wouldn't jockey over seating arrangements at public functions for instance). I see Ceryse as being one of the very few people unafraid of Maegor and willing to talk back to him, in large part because of the age difference (she was 23 to his 13 when they first got married, you just know she had thoughts about marrying someone still half a boy, blood of the dragon or not) and how long they were married before he started seeking out other women (14 years, which is longer than the reigns of most Targaryen kings). This would be even more pronounced in a Ceryse x Maegor=Alysanne AU as she would be the mother of the only universally accepted child of Maegor's body. As for her time as queen, I think she would have resented it quite a bit. I imagine she preferred Oldtown's higher living standards (cultural and especially sanitary), not to mention having little patience for her sister-wives. (I imagine she hated Alys more than Tyanna, the latter being beneath contempt on account of her background.) In a Ceryse x Maegor=Alysanne AU I could see Alyssa drilling Valyrian exceptionalism into her children's heads while Ceryse would instill in Alysanne a deep sense of religiosity and intellectual curiosity (while also pointedly remarking that the Hightowers were already an ancient and venerable dynasty when Valyrian civilization was still getting started).
Thanks for the question, anon

╰┈➤ ❝ The Vulture King [... was] unable to capture Nightsong, abandoned the siege and marched west, only to have Lady Caron sally forth behind him. ❞
The First Lady Regnant recorded under the reign of the Targaryens, Ellyn Caron was Lady of Nightsong and the Marches. During the Second Dornish War, she repelled a Dornish siege of her Keep led by the Vulture King, and when he retreated, she pursued, personally leading her forces. Joining Houses Tarly and Dondarrion, they battled the Vulture King's army despite it being twice the size of their own. The host was shattered, and upon their victory the grateful King Aenys thanked them with honours such as titles, positions and wealth. It is unrecorded precisely what boon Ellyn was the recipient of.
Lady Caron may have been present during the burning of Nightsong in the First Dornish War, partially explaining her dedication to ending the Second. Her family would continue to play a significant role in advising and supporting House Targaryen, including her likely son or grandson Lord Morton advising Jaehaerys at the Golden Wedding, and her descendant Lord Royce being part of Aegon III's Regency Council. Lady Elenda Caron, would rule the Stormlands as regent for her son in the aftermath of the Dance of Dragons. This may indicate a tradition of strong female leadership within the House.
The metaphor of the lion (aslan) was deliberately invoked by royal mothers to reinforce their sons’ legitimacy. By calling a şehzade ‘my lion,’ the valide sultan linked him to both ancestral power (the Ottoman ‘lion’s den’) and Islamic imagery (Ali’s epithet ‘Lion of God’). — The Ottoman Empire and the Islamic World (2017), Suraiya N. Faroqhi
Headcanons: Valyrian Geography, Geology, Climate
In this post, I’ll be giving a general description of my headcanons for the geography, geology, climate and other related matters of the valyrian peninsula. It is important to remember that the details and descriptions given here apply only to interactions in this blog for RP purposes and references, they are not official nor canon unless stated otherwise. Also important to remark that some of the descriptions may not fit the laws of reality because this is fantasy and GRRM himself has stated so when people try to give logical, realistic and scientific explanations to how the ASOIAF world works.
Over here you may find more of my headcanons on Valyria. Under cut because it’s a little long.

Dilsiz, s. m. names of the mutilated mutes who usually accompany the great lord when he goes to the various apartment of the old and new serail. They are in particular the gellaks, i.e. the executioners whom he employs whenever he wants to kill someone in secret, such as brothers, or other relatives, sultanas, mistresses, great officers, etc. Then the dilsiz have the honour of being the privileged executors of his policy, his vengeance, his anger, or his jealousy. They preface their execution at some distance with a kind of owl-like howl, and immediately advance towards the unfortunate condemned man or woman, holding their silk cords [cordons de soie] in their hands, the fatal marks of a death as swift as it is infallible. This simple apparatus, but by that very fact even more sinister; the unforeseen mortal blow which is its effect; the beginning of the night, the time usually prescribed for the execution; the silence of these half-monsters who are the executioners, and who have for all use of the voice only a clear and fatal yelp which they tear from their own throat as they seize their victim; all this, I say, makes the hair stand on end, and freezes the blood of even those who know these horrors only by story. — L'Encyclopédie
Hürrem's correspondence with Suleiman—preserved in Ottoman archives—shows her as his emotional anchor. In a 1540 letter, she consoles him: 'Do not let grief weigh upon your heart, my Shadow of God. Even the darkest night yields to dawn. Your strength is our empire’s strength.' This fusion of intimacy and political awareness underscores her unique role. — Roxelana: The Greatest Empress of the East (2010), Galina I. Yermolenko (requested by anonymous)
She is also referred to as Süleyman's unlucky woman, but thanks to people's love and respect, there are many legends and lovely stories about her. Mahidevran's whole life was full of worries, humiliations and forced fights, but thanks to her outstanding maternal talent, beauty and charity, she is now called as "the woman of Ottoman hearts". "Sümbül, you have been by my side through everything—through my rise, my struggles, and my triumphs. There is no one in this palace I trust more than you. You are not just my servant; you are my friend."
"Throughout history, hairdressing has been an intimate, almost ritualistic activity shared between women, whether in African braiding traditions, European court styles, or among women preparing for celebrations. The act of doing another woman’s hair binds them in a unique, nonverbal closeness." - Femininity, Susan Brownmiller (1984)
I am not going to defend myself, Your Majesty. Whatever I say, your decision will not change anyway. I could calm you by denying it, but I don't intend to do it. Throw me into the fire like you did with your family and other people you loved. [...] So this is [absolute loyalty] why you killed them all? Hatice, Ibrahim, Mustafa, Çihangir...I remember how our father Selim Han died. He didn't die easily. God did not let him leave this world without suffering first. The same fate awaits you!

The eldest of the three siblings, Visenya was described as callous and unforgiving. She grew up training alongside, Aegon. And because of this, she made a fearsome opponent on the battlefield as well as in the air.
Aegon wed Visenya out of duty, and there was no romantic love between them. However, there was respect - possibly even friendship, albeit distant. Their personalities were very similar. Both being introverted, assertive and logical.
It was a shock to everyone when Aegon took another wife, his youngest sister, Rhaenys. It was not said how the relationship between Visenya and Rhaenys was, only that they were the complete opposite of one another (and that Aegon favored Rhaenys).
Visenya bonded with Vhagar, large and battle-reared, who made any and every man tremble. It was with the help of the young Vhagar, that the realms were conquored and united.
Visenya wielded the Valyrian longsword, Dark Sister. It was one of the two ancestoral swords of House Targaryen (the other being Blackfyre).
She had one son with Aegon, who did not continue the Targaryen line, although tried he did. His name was Maegor the Cruel.
It was also rumoured that Visenya dabbled with poisions and dark sorceries. Some rumours claim that that is how Maegor was conceived; through dark magic.
Glad we all agree on Lagertha as Visenya (people on tiktok were MAD awhile back 😭)
