Itās almost Starsnow. Everyone in Ninir is getting ready for the holiday. Nikki and Momo walk down the street to the smell of pine trees in the air.
Momo: Look, itās Lilith.
The screen on a building is broadcasting her Starsnow speech.
Lilith: ā¦those without homes will be able to enjoy a meal and a fireplace during the holidays. Those who participated in the tree decoration, residents or visitors alike, will receive a festival gift. We do this to remember the Snow Elf, who has become the light that led Ninir out of its winter, and continues to guide us. I hope to extend that light and bright warmth, happiness and shelter to everyone on this day. Merry Starsnow.
The screen cuts to a commercial for the tree decoration after Lilith finished her speech.
Nikki: [name], Starsnow in Ninir is similar to our Starsnow, right?
Momo: It has to do with a⦠Snow Elf? Look at the prizes!
Nikki: Wow, the prizes look great. [name], letās go.
The registration counter is actually in the countryside, but the participants are not deterred by the cold.
Momo: Ah-choo! I canāt believe itās outdoors!
Nikki: Something about protecting the environment. Participants need to find their own tree in the forest. The decorations are also made of eco-friendly materials.
The sponsor walks onto the stage after the registration ended.
Mr. Andre: Welcome to Starsnow Tree Decoration, and thank you for your support! Now, please allow me to explain the rules of the contest.
The lake reflects the starry sky. The race to decorate Starsnow trees is now on.
Nikki: Did you hear the kids there talking about the Snow Elf? Something about how Ninirās Starsnow started with a legend.
Momo: Really? Ninir is home to fairy tales, thatās for sure.
Nikki: Whatās the Snow Elf legend, [name]?
Momo: Look, thatās Mr. Andre! Is heā¦
Nikki: Looks like heās telling a story to the children. Letās join them, [name].
A gentle breeze blows through the streets as Nikki and Momo sit down behind the children.
Mr. Andre: Since the event sponsor recommended me, I will explain the legend to you. A long time ago, Ninir was just a small city between Cloud and Pigeon kingdom, the latter of which was not unified back then. Cloud and Pigeon fought often. When the artists and designers grew tired of war, they came here to rebuild the republic.
Nikki: He uses a lot of big words, like āunifiedā and ārepublicā.
Momo: Is he just reciting what was written in history books?
Mr. Andre: Ninir attracted those who were against the war, and it eventually grew from a small city to a neutral kingdom.
At first, Cloud Empire and Pigeon were at war and didnāt focus on the arts, so Ninir was unique in its beauty.
Ninirās designs earned them the recognition they deserved.
When the war ended and times were peaceful, the art of Cloud and Pigeon caught up.
But Ninir was on the decline because it did not have its own identityā¦
In addition, Ninir was dealing with internal conflicts.
The designers from Cloud and Pigeon split into two factions.
They were rivals because they wanted to become the only major influence on Ninirās style.
The factions were at odds for a long time. During this period, Ninir nearly stopped producing art together.
It was later known as the āWinter of Ninirā.
In the end, the designers in Ninir hosted a design contest.
Everyone knew this was no longer about aesthetics.
Regardless of who wins, Ninir would no longer be neutral.
In the worst-case scenario, it might even be annexed to Cloud or Pigeon.
During the winter of that year, a girl came to Ninir.
She was slim and beautiful, with pure eyes and a pair of majestic wings.
The weather was especially cold, but she wore only a light dress, with snowflakes swirling around her and brilliant gems on her chest.
In Ninir childrenās tales, she was called the Snow Elf.
Her arrival ended the hard winter.
She won the contest, but she left right after the snow stopped.
After that, people started finding beautiful silver coins in their Starsnow stockings.
They were gifts from the Snow Elf.
The snow started melting, and spring was on its way.
Ninir artists were limited by Cloud and Pigeon elements during the āWinter of Ninir.ā
They inherited the heaviness of Cloud designs as well as the complexity of Pigeon designs. They clashed violently but did not notice the basic premise that clothes were a display of identity.
The Snow Elf showed new kinds of aesthetics and inspiration: dreaminess, purity, romance, and beauty.
She brought a unique sense of beauty to Ninir. Not Cloud, not Pigeon, but Ninirās own brand of beauty.
The kingdom that was built on peace and beauty was reborn, along with its aesthetics and place in beauty.
Since then, the day that the Snow Elf arrived became the most important holiday in Ninir.
Ninirās art was reborn on this day, so they called it Starsnow.
The night before is called Starsnow Eve. People pray for joy and peace on this day, for prosperity and stability in Ninir.
Some say the Snow Elf came from the snowy mountains of the northā¦
Some say she came from the snowy forests of Pigeonā¦
But no one really knows. The only thing on record was that she once said she lived under a tree.
Nikki: So⦠she probably lived in the forest?
Momo: The Pigeon Forest is the center of the Miraland, and the elves lived in Pigeon Forest at first. Maybe the Snow Elf was one of them.
Kid: If we put a lot of decorations on the tree, will she come play with us?
Nikki: So Ninir decorates Starsnow trees every year for the Snow Elf!
Momo: You learn something new every day.
Mr. Andre: So, thatās the story of the Snow Elf. May I go now?
Nikki: He looks like he doesnāt want to be hereā¦
The children hang beautifully wrapped gifts on the tree, which makes it look dreamy. The holly was beautiful the year that the Snow Elf came Red and green are considered Starsnow colors.
