2020 First Half Review
So many things have changed in the last months, and I don’t know where to start. I feel happy and scared at the same time, but I believe this is because everything’s falling into place.
I have 3 big goals for the year. I wanted to win a scholarship for doing a Ph.D. abroad, and after months of applications and tears I happened to be admitted to the best university in the field. This was the boost in confidence I needed, and still a reason of excitement as time goes by. In a month I’ll leave Italy once and forever, and I’m more than ready to be welcomed and hugged by the beautiful Edinburgh.
However, my leave won’t be easy as I expected it to be. At the end of 2019 I wrote I wasn’t up for anything serious, and now I’m here worrying about my annual leave entitlement and wondering how often I’ll be able to come back to visit my boyfriend. We’ve been together for almost three months thus far, and for the first time I’m dating someone who truly and disinterestedly cares about me.
My second goal would have already been fulfilled if it wasn’t for the pandemic, so I’ll postpone it to next year without regret. There’s only one left, and that’s what I’ll work on after settling in the UK.
