Decided to draw my beloveds as a warm up today! The Sonic Rush inspiration is very blatant

tell us why that despite this being considered a crackship, they are such a good fit for each other

I feel that even though they seem so different on the surface, if you look a little deeper, they are so similar that it hurts

Both considered the saving graces of their people against antagonistic humans (Eggman/GUN) who strive for a better future for their peers in their own way even if it isn't considered the "best course of action" by those they work with to the point of being seen as "reckless" for it. Truly united by their conflict and yet hope to break through to and "redeem" Shadow the Hedgehog in their eyes. And also have blue as a major color of their design

But one succeeded while the other failed. Sonic, the beloved and always victorious Hero of Mobius/Earth/Whatever beating the enemy down repeatedly throughout the years and got Shadow to stop down her path of vengeance and turn over a new leaf. And Eclipse, the failed result of the desperation of the Black Arms to regain what they had lost that became too ambitious for their own good and not only failed to get Shadow to rejoin the Black Arms - but is convinced that their desire to "redeem" Shadow instead of killing her like they were "supposed to" WAS the reason why the Black Arms of the New Black Comet lost.

Two sides of the same coin, connected by the thin edge that is Shadow.

A mirror's reflection into what could have been... And maybe, what still could be if they came together.

Specifically thinking of how this dichotomy effects how Eclipse sees Sonic. Along with their abilities, Eclipse highly admires Sonic because they're what they wish they could be. Though also they envy Sonic for the same reason. They are convinced though the being with Sonic and/or trying to glean things from Sonic will get them to what they want to be.

what do you think that one loves more about the other? and vice versa?

Sonic loves Eclipse's passion and how much of a good parent they are to the Dark Arms

Eclipse loves that Sonic is willing to hear them out and understand their perspective, and also admires Sonic's speed and incredible skill with chaos energy for a mere Mobian

Also, because I was subjected to this, what's their niche/obscure interests, if they have any

As I implied with the last ask, they do enjoy being outside - Sonic of course loves racing around, while Eclipse likes getting to observe the little quirks of this world and also Sonic's powers

As for niche interests, i think Sonic would be a geography nerd and love rambling about all the places they've traveled to on their adventures, and Eclipse (as we always do hehe) is very autism about Chao In Space <3

They both love hearing the other infodump about their interests - Eclipse likes hearing about the world ("to know all it's weak points for a swift takeover" as they try to explain it) and Sonic does like chao

Both of them are pretty decent cooks!

Though Sonic by far cooks more often ask Eclipse is very prone to getting so absorbed into their work that they forget to make food/eat
