The four of them cram onto the couch. It's not a neat affair--Matthew's elbow is digging into Tate's side and Sean nearly spills cereal onto Dan's lap--but they make it work. They readjust a little, Matthew turning to dangle his legs over the armrest of the couch, back to Tate's side, and Dan slinging an arm over Sean's shoulders as Tate steals the Cheetos back. They just sit like that for a moment, the morning washing over them.

"Hot Cheetos is not breakfast," Matthew says from approximately three inches away, making the two others jump about the same distance into the air.

"Hot Cheetos and toast," Tate proclaims, like he didn't just almost drop both.

"Hot Cheetos and toast is not breakfast." Matthew amends.

"Are," Dan chimes in from across the room, where he's shrugging on a navy blue sweatshirt.

"Is it are?" Matthew is thrown for a second. Sean takes this opportunity to swipe the bowl of Cheetos off the counter, left unguarded by Tate. Goddammit. They carry their prize (and their cereal) to the couch where Daniel is, watching their antics with no shortage of amusement.
