to be honest, saché has lost track of exactly how long she’s been stuck in the medbay since the naboo took control of the palace. she’s barely been allowed out — just in time for the victory ceremony, just in time for life to get back to something similar to what it was before. it won’t ever be anywhere close to what the quiet beginning of padmé’s reign was like, of course, but at least her routine and errands will start again. and she’ll have something to get herself busy.

she’s in the middle of one of her errands as page when she almost trips over one of the Jedi — that she can’t quite remember the name of, because she never left the planet with them, unlike the others.

unlike the others, she doesn’t call him out on the very obvious lie he just told her. because she has replied the same every time her legs gave out since she was out of her cell. he’s not okay, just like she isn’t either, and she decides the errand can wait.

she's certainly right about that; he is so weary that he is unsure how long it has been since this had all begun, now. even now that he is speaking with her, obi-wan cannot recall the handmaiden's name; he is sure that he had not spoken with her before, but no more than that. he knows it is rude not to, but cannot find the energy within himself to ask. tomorrow. tomorrow, he will.

" i don't know." before this began, certainly, and he is feeling the effects. jedi are encouraged not to take pills, as they dull one's connection to the force. tonight, obi-wan is alright with that. he does not want to feel the force; to feel it is to feel the hole torn into it, where once there had been his bond with qui-gon. it's difficult to be irritated with obi-wan when she knows the weight of the galaxy rests upon his shoulders. there is much about jedi principles she does not know nor understand, but she has a feeling it would be against their philosophy to allow themselves to feel that weight as heavily as he does. perhaps that is why he rarely speaks of it. disgruntlement, frustration, anger—these are emotions not belonging to a jedi. no those are more her foray.

she feels a tinge of them now as she stands at the door to his quarters, a cross expression on her freckled features. she waits for him to answer. she does not even knock. she knows she doesn't need to. they can always sense each other. and that's the problem. the energy radiating from the other side of the entrance is fractured. weakened.

the doors slide open with a quiet swish. they part and reveal obi-wan standing there with a composed demeanor which could never fool her. he is tugging his robes a little too tightly over himself. her gaze narrows. magnolia forgets her reason for being here and instead steps closer as she signs ❛ what's wrong? i can feel something bad. ❜

obi-wan had felt her coming before she had entered the temple, which is perhaps a cause for concern; he should probably not be so attuned to her. the only other being he is so deeply connected to in the force is anakin, and he can often sense it when anakin arrives on-planet. that is another concern, another attachment, one that he does not permit himself to dwell on.

he can sense her ire, too, though he isn't sure what he's done to earn it this time. obi-wan had been carefully applying bacta to his chest and forearm when he had become aware of her approach. he has already seen a medic for it, in the sense that he had been hastily treated post-battle, but it is looking increasingly like he will have to visit the halls. as she arrives at the door, he stands, pulling his tunic and then his robes back into place, and waves a hand to open the door.

his brow furrows. " nothing bad, " he replies, though he has the feeling he knows just what she is talking about, and there is no point in trying to hide it, which is why the next words out of his mouth are, " there's no need to worry. i received some minor injuries in our recent engagement. that is likely what you're sensing. "

the reverberating snarl continues to echo from his throat, his teeth remaining bared and bloodied. the visage of a true predator, though he doesn't chase after his would-be prey any longer ----- despite how badly he wants to. he remains on alert, stepping backwards a few paces towards obi-wan, silver eyes cutting through the dark as keenly as any saber. 

❝ i'm here, ❞ he starts, the growl still shaking his every word. his entire body is tensed, still ready for any fight, but his superior hearing tells him that anybody near their position aren't getting any closer or are actively fleeing. finally he turns, kneeling at obi-wan's side, his touch a starkly gentle contrast to the carnage he had just unleashed – to the gore still clinging to his hair and dripping from his chin. ❝ i'm here. ❞ he's careful not to move him too much, laying his hands upon him and allowing his innate power to seek out the worst of the wounds and do what mending he could, head still on a swivel for any possible ambush.

" he hasn't the strength to elaborate further, to explain that he needs eve to break free of this state that is all too reminiscent of anakin -- that he does not want eve to kill on his behalf.

he thinks he will have to try again, is even shifting up onto his elbows, preparing to stand, when eve at last turns and kneels at his side. obi-wan does not shy away from the gore that clings to eve's skin, instead lifts a hand to his cheek. it requires a great deal of his focus to keep it there, his vision beginning to blur. " enough, " he murmurs. " it's alright. they're gone. i feel it. "

🌀 do they have a recurring dream or nightmare?

several. for years after qui-gon died, he dreamed of that; both dreams where he failed again and again to keep up with qui-gon through the ray shields, and dreams where this time, he saves him. that one eventually tapered off. during the war, the dreams were more along the lines of a common theme than anything specific. except for one. this nightmare was never very clear to him and he could never recall all of it, but he had dreams (visions) of being shot from a cliff face, then of fire. after everything comes to pass, he never stops having that dream on tatooine.

☂️ do they crave touch or fear it?

neither. obi-wan likes to show physical affection through a squeeze of the shoulder or a pat on the back. when he sleeps he is very tactile and clingy, but when he's awake he just isn't a particularly tactile person.

⛓️what does guilt feel like to them?

damn hun... obi-wan struggles the most with survivor's guilt, which is a recurring issue in his life. it starts young, when he is left on melida/daan and watches so many children die. then there is qui-gon, siri, bant, so many clones, and of course in the end, everyone. while he wouldn't act on it, it often comes in the form of wishing he had been the one to die. in the rots novel he tells yoda that he should've been killed on naboo before getting to train anakin! and i think that's um gut wrenching.
