Belle was grateful when she heard the voice, smiling at the familiar blonde girl. “Yes, yes. Thank you. The door is jammed from the rain. Maybe together we could budge it open? I will definitely repay you in coffee or anything you want.”
Sophie chuckled, moving over quickly as the rain continued down. “Yeah, come on... let’s try it at the same time, okay?”

“Elephants? That’s cool. I saw some, travelling. It’s something you should go do. Go see them, take that picture,” he smiled, nodding at his younger sister. “Yep, remind you of your travels every day.” He looked at her. “I have my pictures all around my house. For that reason, I like to see those parts of my life around me. I think if I was really brave, I would’ve done the swimming with sharks thing, took a picture of that.”
“That’s cool, I’m jealous.” She chuckled, thinking it over. “Maybe I should.” She supposed it was one of the more do-able things you could have on the list. “I don’t blame you, I bet it’s great to be reminded of it all.” Sophie grinned at him. “Oh, god, yeah. That would be amazing... terrifying.” She added, laughing, knowing she would never be brave enough to dare. “But amazing.”
Belle was running late, her car was in the garage and the rain had covered the bottom of her jeans in little specks of mud as she’d taken out the trash at the back of her cafe. She headed to the door and found it had jammed shut with the rain. “Shit,” she breathed, pulling at it. She looked up, the rain coming down heavier. “Oh my god, my hair. Door open.”
Sophie was hurrying along the street trying to get to somewhere dry herself when she heard the voice. Looking up, she noticed there seemed to be a bit of an issue round the back of the cafe and she turned to hurry over. “Need a hand?”
Parker smiled up at the other, picking up his beer with his free hand. “If you could take a picture of anything in the world. What would it be? And where would you put the picture?” he asked, eyes glancing to them. He felt like everyone needed a little distraction right now.
Sophie shrugged. “Hm, I don’t know. A herd of elephants in the wild, maybe?” She’d always loved elephants. “Or the northern lights?” She pondered over where she’d put either picture for a few moments. “On the fireplace where I’d be able to see it every day when I walked in? Your turn.”

Melody maybe needed to work on her ability to be subtle, especially when it came to things like hiding who her parents really were. “No really, go ahead… I’ll buy your coffee for you, too. Sorry for being so loud.” she nodding her head some with the apology, tugging on her own bottom lip with her teeth, the question she was being asked causing her to sigh out. “Ah… yeah, I’m totally fine. Thank you for asking..”
“Oh, wow, thanks that’s so nice of you.” Sophie smiled gently back at the other girl. “It’s really no problem, don’t even worry about it.” She shrugged. “Happens to us all, I’m sure.” Everyone had moments, right? “Okay, good.” She was glad it didn’t seem to be anything disastrous... hopefully. Turning to the counter she ordered her drink.

“You make a point for yourself at least.” Toni shrugged as she sat back and looked out at the festival goers. “I think a lot are being a little premature with their conspiracy theories, we can at least enjoy a good festival the lovely booster club put on for us before worrying about who’s bed JC is probably in right now.”
Sophie bit her lip, nodding thoughtfully. “Yeah, maybe.. I guess jumping the gun doesn’t do much good either.” She admitted. Still. She just always had this bad feeling in the pit of her stomach. “Hopefully it’s just... some big horrible misunderstanding.” She couldn’t imagine another family going through what hers had.

“These days they have cameras on every street corner, every store has one outside, people are on their phones so much it just doesn’t make sense for people to vanish out of thin air anymore.” Ronan ranted, trying to control his temper as he thought about how stupid it was. Years ago they didn’t have the technology they had now, it was easier to just disappear. “Oh yeah? They’re doing a great job?” He shook his head. “Did they find out who hurt Maddi?” He raised a brow knowing he probably crossed a line. He’d grown up with the family, his brother being close with Maddi and Ronan friends with Parker. He knew he’d probably crossed a line with his comment but he truly didn’t think the police were doing a good job.
“That’s the thing though.” Sophie shrugged. “There are blind spots everywhere still.” She didn’t really want to argue about it but she always tried to tell herself people were doing all they could because the alternative didn’t feel great. Sophie went quiet, picking at a loose thread on her sleeve and she shrugged at his question before mumbling. “No but they will...” They had to. Right?
“So when do we take matters into our own hands because the police clearly don’t know how to do their jobs.” Ronan shook his head, his Grandmother seemed to think the police were doing a great job but he on the other hand thought they were doing appalling. “How do they lose a 6′4 man over night and not see a thing?” @claybstarters
Sophie turned her head, shrugging. “I don’t know... but it happens all over the world. Someone’s there, then they’re just... not.” She frowned. “I think people just... don’t care to look closely until it’s too late.” Was that morbid? Eh, whatever. Her sister was dead, she could be as morbid as she liked. “I don’t see how any of us could do a better job though.”
“Now how did everyone jump to the worst conclusions about this guy being missing?” Toni truthfully asked in confusion. “He’s a young man, my first thought would be he’s passed out in some brothel just outside of town not that he’s dead.” She shook her head in disbelief at some of the suggestions people were making. “Why does everyone assume the worst case scenario?” @claystarters
“I mean, I know why I jump to that conclusion, but I don’t know about anyone else...” Though she couldn’t say she agreed with the assumption the person before her had given. Something didn’t feel right.

Miki had thoroughly enjoyed his evening out with the other boys from work, though as per usual, he’d consumed too much alcohol and strayed away from the group and of course, ended up in the gentlemens club. The last thing he can remember was trying to order an uber back home to the lanes, so it was no wonder he felt so confused when he came to in an environment he didn’t recognise. Sitting himself up far too quickly on the couch, he reached for his cell to check the time before calling out to whoever else was here. “Hello?” Whose apartment was this?

Sophie had been awake since she’d found him outside her place, drunk and obviously alone. It probably hadn’t been the safest idea but she also didn’t know if she’d have felt right just ignoring him and leaving him to it, not after what happened to her sister. Hearing from the next room, she moved carefully through, giving him a little look from where she hovered in the doorway. “Hey, uh...” She shrugged. “I think you got an uber but they took you to the wrong place and drove off... I figured my couch was better than the street?”

“That’s okay, it isn’t for everyone. Did you enjoy what you did?” she asked her. “Well, you can still make experiences. Travel, try new hobbies.” She nodded. “A lot of ups, yes. Just one particular bad down. But I’m okay now.”
“Yeah, I suppose so. It’s not been bad by any means.” Sophie couldn’t complain, she had a very good life and she knew that. “Oh, I’m sorry to hear that.” Sophie nodded sympathetically. She supposed she could relate, having had a pretty bad down herself. “I’m glad it’s better now though.” She smiled. “Seems like you’re doing pretty good.”

“Now I know what I’m here for. To buy pricey coffee,” he joked, returning her grin. He smiled, walking beside his sister. He was glad they’d talked, he wanted things to be better.
Sophie laughed, giving him a playful little nudge. “What else are big brothers for?” She teased.

Melody had so much on her mind the past few days, all she wanted was to take a little break from her incredibly busy life and have a coffee to herself. Phone in hand, she was waiting on line until she got a text that nearly made her scream out in shock. “Uh you can go ahead of me..” she told the person behind her, clearing her throat and slipping her phone into her purse as she took a deep breath and looked over to them. “Just uh… crazy that the weather is finally getting a little warmer, huh?” Feeling the need to explain the look on her face just before letting them go ahead of her. Obviously it was a poor excuse, but she there was no way she could tell them about the fact her father had accessed her new name and now she was in fear of being found.
Sophie had been lost in her thoughts as she waited in line, jumping out of her skin a little when she heard the girl in front of her scream. She blinked, shaking herself out of her thoughts as she turned her attention to the other person. “Oh, are you sure..? I don’t mind..” She asked, shrugging a little before sheepishly sidling past them. “Yeah, it’s... it’s nice.” Sophie nodded, not having expected the conversation to continue. “...are you sure you’re okay?”

“I will do, I pretty much set my own hours, so we can work around when you’re free and dad,” he nodded. “I’m really glad we’re doing this. I want things to get better too.” Parker smiled. “I would love a coffee. Come on. I’ll buy.”
Sophie grinned. “Well, in that case, I’ll be having a large.” She joked, chuckling as she moved to walk with him in the direction of the cafe.

Pat half smiled. “Come on… i’m heading back down the trail now anyway. Let’s get back and get a coffee or something. You look like you could use it.”
Sophie gave him a grateful little smile, nodding. “A coffee definitely sounds good right about now.” She agreed, moving to walk with him as she made sure all her things were tucked safely into her bag.
