I write things, and I play video games. I have a pug named Zelda and two cats named after gods of war. I live in the PNW, and I reblog pretty things and horrible nightmarish elder creatures with equal frequency.
I am open to OCs and all fandoms! ( This is one of the ways I get dragged into one tbh - not that Iâm complaining ) I wonât do anything NSF/W. All commissions are at 300dpi at varying sizes no less than A4. I typically work over a week, ranges from 2 to 7 days depending on my academic load. Iâm almost always open unless stated otherwise on my blog description. Will never not add this commentary when I see folks post about Naja.
Support them!! They are one of the few fashion brands with a commitment not to use sweatshop labor.
In fact, the people who make their bras and panties are women! They are often single moms or heads of their household. Naja offers free assistance for education and day care for the children of the women working for them. Conversely, Victoriaâs Secret used prison labor for many years. Now, they likely contract with a sweatshop or other unsafe factory facilities.
Support Naja! So they can continue to support WOC in more ways than one!
Thereâs three main groups: the flexors and extensors each take one half of the forearm, and the ridge muscles sit on top like a little tiara. Each group has itâs own unique form. Learning their anatomy will help you design awesomely dynamic arms.
Letâs try to make forearms manageable to draw. This is a body part most artists donât quite understand. It can be real intimidating if you donât know the muscles.
The arm has a simple chain design and the forms interlock down the arm.
To avoid the snowman effect, use straight, angular lines and look for asymmetries. Compare the apex of both sides of the forearm to understand the curvature better. Notice that the flexors reach lower on the wrist than the extensors and ridge muscles.
Look for this kind of thing when youâre drawing the gesture of the muscle groups. A wave rhythm where the curve on one side leads into the next curve on the other side.
Iâll explain more in-depth in the video - www.proko.com/179
Solidarity with all the disabled women who are unable to participate in any marches that are set up for doomsday inauguration day. Your voices still matter and how youâre capable of resisting still matters.Â
Hey, there is a virtual Disability March! (https://disabilitymarch.com/)
You can submit your name, picture, and reasons for wanting to march. The images and text will be shown on the website for the Womenâs March on Saturday in a kind of digital archive. You can already view some of the submissions!Â
Straight men who infantilize womenâs friendships have no fucking survival instinct. Like my uncle is always making fun of and rolling his eyes at my auntâs friend lunches and telephone dates with her lady friends, teasing her like sheâs a gossipy teenage girl in high school drama. And my aunt just laughs about it but I know for a fact that if it wasnât for her best friend K, she would have probably set him on fire by now.Â
Like straight men are capable of maybe a quarter of the indepth emotional labor and support women do for each other. Like men can literally have one friend named Bob that they go fishing with once a year and still be content for life. Then they think itâs cute and girlish that their wives have these long term, integrated, emotionally intense relationships with women but likeâŚLOL, itâs not because men donât need those kinds of relationships, itâs just that they get it all from their wives while offering peanuts in return. PEANUTS.
Like if your woman is on the phone for 2 hours with her friend and you think thatâs childish of her, just know that she spent half of that time getting the support that you should be giving her (but are incapable of) and the rest lamenting what a giant fucking baby manchild you are.
This is how homophobia and misogyny hurts men: it makes these kinds of in-depth, deeply emotionally invested friendships a feminine thing to do, and therefore unmanly (and un-straight) for men to do. Men are brought up to shy away from cultivating these kinds of deep and platonic friendships with other men. Because, you know, if you talk to your male friends all the time and hang out with them and cry in front of them and hug all the time and lean on each other (emotionally and physically) when you need support, it makes you gay and womanly. Which is, apparently, the worst thing you can be.
Iâve read articles and personal stories about and by men, talking about experiences theyâve had that have shown them how painfully out of touch they are with their own emotions and their own ability to open up and connect with people, including themselves.
I worry about men a lot. I worry about the number of men who find themselves incapable of providing emotional support for their friends, their significant others, and themselves, all because of how theyâve been raised to bury and ignore their more vulnerable emotions and tactile tendencies because theyâve been taught that this kind of closeness has to be stamped out at all costs.
Studies have shown that this sort of emotional shallowness is a leading factor in why men are more likely to be violent, to drown their sorrows in drug and alcohol abuse, and to successfully commit suicide.
They throw all their eggs in one basket with a significant other, or at times a parent, and when problems arise in that relationship, because they have no other relationships to speak of, they quickly turn to destruction.
This is why I often give out advice that people need to expand on their relationships. You literally CANâT have it all hinge on a single person, it is a horrific idea and it will destroy you and the things and people you love. You HAVE to have relationships with other people.
Anyone with any mental health issue can tell you that the inability to talk it out, the lack of having someone to turn to, makes things go careening downhill, faster than we can catch them back.
Somehow this is considered an acceptable way of being for men, and their lashing out is âjust how men areâ. Itâs more masculine to shoot yourself than to take medication. Itâs more masculine to beat your partners than to have a conversation with them. Itâs more masculine to bottle everything up until it erupts and people die, than it is to simply ask for help.
And people want to blame women and feminism for it, for âmaking men afraidâ, or simply try to list the likelihood of surviving suicide and avoiding drug abuse as âfemale privilegeâ or something that is a nature-given trick of âbiological sexâ, rather than address the very serious issue of toxic masculinity and extreme, self-destructive hatred of being perceived as anything like women.

Good news: Tattooers are standing up to show that melanin does not âtake away half your skill sets,â proving that if something canât be done then itâs an issue of a lazy or ignorant artist, not the clientâs heritage.
See recent examples on dark skin:Â

Bad news: For the (many) tattooers who still lighten the images of darker skin, or delete them altogether, saying your work just âlooks best on lighter skin,â I canât change you but @tattrx definitely wonât be supporting you.Â
âif you want more LGBTQIA media, then you should be creating it yourself!!!âÂ
listen, i am a potato completely lacking in creativity, now please just give me more WLW romance where nobody dies, preferably in a sci-fi/fantasy atmosphereÂ
I love potatoes, and I have recs for you! Links are to my reviews, and my own books, which are fluffy high fantasy with lots of f/f and a dragon, are here if youâre interested.
DAUGHTER OF MYSTERY: Religious magic, swordfights, & manners in upper-class 1800âs fake Germany. Full of plot twists and schemes. Sequel: THE MYSTIC MARRIAGE: first bookâs couple is still happy and very important to plot but now we get a new f/f couple too including a demisexual woman. This oneâs about 19th century lesbian scientists doing alchemy with magic rocks. Thereâs a third book coming out this November.
ASCENSION: queer disabled ladies in space, fighting Big Pharma & learning to get along. MC is a stowaway mechanic. There is poly of the âmy girlfriend also has a girlfriend, who has a boyfriendâ variety.
THE LONG WAY TO A SMALL ANGRY PLANET: adorable ensemble cast having adventures in space; the f/f romance is only a side plot but it involves the main character and one of her crewmates.
PROMISES, PROMISES: Parody of LotR/D&D starring three lesbians on A Typical High Fantasy Quest for impossible objects
FIERCE FAMILY anthology: SFF short stories about queer families. Includes a LOT of two-mom families (in space, in dystopian Australia, in a magic caveâŚetc.)
THE CYBERNETIC TEA SHOP: sweet f/f romance between outmoded android and repair tech.
OUT OF HER DEPTHS: Mermaid tries going to human high school for a bit
FAIREST: Dark love triangle (of sorts) between Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Cinderella. Has a happy ending, donât worry.
THE ULTRA FABULOUS GLITTER SQUADRON SAVES THE WORLD AGAIN: superhero team of both trans and cis women going on missions. Has a lot of origin stories and includes f/f.
SCREAMING DOWN SPLITSVILLE: Girls with superpowers fall in love while escaping the lab that was experimenting on them. Set in alternate magical 1950s.
Some free short ones online: THE CAGE: lesbians rescuing a werewolf baby from anti-werewolf agenda humans, and THE SCRAPE OF TOOTH AND BONE: steampunk at a fossil dig, includes a robot battle & dinosaur ghosts! Autistic MC written by autistic author.
ALL of these stories â mine and other peopleâs â have the women alive and together at the end.
Iâm not entirely sure whether the end of The Abyss Surrounds Us counts as together or not since it read as âtogetherâ to me but other reviews made it sound like it wasnât? But thatâs another very solid f/f sci-fi rec. (Review.)
Ive always hated this argument. Not every straight cis person creates their own media, but the second someone wants LGBT and/or poc media they should do it themselves or stop complaining
Right?? Thank you. I did âmake it myselfâ and it doesnât solve everything because works by marginalized creators often donât have the signal boosting support they need to reach the audience that wants them. Thatâs why Iâm so passionate about putting up posts like this â I would be willing to bet more of the readers wanting 19th century costume drama fantasy with lots of happy f/f relationships donât know about the Daughter of Mystery series than DO know. For example. So creating it is only the first step.
Apparently the situation at Standing Rock is being made worse because white people are going there just for the âcultural experienceâ and treating it like itâs a vacation. If you canât be respectful and cognizant of the protocols in place at Standing Rock, then it would help everyone out more for you to just stay home (and there absolutely are measures that you can take to support Standing Rock and NoDAPL that donât involve actual protestingâthereâs nothing wrong with supporting from a distance if youâre worried that your presence at Standing Rock will not be received well for whatever reason). Â
As for the protocols that actually are in place:
Be respectful. Take the time to actually learn about the traditions in place before you go to Standing Rock. Talk with the Native people there. Leave the camp the same way that it was when you got there (or better). Donât make it all about your own personal feelings or how you think these demonstrations should go. Itâs not about you, and if youâre going to Standing Rock you better be the best ally you can. Native people and sites are not your playthings, so stop treating them like they are.Â
Why do people say they unfollow you for what you say? Like it's your blog, they can't tell you to only post art
Well. This will be a few paragraphs buckle up your cute self.
People are funny about talent, you see.
Theyâd rather believe talent is something youâre born with. Because if itâs something youâre born with, then whether or not youâre talented is out of your hands. Itâs a gift from God, right? Itâs ânatural talent.â
And if talent is out of your hands, then you donât have to be responsible for how hard you didnât work. After all, you werenât picked. Itâs as simple as that. Itâs much easier to say, âI canât draw because I wasnât born with talent OH WELLâ than it is to admit, âI canât draw because I didnât work hard.â
So when a talented person comes along, people think this person must have won some sort of lottery. They must have been touched by God. Wherever the talent came from, it didnât come from the talented person herself.
And if sheâs not the source of it, then she shouldnât get credit for it. Her talent is a gift, after all, and since she has been entrusted with this gift, she ought to prove she deserves to have this gift. And she ought to keep proving it throughout her whole life. And itâs up to everyone elseâall of her admirersâto constantly measure and monitor her behavior to determine if she should be allowed to keep this gift and all the good things that come with itâpraise, popularity, success, etc.
So if she says or does something that people donât like, then perhaps she doesnât deserve her talent. If she doesnât draw the right things, then perhaps she doesnât deserve her talent. And if she asks for more than people are willing to giveâsympathy, attention, confidence, a sayâthen perhaps she doesnât deserve her talent.
And if she steps out of line, then she should be shamed. Hated. Beaten down. Abused. How dare someone so undeserving not appreciate their talent. How dare she waste this great gift.
The point is, everyone must keep her in line and hold her accountable to make sure sheâs using her gift according to their vote. Her talent is a committee. It did not come from her, and it does not belong to her.
BECAUSE THAT, amazingly, is easier and somehow less terrifying than letting the girl be a real human being with real feelings who absolutely deserves the talent she worked for and absolutely has the right to feel whatever human feelings she feels. Certainly easier than saying, âI need to work harder.â
(Iâm using âsheâ in all of this because this rarely happens to talented men.)
Tl;dr People, especially dudes, are jealous entitled trolling crybabies who are scared shitless of a girl who is better at literally everything than they can ever hope to be and who think I give a shit about why theyâre unfollowing (???) my blog (idfc???).
your art is amazing and iâm blown away by it no lie, but THIS kind of thing is why i admire you, in that distant way of a complete stranger who has never directly interacted with you, itâs the grit of your teeth and the height at which you hold your head in the face of a massive tidal wave of bullshit you never courted or, itâs the incredible amount of hard work and persistent determination so apparent in not just your art, but your very presence as a person, a person who will speak loud and clear about their convictions and what they deserve and what theyâve done to work for it, who will broadcast unfailingly over the whining hissing assholes that you are a human being, flawed as any other as capable of hard work or laziness as any other, as deserving of respect and compassion and the clear perspective of âthis is a personâ as any other, sorry to ramble in the tags, youâre just a really cool person and you catch way too much undeserved flack for it.
@absentlyabbie your tags are making me cry! đđ
Last night, as the temperature in Standing Rock plunged below 30 degrees, hundreds were blasted with water cannons.
As a Native woman who has been to Standing Rock three times, and whose health now prevents me from making a fourth trip, I have my own asks. Call every  number put in front of you. Jam every phone line. Look at the target list of financial institutions supporting this pipeline. Pick a bank. Shut it down, just like we did in Chicago on Saturday and people did in Philadelphia this morning. The Trump administration hasnât even taken hold yet, and I watched over a livestream last night as my friends and people were battered with water streams that can tear skin from flesh and eyes from sockets. I watched my people hold space and scramble to save one another as drops of water froze to razor wire.
I know marginalized people around the county are organizing for their own survival right now, and sitting around tables discussing the difficult days ahead. But a strategy of protection, defense and obstruction cannot wait for the inauguration of an autocrat. It must be applied here and now.
Please show us that you see us. Please do all you can to stop this.
If you cannot travel to Standing Rock, or support or organize an action where you live, consider contacting one of these Sheriffs and police departments that have loaned out the officers who are abusing Native peoples in Standing Rock. Jam their phone lines and tell them to bring their people home. If your community is on this list, actively organize to recall the deployment.
