I'm 18 and I won't be graduating hs. I've been so hard on myself lately, & been looking for a job. I just feel like I haven't accomplished anything and I see girls my age around here driving in cars they bought or going to fancy universities. I just don't know how to cope with feeling like a failure and feeling behind.

I bet they didn’t buy that car, I bet they’re just saying that, I bet they’re in university & have no idea what they’re doing there but it sounds good to their families, I bet they graduated high school & considered that the best years of their life & their adulthood will be spent lost

You don’t wanna be them. Creating your own lane is hard. Being in a lane alone is hard too. I won’t lie to you, but being an outsider & being different only brings you wisdom . You won’t know people until you know yourself. Once you know yourself , you will realize how much better you are then the status quo.

Please be patient & excited about life to come. There’s so many options , so so so many. You’re going to be alright.

Ps. Whenever I’ve had an interview & the interviewer asks me “do you have any questions for me?” I always ask them what’s their favorite part about their job / what do they like most about the company they work for It’s mature & its friendly , I’ve always gotten impressive responses by asking that question . Hopefully that help no matter what you’re applying for

Edmund Lee, a third-grader from St. Louis, was told he wouldn’t be able to return to his charter school, Gateway Science Academy after moving outside of city limits because he is black. Due to an old application stemming from a desegregation law which prevents black students from going to city schools, the 9-year-old’s application was denied. While the school is open to transfer students, a legislation on school desegregation will not allow black students to participate. Lee’s mother, LaShieka White, said she was shocked to have received the news, “It was surprising to me to have on a piece of paper that he couldn’t attend because he was an African American and if he was another race he could,” She told the Daily News.
